How do You Get a Werewolf to Shut Up?

Summary:

The peace didn't last long, Wednesday felt annoyance bubble inside her chest when she heard the wolf slowly walking towards her. Wednesday took a deep breath and typed harder, until she could finally feel Enid's presence beside her, followed by the wolf placing her chin on top of the table.

"Leave my side of the room before i make you."

Enid whined in response, pressing her wet snout against Wednesday's forearm and making the most adorable puppy eyes despite the long fangs.

Wednesday is not going to admit that she finds this endearing.

Or

Wednesday finds herself once again having to tolerate Enid doing her nonsense inside their room, except this time she's a giant wolf whose purpose is to make embarrassing noises to get her attention.

It's super effective, but Enid won't settle with just that.

Notes:

Work Text:

Wednesday is well aware that some dog breeds are just loud.

Beagles are dramatic, german shepherds cry a lot, and siberian huskies go full screaming.

She should have seen that coming, but it's just that when you think of a werewolf, you think of growling and howling, not whatever weird deep noises she heard from across the room.

The new semester in Nevermore has barely started, and she's already having to deal with her colorful friend turning into a big animal because she didn't want to wolf-out outside that night.

"I want to stay here." she said.

What a terrible idea, she turned into that beast before she could even explain why too.

Wednesday's process of writing her novel was interrupted by a small, deep and muffled "woounf", the goth stopped, but then ignored it and kept going, until a small and just as muffled "wooo" came from the same side of the room, once again she ignored it and continued typing, it seems like it stopped for now-

"AwoooooOOOOAAAAA- "

"Enid!" Wednesday punched the table with her fist, making the howling stop, then turned her torso as much as she could so the wolf would hear her loud and clear. "What's wrong with you?? I'm writing!"

Enid whined under the pile of plushies she was laying under, humming as if trying to explain herself in a guilty and grumpy way. Wednesday kept frowning until Thing's tapping got her attention as he climbed on the table.

"What did she say?" she asked him, receiving amused taps in response. Wednesday then turned to Enid with the new translation and gave her a cold glare. "I don't care if you're bored, you were the one who didn't want to play with the others outside, even though you can finally wolf out."

"Wouh!" said Enid, followed by Thing's translation, that seemed to make too much of a long sentence for such a small sound.

"I told you that you can do whatever you want as long as you don't bother me, now behave and let me write in peace." Wednesday replied before turning her torso back to the typing machine.

Thing watched the whole scene with playful taps, making Wednesday roll her eyes internally.

"No." she says firmly, Enid whines again. "No." Wednesday repeats, Enid makes a complaining noise that sounds more like a deep voiced husky.

Since her words hold no authority, she put her hand in front of Enid's snout and started pushing her away, wich made more insistent hums vibrate from the werewolf's chest.

"Why are you- " Wednesday growled as she struggled to push the beast back. "-so insistent?? This is your final warning."

Enid frowned this time, snorting as she stepped back and growled rather quietly, only audible enough that Wednesday could hear it. Apparently giving up on booping her goth friend, Enid laid down on the floor while looking up at Wednesday through her eyebrows, as if to say she's not leaving.

Wednesday stood up this time, approaching the blonde wolf. "I'll kick you if you don't leave."

Before she could do that, Enid growled again, and Thing began tapping right after since he seems to have become a translator now.

"What do you mean she can't help it?" Wednesday stared at Thing, who tapped again, then she stared back at Enid with the same glare. "So you have given in to your dog urges even though you get to keep your conscience in this form?"

Enid huffed and turned her belly up so she could stare at the ceiling, and to break Wednesday's already inexistent patience, she opened her mouth and began releasing "Waah Waah Waah" complaints, like a dog trying to speak.

"Just turn back and stop embarrassing yourself. Now i can't focus on my novel, and you destroyed my creative mood, happy?"

Enid sat up and gave her the puppy eyes again, meanwhile Thing just watched as this scene unfolded.

"I'm leaving." said Wednesday, who immediately turned around to walk towards the door, however, Enid's ears perked up at that and she quickly jumped to run past her friend and stand in her way. "Enid, move."

Enid hummed in protest.

"Move!" she ordered. "If all you were going to do here was bother me, then you should have stayed outside!"

That made Enid flinch as if she had been slapped, but soon her eyebrows wrinkled in a frown, and a deep growl vibrated inside her chest while Thing tapped her words for her.

"This is the hundredth time i ask." Wednesday retorted right away, and slowly began to approach the wolf "Why. Not?" she demanded, each word coming with a long step that, funny enough, seemed to intimidate Enid into stepping back and lowering her ears upon seeing the goth's expression, even though she was twice her size. "Your awful yearning and excitement about wolfing-out included being finally able to join your peers, as if you were just waiting for the moment to bask in this foolish joy."

