Chapter 1: Jeong Hyeon
Summary:
I kind of wrote this all in one go in like three hours and didn't feel like editing it much so if it's bad I apologize anbsdsasjdh. Enjoy I guess?
Chapter Text
Jeong Hyeon honestly wasn't sure how he'd gotten to this point. If he laid out his entire life so far like the plot outline of a book, he couldn't even find where the climax was, let alone any inclination of where the resolution would be. He saw the rising action, but from there it only seemed to continue up. In any case, it wasn't the kind of book he'd think would be interesting for anyone else to read. He hardly wanted to read it himself.
Maybe something was just missing, something he'd lost somewhere along the way. He'd like to think that that something was Jung Woo but part of him still wondered if Jung Woo had ever really meant to be in his life. He'd blindly given everything for him, but that resolve he'd had to make him happy had only proven to just be his own internalized selfishness. He'd always known deep down that his actions weren't making either of them happy, and maybe that was why in the end it only made sense for Jung Woo to finally leave him. He had accepted that, really, he had. Tae Young took care of Jung Woo better than he could and that's what truly mattered, or at least that's what he kept telling himself. He told himself not to regret his choices, not to resent Tae Young, not to pointlessly try to win Jung Woo back.
He'd found himself surrounded by these thoughts lately "don't do this, don't do that" the only thing he really allowed himself to do was write. That in and of itself was healing really. Publishing his first real work under his own name had given him something he'd forgotten about. Pride. Something he could be proud of. Something he'd created himself. The writing process itself had helped him to clear out some of his thoughts, made the past three years become more settled in his mind. Still, he could never escape the lonely feeling he’d developed ever since the day Jung Woo had officially moved out. Seeing him lug out a single suitcase, burned into his memory. Part of him wondered how just one suitcase could possibly encompass all of Jung Woo's belongings. How could it be so easy to take it all in just a single trip? Three years of living together, and of loving each other. Was it really so simple? For Jeong Hyeon it couldn't be that easy. It had been a year already since that day and he still felt like he was filling suitcase after suitcase in his mind with all the empty memories he held looking around their home. The home that was now just his. Maybe all that loneliness had been the reason he'd agreed to what he did.
That unexpected call he'd gotten from the last number he ever expected to see light up his phone. Tae Young, the one who published Jung Woo's first real book since everything happened, and the one who now held Jung Woo's heart. When he met him in the Cafe he hadn't known what to expect. Part of him wondered if it was about Jung Woo, maybe he even expected it to be. However Tae Young never mentioned him once, instead giving Jeong Hyeon an offer he instantly thought to refuse.
"Would you publish your next book with me?" Tae Young had asked. His answer "no" was on the cusp of his lips and he started to say it but something in Tae Young's face had stopped him. The bright eyes and wide smiling lips Jeong Hyeon had first related to a puppy when he first saw them, staring at him with nothing but earnest acceptance. There was no jealousy, or anger. No poison or possession. Jeong Hyeon had expected someone in his position to act cold towards him. Jeong Hyeon had lived and loved Jung Woo for three years, and it couldn't be a secret to Tae Young that he still loved him. So how could he look at him like this? With such a genuine smile, a curious glint in his gaze and even a hint of admiration. He looked at him like he was a writer he wanted to work with and nothing more.
Without even realizing he had spoken, Jeong Hyeon had said yes. And so for the next week they had met, just the two of them. They never mentioned Jung Woo, or their history. They only talked about the book and other professional details within their newly signed agreement. With these meetings, Jeong Hyeon found that surprisingly his loneliness melted away during the hours they spent sipping coffee and talking. Tae Young was easy to open up to and the more he did, the looser Jeong Hyeon felt. He started seeing him just as Tae Young, and not as Jung Woo's new lover. To his surprise, he quickly realized that in one way or another, he enjoyed his company. In the middle of what was already a confusing time in his life he decided to let himself have this one thing without thinking too much into it.
Chapter 2: Jung Woo
Chapter Text
Something had changed in Jung Woo. In the past year since he'd finally made the decision to publish a book under his own name, he found himself making decisions easier. Tae Young helped a lot. Hearing him remind Jung Woo that it's better to live with the willingness to accept whatever happens instead of worrying constantly about the consequences had a big influence on how Jung Woo had chosen to live his current life. He wouldn't call it an exaggeration to say that Taeyoung saved him, not just in his writing but in his everyday life.
Still, although Tae Young had been the one to start this new resolve in him, he also tried not to rely on him too much. He knew that if he put too much pressure into this that he could ruin them like he did Jeong Hyeon and him. He'd never admitted to Tae Young how he felt about his past relationship, in fact they'd never brought it up. Tae Young never pressured him to talk about it and they had continued like there was never anything at all. It didn't feel right to Jung Woo, deep down, not to talk about it.
