Summary:

Based on a 1 second clip from The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 trailer that is probably all HC but let's hope shall we?

Vex is cold.

Work Text:

Gunpowder.

Smoke.

Sandalwood? Definitely sandalwood.

It’s surprisingly warm, regardless of how light it feels. The blue fabric is thin, but it insulates very well. And he never lets the fabric reach threadbare status. Ever.

They all knew the terrain surrounding Draconia would be chilly. Downright cold, even. But it still somehow came as a surprise. Her tunic wouldn’t be enough to keep her warm. At. All.

She does a decent job at hiding her shivers, at least for the first few minutes. There’s something extra to this bone-chilling cold.

Vorugal might play a part in that.

When her brother asks about the direction they’re heading, her teeth chatter through the answer despite her best efforts to steady her jaw.

The gunslinger beside her is quick… quicker than he should be in this environment. Quicker than anyone should be (it’s fucking cold). Perhaps her senses are just dulled from the temperature…

Warm fabric drapes over her shoulders first and it startles her to stop in her tracks.

When she turns to look at him, his lips purse before shifting to a small grin, and the pink tint to his cheeks becomes just a touch darker as he holds out the side of his jacket, encouraging her to slip it on properly.

Wordlessly, she unwraps her arms from around herself and dons the blue coat before he (or she) changes their mind.

Her cheeks now match his, the rosy flush spreading from her face all the way down to where the coat touches her exposed skin.

It’s still warm.

It helps quell the shivers.

It’s so nice.

“Thank you, Percy,” she sighs, clutching at the coat tighter, wrapping it around her securely.

He dips his head, the mock bow is nearly imperceivable. But she catches it, the warmth of the coat already aiding in her perception.

The smile he offers serves as acknowledgement and he waits for her to continue walking, going as far as gesturing with his free hand for her to lead the way.

She falls in-step beside him instead.

And she smiles as well.