Enid eventually found herself blinking down at the scariest 5'1 tall person she's ever met.

"So, what changed? I will not ask again."

Enid's gaze had softened until then, she tilted her chin down so she could push her friend back with her head, making Wednesday push her head away at the contact.

"If you block the door, i'll just jump off the porch." she said, and when Thing tapped in protest, she sighed in annoyance. "Don't doubt me."

Enid eyed Wednesday up and down, staying in silence for a bit, before considering how she was about to do the most reckless thing she ever did in her entire life, and how the only reason she'll do it is because her wolf brain is making her mind quite silly.

She invaded Wednesday's personal space, and without any more or less, brought her to the ground by going limp and leaning her body weight on her friend before she could react against the move.

Wednesday grunted in surprise as her back hit the floor, causing the air to leave her lungs with an "Oof!". It took her a second to realize the position she was in.

There's a big wolf laying on top of her, how do you counter something like that?

"Gh- Enid!" she wheezed, trying to push the werewolf away with no success of course. Her legs were pretty much stuck and her arms pretty much useless, and Enid was careful enough to not fully asphyxiate her, so it's just pure, fluffy contact, wich is the same as torture for her. "Get. Off!!"

Enid's only response was to huff, while her huge head remained resting on Wednesday's chest, snout just beside her pale cheek. She seemed very much satisfied, if the sound of her tail hitting against the floor meant anything.

Wednesday struggled until her teeth clenched and her face briefly became redder as her hands went through the fur and pushed to no avail. Upon realizing neither her agility or strength could get her out of this nightmare, she stopped wasting her energy and panted from exertion.

That was when Thing started laughing through uneven but excited taps and bounces, catching the girl's attention, so she lifted her head and turned it to the side as he jumped on the floor and approached them.

"Thing." she growled, clearly trying to keep her voice from getting louder despite the clear anger. "In case you haven't noticed, i'm trapped, do something."

Thing basically tapped an "What can i do?". Causing Enid to huff a quiet laugh at his silent support.

Wednesday frowned in shock at the betrayal and let her head fall against the wooden floor again. "Thing!"

He managed to shrug, as a goddamn hand.

"Thing, i swear to my dead ancestors that once i get out of here… "

She was already starting to whisper about all the things she'd do to him if he didn't take her seriously, but was interrupted by Enid's soft rumbling that seemed to turn into a whine, the room grew silent with only the almost melancholic wolf voice filling the empty air.

Wednesday could feel the vibrations from the mere fact that such a big creature was making sounds while pressed against her. To be honest, she always found Enid's wolf form fascinating the moment she saw it, for various murderous reasons, but to see this potential killing machine act like this, is strange but somehow it doesn't disgusts her, in fact, she's just as intrigued as she's indignant about this whole situation.

The most screaming thing was the growing warmth coming from the werewolf's fluffy body, Wednesday prefers the cold, it reminds her of how her body will feel like once she dies, and she always despised physical affection, her brother Pugsley being the only one capable of showing it to her and getting out of it alive, well, sometimes her father too.

But as much as she threatened her friend to not speak of it again, that night, when she pulled Enid for a tight embrace after seeing all the affection in her eyes, and the blood on her face, she…

She didn't… hate it.

She could just say Enid deserved the rare luxury of embracing her since she saved her life, but a spark inside of Wednesday knows that's not true, the same spark that evolved into a flame when they hugged, the same spark that made her melt into Enid's arms, and the same spark that knows that no one has ever hugged Wednesday like that, or made her feel the way she did.

Who would have thought that feeling safe could actually feel good instead of just plain boring.

It's a walking contradiction to her, and don't confuse things, Wednesday Addams would never go soft, and this situation is still very much annoying to her, she's just… her mind is just taking her to a disadvantaged position by bringing back that memory she's secretly so fond of, all because Enid's warmth felt familiar to her.

Sighing in defeat, she removed her hands from the blonde fur, and allowed her tired arms to go limp, mostly falling over the wolf's arms.

Only when Wednesday fully calmed down, Enid made the deep husky-like noises again, then looked at Thing, who understood it was his cue to serve as an interpreter again, so he began to tap and gesture.

"I obviously figured you didn't want to be with the others." Wednesday responded while staring at the ceiling, a hypothesis formed inside her mind, causing her homicidal tendencies to awaken along with her protectiveness of her friends. "Did they do something to you? Tell me the details so i can repay them ten times worse and- "

Enid rumbled with a denying shake of her head, scurrying backwards just enough so she could look Wednesday in the eye, wich meant she still had her snout really close to the girl's face.

Wednesday tilted her head so she could make eye contact with her friend, who still has those same beautiful blue human eyes. Enid rumbled once more, as Thing expressed the words for her.