Part of him wondered how it had moved so quickly. He'd gone from a 3 year relationship with his first deep love into a new one within a few days. That's not to say he regretted it. He could say with full confidence that he loved Tae Young. He wanted to be with him, he knew that without a doubt. However Jeong Hyeon popped into his mind constantly. He'd been doing well, even publishing a book that was doing better than Jung Woo, giving him the new title of being Jung Woo's rival in the writing world.
Even with that, Jung Woo felt guilty. He felt like he'd left him, ruined him from the beginning of their relationship. Like he'd really just used him. The reasonable side of him knew that that wasn't true and Jeong Hyeon had done those things because he loved him, not because of any pressure he felt, but the unreasonable side blamed himself for the misery he now knew Jeong Hyeon had suffered. He didn't regret loving Jeong Hyeon, but he did regret the way he had. The circumstances they'd been under had ruined them. These thoughts also made Jung Woo feel incredibly guilty towards Tae Young, like even just thinking about this was betraying him. He'd be lying to himself further if he argued that it was just leftover sentimentality, and not lingering feelings. Because he did still have feelings for Jeong Hyeon. He probably always would. He was his first love.
The way that Taeyoung was, he knew that he would understand if he told him. He would give him his usual wide smile and tell him that it was okay. The sight of that would only make him feel all the more guilty.
For the most part Jung Woo kept these feelings pushed down, until the day he felt them rise up and push up to the very height of his consciousness. The day that he appeared at the office, Tae Young trailing behind him, and the announcement the unlikely pair had told him.
"You're going to publish with us?" Jung Woo got up from his seat, looking in between the two men. Jeong Hyeon silently nodded, eyes gazing intently at him. The same expression he held for Jung Woo every time he'd seen him recently, the one that said he was taking him in like it was the last time he would ever get to see him.
"The three of us will be spending a lot more time together now!" Tae Young spoke up and Jung Woo heard genuine happiness in his voice. He wondered if he knew what exactly he was doing. Why was he so eager to reunite Jung Woo with Jeong Hyeon? Why was he always so easy going? A small part of him felt bothered by this but a much greater part of him felt grateful for Tae Young. He'd never once acted jealous or possessive of Jung Woo in the past year, something that made him even more fond of his boyfriend. His kind nature never failed to surprise Jung Woo and fill him with love and admiration. For all the awe Tae Young said he held for him, Jung Woo was sure that he held more. Tae Young who always understood, always looked at the bright side. He let go of his own dream to be a writer without a second thought and found a new dream. He was selfless and deeply loyal and caring. Jung Woo knew how lucky he was to have him.
Deep within his thoughts, he hadn't noticed that in his conscious abscess from the conversation that Tae Young and Jeong Hyeon had continued talking without him. To his surprise, they seemed comfortable with each other. There was no visible animosity between them, only a seemingly mutual respect. In fact, Jung Woo could spot some of the bright eyed admiration that was usually reserved for Jung Woo in Tae Young's eyes as he looked at Jeong Hyeon. The sight of it made Jung Woo feel warm, comforted even. The two most important people standing in front of him. It made him feel like everything was okay again.
Chapter 3: Tae Young
Chapter Text
After the successful surprise reveal to Jung Woo about Jeong Hyeon's collaboration with Tae Young, the three sat themselves together in the downstairs lounge of the publishing office. After Jung Woo's book was a success, Tae Young had found himself swamped with offers from authors to publish with his company and moving to a bigger building had become a necessity. He'd even needed to hire enough employees to the point that he really started to feel like an actual publishing company.
It felt like he'd been living a dream this past year, especially with Jung Woo by his side. He still couldn't believe he'd been so lucky sometimes. How did someone as amazing as Jung Woo choose to be with someone like him? Someone who up until recently had nothing to offer. The overwhelming happiness of it all made him dizzy.
Sitting here now, with Jung Woo and now Jeong Hyeon made him feel even happier. Jeong Hyeon had the usual stoic expression Tae Young had become accustomed to, but now he could recognize the tell-tale giveaways when Jeong Hyeon was secretly feeling happy. The tiniest shine in his eyes as he looked at Jung Woo. Tae Young wasn't oblivious, he knew that Jeong Hyeon still loved Jung Woo and he knew that it was likely that Jung Woo still had feelings for him as well. Whether that be love or a familiar fondness Tae Young couldn't be sure but somehow he didn't mind either way. He didn't feel jealous, which when he told his best friend, Chi Hyung, discovered that this was apparently unusual.
