No Turning Back

Summary:

Bucky longs for something more when he meets his muse

Square filled: K5- AU:Rockstar

Work Text:

Bucky was lonely. There were no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Sure, there were plenty of fangirls who’d be happy to keep Bucky company in bed for a night or two, if that’s what he wanted. Being the lead guitarist and occasional keyboardist in the band Howling Commandos did have some perks. But a fangirl for a night wasn’t what he wanted.

To be honest, Bucky was ready to settle down and have a wife and family. He wanted more than the fame his rockstar life had given him. And as much as he loved his friends in the Howling Commandos, Bucky just felt like there was something missing. Like there was something more out there than he just hadn’t found yet.

And then it happened.

One night, as he was practicing alone on stage right before the concert, a noise interrupted Bucky. Looking around, he saw you sitting alone in one of the stadium seats. And once the two of you caught eyes, Bucky couldn’t look away.

Maybe this would be odd to most people, but Bucky, looking at you, found himself writing lyrics and music in his head about your beauty alone. He wanted to get to know you better. When you looked away, embarrassed, Bucky couldn’t help but start humming and playing around with a few chords on his guitar. He didn’t know what would come out, but he let the music take over.

What could’ve been a few minutes or few hours later- Bucky couldn’t tell- he’d had a few new songs written down. When he looked up again, you were gone. Would you come back for the concert? Bucky hoped that you would.

Later that night, after the concert was over, Bucky was heading to his dressing room when he saw a familiar face. It was you! The one who inspired such music in his head! Bucky couldn’t believe it. You were looking around, seeming a bit lost.

“Hey, there,” Bucky said. “Looking for something in particular?”

You jumped, bumping your head against the wall. Bucky ran over to help, grabbing your hands and pulling you towards him.

“I’m sorry, doll,” Bucky told you. “I didn’t mean to startle you!”

It was a moment before you spoke. You couldn’t help but get lost in Bucky’s blue gray eyes for a second- they were quite mesmerizing! But then you shook your head.

“Thanks for saving me. It was the least you could do for scaring me,” you smiled, letting Bucky know you were teasing him. “Maybe not the best way to meet my favorite rockstar, huh?”

Bucky smiled. “I don’t know, your favorite rockstar did end up saving you. Is there any other way I can help you, doll? Maybe some ice for your head?”

You cocked your head to the side, pretending to think about it. Grinning, you looked back at him. “Maybe you could kiss it better?”

“Well, that’s easy,” Bucky chuckled, pulling you just that little bit closer before kissing where you hit your head.

With that simple, innocent kiss, Bucky knew that there was no turning back. He wanted you to be in the rest of his life, no matter what it took. You were his muse, and hopefully you’d be more than that someday.