Wednesday just frowned, paying attention to what he was translating. "You stayed because… "

Thing tapped the last part rather slowly, as if otherwise Wednesday wouldn't let it get through her skull.

"You wanted to be with me?" She parroted.

Wednesday grimaced in confusion, trying to make sense of what her friend just said, even looking at Enid to confirm if Thing was doing this right, but it seems like he wasn't putting any words in Enid's mouth.

"Even though you have those intense feelings about our… relationship… " Wednesday began. "I can't fathom how you see the appeal. Why would you give up your fun at the dog park just to stay with me?"

Enid spent a moment just looking at her, her expression even softer, but eventually, she didn't respond with words or sounds, she instead nudged her head closer, and nuzzled Wednesday's cheek and neck, causing her friend to groan and try to squirm away at first, but eventually, Wednesday just gave up with a very grumpy expression on her face.

However, she looked at Thing, who seemed rather emotional as he watched before giving her a thumbs up.

"Not a word." said Wednesday, but her imposing energy was ruined by Enid nonstop nuzzling into her. "That's enough- Enid- !"

Thing just did the equivalent to a shaking of head, and started to creep away, his little girl is growing, and he supposed she needed some time alone with her companion.

Noticing he was going away, Wednesday panicked as he was leaving her to be smothered by affection. "Thing, where are you going, Thing! Don't you dare abandon me!"

She couldn't see him from this position, but she could hear him climbing on the table and going back to his corner.

Wednesday exhaled through her nose and cursed under her breath. "Traitor… " she seethed.

At least Enid stopped nuzzling and settled on resting her head under her chin, wich just complicates everything. Now Wednesday needs to come up with a plan to escape this fluffy trap, this oddly soft and fluffy trap that smells like vegan shampoo.

"I won't leave the room, will you let me go now?" she asked as if she was exhausted. No response but Enid's soft breathing. "Enid?" she called, but when looking at the wolf, she had her eyes closed. "I know you can hear me, Enid. Enid!"

Nope, no response.

She's stuck, great, seems like everyone is refusing to listen to her tonight.

Her legs still can't move under the wolf's weight, but it seems like Enid's consideration persists even when she wolfs out, her body is positioned in a way she won't suffocate Wednesday or make her limbs go numb, really feels like being tackled by a very big dog.

Of course the thoughtfulness persists… That's just who Enid is.

Wednesday is still getting used to this, to receiving love and affection she didn't ask for, love that many times, she's honestly sure she didn't deserve, but here is Enid, still here, a wolf loyal to her pack.

This girl saved her life without asking for anything back, and had her friend as her main priority and worry once she turned back to her human form. Wednesday can barely bear the fact that part of her is glad she's getting to relive something akin to their hug that night, yeah, it's that cursed spark inside of her chest again, Tornhill can burn in hell, but she was right about that.

Wednesday took a deep breath, and gathered the courage to look at her friend's face again.

Will i ever be able to understand why you make me feel in such a disgustingly warm way? She thought.

She spent a whole minute not moving, trying to ignore the fact that she was just starting to get as comfortable as she was back when she pretended to be a corpse at the morgue, even though there's no comforting cold this time.

A certain intrusive thought started growing noticeable in her mind, and she tried to shake it away as much as she could. If she didn't ask for this affection then there's no need to return it, right? Right, so… even if she wants to, she shouldn't, she has her dignity to keep, as tempting as it might be.

But the longer she stayed there, the harder it got to successfully build her escaping plan, wich frustrated her very much to the point she tsked to herself. The mere idea is absurd, repulsive, and yet here he it, curiosity growing unbearable.

If i want to focus, the most efficient way might be to satiate what's distracting me, so it will go away, yes, that's all there is to it, nothing else.

She swallowed hard, and slowly turned her gaze to Enid again, feeling her breathe, and listening to the air calmly coming out of her nostrils.

Thing is not dumb enough to try spying on her again, and if he suddenly decides to be, she can punish him later, one will know of this.

No one but herself.

It took her another minute of inner conflict until she decided to indeed do something she'll regret forever. In a rather careful pace, she lifted her hand beside Enid's head, and briefly retracted it as if she was about to do something she shouldn't, she was afraid Enid might wake up, but the curiosity and temptation drove her further, besides, Wednesday Addams is no coward.

Her hand finally made contact with the top of the wolf's head, feeling the soft and comically colorful fur in there, Enid didn't react and her breathing remained the same, so, half not knowing what to do, Wednesday moved her hand and fingers, scratching the scalp in an awkward manner, somehow not minding the sensation of fur against her skin.