If he pictured Jung Woo caring for anyone else, he did feel jealous. But if it was Jeong Hyeon he felt fine. He wasn't sure where this feeling came from but as usual he decided to just let it be. He held a certain fondness for Jeong Hyeon now himself anyways. While reading his book he had felt the same deep admiration he'd felt for Jung Woo, reading his work for the first time. After deciding to work with Jeong Hyeon and getting to know him on a more personal level, that admiration had partnered with this fondness and he knew that Jeong Hyeon had become someone he wanted in his life just the same as Jung Woo and Chi Hyung. If any of this was considered unusual he was fine with that.
"Actually," Jeong Hyeon spoke up then, breaking Tae Young from his thoughts. "I have a small confession to make." He sounded uncomfortable, immediately grabbing Tae Young's attention from his worried tone. "I lost my house. It's a long story and I know it must not make much sense considering the money I made from the book, but I couldn't afford it anymore." Tae Young definitely did feel surprised but he tries not to show it.
"Would it be okay if I stayed in the office? Just temporarily." Tae Young knew how hard this must be for Jeong Hyeon to ask and he felt a bit of pride knowing he'd reached a level with him where Jeong Hyeon felt safe enough to ask him this. He's gotten to know him enough now that he knew Jeong Hyeon had a protective side, closing himself off from others. Knowing he'd made his way through that wall, even just a little bit made Tae Young incredibly happy.
"We don't have anywhere you could sleep besides the couch." Taeyoung replies then, and gestures to the couch in question across the room. It was small and definitely not large enough to fit a sleeping Jeong Hyeon.
"I understand, I can find somewhere else. I'm sorry to have asked so suddenly." Jeong Hyeon replies and if he felt any disappointment, he hid it from his voice.
"I wasn't done," Tae Young says, sending him a smile. "I was actually going to suggest you stay with us at our house." He saw Jung Woo turn to him in shock out of the corner of his eye and quickly added "if Jung Woo doesn't mind." Jeong Hyeon seems equally as shocked as Jung Woo, if not more, staring wide eyed at Tae Young.
"I don't think that would be appropriate." He replied hesitantly.
"I would be okay with it." Jung Woo speaks up quickly, casting a quick look at Tae Young, presumably to see his reaction. Tae Young smiled in reply, nodding in encouragement. "We have a guest bedroom you could use."
Jeong Hyeon didn't seem to know how to reply, and Tae Young tried to think of how else to convince him but Jung Woo beat him to it. "You're a part of our team now, we won't let you live without somewhere to stay."
After a final moment of hesitation Jeong Hyeon finally nods in agreement. "Then it's settled!" Tae Young says brightly, smiling between the two writers. Something about this situation felt right to him.
Chapter 4: Jeong Hyeon
Chapter Text
Today was a day off for Tae Young so the three decided to celebrate by having a small party at home, inviting Chi Hyung to join them. The four stayed up late, talking and laughing. Eventually Jung Woo got too drunk and slipped away into a deep sleep. Chi Hyung quickly joined him and he and Tae Young called a taxi for Chi Hyung and together carried Jung Woo to sleep in a bed.
With them gone, they continued drinking and eventually slipped into a more serious conversation than they usually had, the alcohol making it easier to speak their minds.
"Can I ask you something?" Tae Young asked, scooching closer to him. They were sitting outside together on the floor of the balcony, the night view stretching out in front of them, and a cool breeze against their face.
"Mm." Jeong Hyeon replied, too lazy to form a proper answer.
"I don’t want to sound accusatory and I think I already know the answer but I just wanted to clear it up now, rather than later." Jeong Hyeon nods, waiting for the question to follow. "Honestly speaking," Tae Young continues. "You still love Jung Woo right?"
Jeong Hyeon isn't surprised by the question, he almost had been expecting it. He only hesitates for a moment before nodding his head. It was true after all.
"Does that bother you?" He asks. Tae Young shakes his head.
"Honestly, no. I know I should be, but I don't feel uncomfortable at all. I think if it's you, it's okay."
Jeong Hyeon felt surprised, although he was used to Tae Young being understanding, he hadn't expected him to be this understanding. "Even with me living with you both?" Tae Young nods.
"I actually really like you living here. I'm not sure since when exactly but I find myself looking for you. I feel happy when I look at you, and seeing the two of you together makes me feel comfortable somehow."
As he listened to Tae Young's confession Jeong Hyeon realized with surprise that he felt the same when he saw Jeong Hyeon and Jung Woo. It used to fill him with a secret jealousy that he tried to keep hidden but lately when he saw them smiling and laughing together all he felt was happiness. Seeing them like that made him happy because they were. Maybe he had come to care about Tae Young more than he had realized.
