She stood at the school gates, waving at the car despite knowing better than to think that Wednesday would even bother looking back. She was going to miss her snarky roommate turned best friend, but that’s alright. She had a feeling Wednesday was going to return to Nevermore next school year, and that the girl had grown attached to the place, no matter how much she denies it.
“Enid”
Her ears perked up as she heard her mom calling her, another great feature she had finally unlocked as a fully transformed werewolf. She turned around to see both her parents standing by the woods. Guess it was her turn to leave now. She hadn’t been able to talk to them much since she transformed.
But as she skipped towards them, a dreading feeling started gnawing inside her. Something was off. Enid shrugged it off, maybe this is what being hungry as a werewolf felt like. She beamed when she reached them.
“I can’t wait to see my friends again next year. Let me just go say goodbye to Ajax real quick, then we can leave.”
But as she tried to walk past her parents, they stopped her. They seemed fidgety for some reason. Why did her parents seem nervous? Did she do something wrong?
“Enid, dear. We aren’t going home. And you won’t be returning to Nevermore next year either.” She froze. No way.
“... What are you talking about?”
“There is- something your father and I need to discuss with you.”
