“Let's sit inside today,” Tohru suggested to her friends. It’s been a few weeks after Tohru has been discharged from the hospital and right now her and her friends are trying to find a table to eat at for lunch.
“Finally a table, jeez. Since when do people eat at school anyway?” Uotani asked as she sat down along with everyone else. Hanajima sits to her left while Yuki sits to her right, while Kyo and Tohru sit opposite from them.
“It seems that people now know that the food here is free and it looks like they know why its free” Hanajima said, looking at the students on the next table and watching them pick at their food.
“Anyway, what do you guys have planned for after school?” Uotani asked her friends as she began eating her food, well, picking at her food.
“I’m going to the estate today, I need to talk to Hatori.” Yuki said.
“Why do you need to talk to Hatori?” Kyo asked the rat's zodiac. After their confessions about being jealous of each other, the two have been trying to get along better.
“I need to speak with him about what colleges would be best for me, not that its any of your business you stupid cat” Like I said, trying to get along better.
“Argh! If we weren’t in public right now I would have punched you.” Kyo said in retaliation, while cracking his knuckles. Yuki rolled his eyes in response.
“What are you doing Hana-chan?” Tohru asked, smiling, ignoring the fight going on in front of her.
“I am going straight home today, why do you ask Uotani?” Hanajima said, trying not to laugh at the cat and rat duo.
“I just thought we’d all hang out after school. It’s been ages since we have” Uotani said, in truth she did miss her friends and she wanted to spend as much time with them as possible before they went their separate ways to college.
“Oh I’m sorry Uo-chan but Kyo-kun and I won’t be able to hang out today, we’ve already made plans. Oh! Unless you would like to come too?” Tohru said to Uotani. Said girl just smiled at Tohru and said “Oh no I’m okay, I don’t feel like making Kyo the third wheel today” Smirking, the girl picked up her bottle of water and began to drink out of it. She loved pushing Kyo's buttons.
Glaring at the girl, Kyo responds, “If anyone should be the third wheel it should be you, Tohru and I are the couple. Not you and Tohru” Kyo's words makes Tohru blush and she tries to hide her shy grin.
Shaking her head at the couple, she begins to eat her food until she catches a boy heading towards their table. The boy's gaze is directly set on her best friends. Huh. Interesting. And by the looks of things the boy's gaze has caught everyone's attention at their table apart from her very oblivious best friend.
“E-excuse me but could I speak to Honda-san for a moment?” The mystery guy asked. As soon as those words came out of that boy's mouth, Kyo wrapped one of his arms around Tohru, bringing her closer. Surprised by her boyfriend's actions, she looked up at him with a confused expression. Kyo did not acknowledge her gaze, instead keeping his gaze on the boy.
“Why do you need to speak to Tohru?” Kyo asked the boy. Said boy gulped and answered the Sohmas question.
“Well I need to speak with her about a private matter” The boy said looking at Tohru expectantly and when Tohru met his gaze he tried giving her a smile that turned more into a grimace.
“Whatever you need to say to Tohru you can say in front of us? Right guys?” Kyo said, looking at the group. They all looked like they were about to break down in laughter. Idiots. Kyo thought.
“Oh okay then.” The boy started, “Honda-san,” Tohru just smiled at the boy making him blush and Kyo scowled.
“I just wanted to ask you if you were free after school? Maybe we could get some dinner together?” The boy asked. Kyo clenched his jaw in response to the boy's question.
“Oh I’m sorry but I can’t, i’ve already-” Tohru started but Kyo cut her off. “She has plans to have dinner with me tonight,” Kyo stated, ignoring the quiet chuckles of their friends and his girlfriend's questioning gaze. This little conversation has caught the attention of some of the people in the lunch hall. Great now an audience, Kyo thought.
“Why don’t you let Honda-san finish her question, Sohman-san?” The boy said to the cat.
“How about you don’t ask out my girlfriend?” Kyo said in response. The cat's zodiac nearly laughed out loud when he saw the boy's eyes go wide, nearly comical.
“W-what? You and Honda-san are together?” The boy asked, now noticing the protective arm wrapped around the small girl, who still had no idea what the fuss was about.
Kyo nodded in response, already done with this guy.
“I apologise. I didn't know-” Kyo raised his free hand in the air, making a don’t worry gesture.
“No need to apologise, you’ve done nothing wrong“ Kyo said, giving an innocent smile to the boy which Yuki knows is not a good thing.
“Why don’t you leave now, your food will get cold?” Yuki said, trying to ease the tension around him.
Startled, the boy nodded and said “Uh yes you are right Sohma-san I will go now, and this won’t happen again” the boy glances at Kyo once again who responds with a simple nod which makes the boy walk to his table.
Uotani can’t hold in her laughter and it seems Hanajima can’t either because they start laughing uncontrollably. “Oh that was the best thing I've seen in a while, I haven’t laughed like that in a long time” Uotani said, whipping tears off her face.
“That was quite enjoyable,” Hanajima said, agreeing with her friend.
“I don’t understand. Why were you rude to him, Kyo-kun?” Tohru asked her boyfriend who looked away from her gaze, blushing.
“Tohru, he asked you out on a date” Yuki said, waiting for her reaction. She blushed and said “What? Really? ” She said, looking back to the retreating figure. “Were you jealous of Kyo-kun?”
Kyo just banged his head in response to her question which made their friends laugh once again. “Oh don’t do that! You’ll hurt yourself Kyo-kun” Tohru said, trying to lift his head to make sure he was okay.
“I’m fine, Tohru, chill. Don’t make a fuss.” Kyo said while grabbing her hand which is on his cheek and bringing it down below the table. Intertwining their fingers together under the table, Kyo stands up, bringing Tohru with him and bringing out a squeak from the girl he drags them away, ignoring the prying eyes. “Wah! Where are we going? It’s only lunch” Tohru asks, Kyo just smiled in response and said “I think we should eat outside today, after all the sun is out.” Tohru just smiled and let him drag her away from the lunch hall.
“Oh man, he just had to leave right now? I wanted to tease him for a bit longer” Uotani mumbled.
“Well at least I won’t have to see them be all lovey dovey to each other, I see that enough at home.” Yuki said to himself, but when he saw the look of his friends past each other he sighed.
“Sleepover at the prince's house tonight?” Uotani asked Hanajima.
“Definitely,” She said right away.
While the two girls were already making plans on how to torture the poor cat, Yuki smiled to himself and said “We should sit inside more often”
