Work Text:
"Gooood morning Cleveland! Today on WKYC, we will be bringing you the latest news on your area. Keep an eye on that weather folks, because Winter Storm Imelda is coming in swinging from the Northwest. Anyone in the vicinity of the Great Lakes is sure to see up to 3 feet of snow due to the Lake Effect, so we will be broadcasting school cancellations and snow emergency conditions throughout the-"
A voice from the bed groaned as a large hand lazily swatted at an alarm clock that wasn't even turned on. Bleary blue eyes opened, vaguely wondering where the sound could be coming from before the glow of the tv caught his attention. Alfred F. Jones, the AP Calculus teacher of the nearby high school, sat upright in the bed, arms stretching far above his head. There was movement next to him, a kiss on his shoulder, then cheek, then ear, which was quickly turning red with embarrassment. He'd been making old man noises again, he just knew it.
Fingers carded through Alfred's ruffled blond hair, and he turned to face his morning attacker: none other than Arthur Kirkland, his husband of 3 years and lifelong best friend. Tired green eyes were settled beneath the biggest and bushiest eyebrows anyone would ever see in this city, Alfred swore by it. Al took notice that his husband wasn't getting ready for work yet, if his disheveled pajamas and uncombed mess of beach sand colored bed head was any indication. Or maybe his hair always looked like that. Alfred found it hard to tell sometimes whether or not his husband had used a comb at all, even when he would witness it happening.
Still, it was unlike his partner to not be ready yet and shouting at him to get up before they were both late. Alfred knew his literature and history teaching husband was very adamant about always being twenty minutes early for everything. Except for going to see his own family, Alfred found Arthur constantly tried to procrastinate before the annual Kirkland family reunion.
"Alright babe, I'm up but... why aren't you ready yet? You're usually shoveling me out of bed before-" Alfred glanced to the clock, eyes wide as he realized it was already six, "Holy shit, we're late! We gotta go!"
Just as Alfred was about to get up from bed, Arthur's arms pulled him back down, and they fell in a heap on the bed. Before Alfred knew what was happening, Arthur was kissing him, and it wasn't like Alfred didn't enjoy that, it was just that they would be late for school-
The broadcast from before rang in Alfred's mind as his lips parted from Arthur's, the wheels in his head turning.
"That's a good love, you got it." Arthur teased, his voice calming the tension in Alfred's shoulders, "I was wondering if you had heard the television at all. Yes, our school was on the cancellation list."
The whole of Alfred's being relaxed, falling over Arthur, much to his dismay. Alfred grinned wide, pressing soft and affectionate kisses to Arthur's head.
"No school..." He chuckled deeply, "You know this means our work year will likely extend midway into June again."
The exasperated sigh from Arthur's lips made Alfred's heart feel light. God, he loved this man so much.
Arthur's hands massaged Alfred's shoulders from his position under his husband, "Yes, I know, so we really should push our vacation date into later July- ah, but we can do that later."
Alfred dipped down to give Arthur another kiss on the lips, his grin full of mirth and excitement.
"We got this snow day all to ourselves... How are we gonna spend it?" Alfred looked like a puppy as he gave Arthur a pleading look.
"You are going to shovel the drive and get to work on that exam prep." Arthur poked Alfred's chest with every other word, giving Alfred a pointed look when he tried to protest, "And I am going to check on my greenhouse equipment, grade some papers... then perhaps... we could make hot chocolate and light the fireplace."
Alfred tried his pleading look one last time.
"And then cuddle on the couch? Watch the rest of that show?" He pouted his lips, daring Arthur to say no to a face this presumably cute.
The way Arthur's chest moved when he huffed was enough to tell Alfred that he'd gotten his way. Kisses were peppered all over Arthur's face until they both became a pile of laughter.
"Alright duck, we can watch the rest of that show... after you do the exam prep." Arthur shoved his husband away so they could get out of bed finally, "Now come along and get bundled up, its co-"
"Because Baby it's Cold Outside~" Alfred began singing off-key, and that got him a pillow to the face, "Aw, come on babe! That movie is a classic!"