It also didn't feel as bad as she thought, it seems like petting dogs does gives you free serotonin, not that Wednesday is sure she got any, but she feels somehow relieved, and satisfied.

It's... strange, Wednesday is not sure she likes it, but she certainly doesn't hate it either, she even stops at some point, wondering if werewolves consider this inappropriate, but when Enid's expression softened even more, she was sure that at least her friend's instincts liked it.

Months ago, Wednesday would never see herself doing something like this, something so out of character, and yet, something seemed to have grown inside of her almost like a parasite, and now Enid has an imaginary place in the organ that pumps Wednesday's blood around her body, and part of her wants the girl to stay.

Meanwhile, Enid was screaming from the inside because Wednesday Addams, Wednesday-fucking-Addams was petting her. It felt surprisingly good despite the rough tugs, because just the fact that her friend was deliberately showing physical affection was enough to make her heart jump, and it took everything in her to not twitch her ears or wag her tail.

But oh boy she wanted to.

Wednesday continued for a couple short minutes, but just that was enough to get Enid fully relaxed under her touch, and she didn't dare move, knowing she'd probably never experience this again.

What does this means for them? How complicated are Wednesday's true feelings?

She wanted to stay awake, but quickly grew actually sleepy, feeling her conscience fade with time as she laid on top of the person she cherished the most in that school. Sadly, her wolf hearing was not above losing focus as sleep and drowsiness began to carry her away, she wished she could understand what Wednesday whispered just before she truly fell asleep.

But… that's okay, she can live with the mystery, just this once.

When Enid woke up, it was to the sound of Wednesday typing as she wrote her novel way too early in the morning, Enid was laying on the floor on her side of the room, with a blanket wrapped around her curled up body.

She blinked a few times, drifting in and out of sleep until Wednesday would type particularly loud from time to time. Shortly after, she yawned while grimacing at the annoying sound bothering her sleep, and finally noticed she was indeed on the floor.

Naked.

Enid froze for a second, widened her eyes, then hurried to stand up, nearly forgetting to hold the blanket tightly so it wouldn't fall off.

"You're a heavy sleeper as a wolf." Wednesday said plainly. "It might kill you someday."

"W-wait, did i- " she stammered as realization settled in.

Wednesday stopped typing, then simply looked back at her friend, taking in the view of a startled Enid covering herself with nothing but the colorful blanket that was currently slipping off her shoulders, exposing just a tiny bit of her collarbones before the blonde yelped and fixed it.

Enid could only watch as Wednesday quickly turned her head back to her typing machine.

"You used me as a mattress and eventually shifted back. You can start your apology by dressing yourself and never wolfing out in this room ever again."

Enid's face slowly grew red like a tomato and she covered her mouth in embarrassment.

Of course this would happen, what did she expect? She wasn't thinking back when she wolfed out, she just became a cuddly furball and slept while having Wednesday as a pillow, wich means that when she turned to her normal form, whatever was the time that happened, she was on top of her crush…

Naked.

"Oh my god!!" she screamed in a high pitched tone. "Shit!!"

That made Wednesday flinch and frown at the sound, Enid then repeated the same sentence over and over again in panic until Wednesday was bothered enough to clench her jaw and close her eyes in agonizing anticipation, bracing herself for her friend's freakout.

"I'm so sorry!" she approached Wednesday's side of the room on instinct until she remembered she had to grab the blanket even tighter and stumbled backwards near her bed. "My wolf brain was stupid and i shouldn't have trapped you like that in the first place- and you must think that was so inappropriate but i swear i didn't mean to creep you out and i'm so sorry really i'm really really sorry- "

"Enid!" Wednesday raised her voice, gathering the courage to look her friend in the eye, and funny enough, Enid stopped immediately. "Sit, down."

Enid made a sound that very much resembled a whine, and pressed her lips in a thin line as she sat back on her mattress like an obedient puppy.

Wednesday made a mental note to take advantage of this later, she can't be mad at this girl when she's like this. She cleared her throat, and turned away once again, apparently composed. "Why are you so scared anyway? I've seen you like this before, and nudity was inevitable due to your lycanthropy."

"I knooow but- " Enid argued, fumbling to dress herself while Wednesday just stared at her own table, but the goth could see her roommate's pleading face even without looking. "Are you mad at me?"

In response, Wednesday just rubbed the space between eyebrows, and once again told her to put some clothes on, all while refusing to turn around, so the werewolf wouldn't see the faint red that was almost unnoticeable in her cheeks.

Wednesday wanted to bury herself in a hole to hide from this shame, the same way she buried her face in her hands once she was free from Enid's weight last night.

She proceeded to threaten Enid about how she shall never in a lifetime ever tell of what happened to anybody, and that the next time she wolfs out, Wednesday is putting her on a leash and wrapping her mouth shut.
