Broken Trust

Summary:

Kaz falling for someone he shouldn't.

Notes:

Also this also acts as a sneak peek for a Kaz series which is coming! It won't be published onto this work though, it will be its own work. UPDATE 10.8.2023: the series is out, it's named The Bastard and the Blood Princess and can be found from my profile.

Work Text:

What was he even doing?

Kaz stared at himself in the bathroom mirror as your father's jolly face flashed by his eyes. How he promised the boys everything and more, saying they'd live like kings by the time they turn 18. And the next moment, Jordie had died and Kaz was left alone.

You were his daughter. He wanted to use you against your father. You were a foolish girl who clearly had been coddled all your life, your eyes had been closed from seeing all the horrid things.

You had knocked on his door a few weeks ago, telling him while half crying that you had found out the truth about your father and you knew you had to take a monster like that down.

Kaz had taken you along the kidnapping the Sun Summoner to test if he can trust you, but by Ghezen, he never believed he'd fucking start developing feelings for you. You, a Rollins. Pekka's daughter.

No.

He couldn't fall in love with you. His reputation alone required him not having weaknesses, but his weakness being a Rollins?

He scoffed at the thought.

Kaz stared at his own reflection and shook his head, lowering his gaze to the sink. He had to focus. He had to get back on his feet. He had to stop being weak.

Kaz looked up as you opened the bathroom door, seemingly startled from seeing him.

"Oh, sorry. I thought this was empty. I'll wait outside."

Kaz looked at you and shook his head. "No, I was just leaving."

"Oh, okay."

Kaz nodded and limped out from the bathroom and you gave him one of your beautiful smiles before you closed the door.

Once you were inside, you dug up a parchment from your pocket and a quill from another. You laid the parchment down on the counter and began writing.

"Dear Father, Brekker seems to start trusting me."