Around this time in their conversation the alcohol must have finally gotten to him because he forgot the rest of the night, waking up the next morning to find himself in bed. This time when he woke up, he wasn't alone. Looking to either side of him he found himself lying in between a still sleeping Tae Young and Jung Woo. A smile spread across his face despite his best efforts. He hadn't felt this warm in a while. Closing his eyes he let himself drift back to sleep.
Chapter 5: Jung Woo
Chapter Text
When Jung Woo finally came to, he found himself lying next to Jeong Hyeon. Instantly he felt a wave of panic. Worried he'd done something unforgivable while drunk, confused from the alcohol. However when he sat up he spotted Tae Young on the other side of the bed and came to the conclusion that they must have all just ended up here by accident, passing out in the same bed. Jung Woo tried not to feel guilty about being next to Jeong Hyeon instead of Tae Young and the fact that he felt a hint of happiness deep down. Part of him had missed waking up next to Jeong Hyeon.
As if he could hear his thoughts. Tae Young's eyes slowly blinked open, meeting his own. Jung Woo braced himself for Tae Young to realize the situation, to see the hurt and betrayal in his eyes. Instead, Tae Young spotted Jeong Hyeon between them and smiled, looking back at Jung Woo he mouthed "good morning" and reached over Jeong Hyeon to brush a strand of Jung Woo's hair behind his ear. Jung Woo relaxed into his touch, feeling a wave of relief wash over him. As he looked at Tae Young he felt the familiar warmth spread through him. He realized all over again just how much he had come to love Tae Young. Was it possible to love two people? Wasn't he betraying Tae Young with these feelings? What if Jeong Hyeon still loved him, what if he asked to be back together? Could Jung Woo stay loyal to Tae Young with how much he loved him or would his lingering feelings for Jeong Hyeon make himself stray away. He didn't think he could live with himself if that happened. Maybe he didn't deserve either of them.
Tae Young must have sensed the change in mood from Jung Woo because his eyebrows furrowed and he motioned to him to follow him from the room. Jung Woo did as he asked and they left the room as silently as they could. Jeong Hyeon shifted slightly when they left as if sensing the bed grow cold beside him.
Outside the room Tae Young silently pulled him into a hug, stroking the back of his head.
"What's wrong?" He mutters into his ear.
"I don't want you to hate me." Jung Woo whispers, starting to tear up. He was terrified of the confession he could feel bubbling up inside him but he knew he couldn't keep this from Tae Young. His kind, thoughtful Tae Young who never judged him, never let him suffer alone, never hurt him.
"There is nothing you could ever do to make me hate you." Tae Young says gently, pulling away and meeting his gaze intently. Jung Woo couldn't hold it back anymore.
"I still have feelings for Jeong Hyeon." He whispered, so quiet he wondered if Tae Young could even hear. After a moment of silence that left Jung Woo feeling more scared than he had ever felt in his life, Tae Young speaks.
"I know." He says simply and leans forward, pressing a soft kiss against Jung Woo's lips. His eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Tae Young. "I think you should tell Jeong Hyeon this too." Jung Woo was stunned and had to take a moment before he could speak.
"Aren't you mad?" Tae Young shakes his head, smiling at him. It looked genuine.
"If you both still love each other then that's okay with me." Jung woo's eyes fill with tears as a new fear settles in.
"Are you breaking up with me?" To him it sounded like Tae Young was wishing them well, telling him he was okay to leave him. Jung Woo didn't want that. He never wanted to leave him. He couldn't imagine a life without him. Ever since Tae Young had entered his life a year ago, his entire sense of living had completely turned around. He had become essential for Jung Woo's existence.
"Of course not." Tae Young's words nearly made Jung Woo crumple in relief.
"Then.. what are you saying?" Jung Woo asks and Tae Young hesitates.
"I think what I'm saying is if you want to date him that would be okay." Jung Woo meets his gaze.
"Do you mean… dating both of you?"
Tae Young nods. "If Jeong Hyeon is comfortable with that too."
Jung Woo can't believe what he's hearing. He'd never considered being with both of them as a possibility. Could he really love them both? Was loving two people something someone can do?
"Do you really mean it?" It's Jeong Hyeon's voice and they both turn to see him standing in the doorway of the bedroom.
"Yes." Tae Young replies in full confidence. "I really mean it."
Jung Woo slowly walks to Jeong Hyeon. "And you.. would you want to?" Jeong Hyeon's eyes soften and he slowly reaches out, pulling Jung Woo into a warm embrace. Jung Woo felt the familiar sense of safety and belonging he remembered from a year ago. He'd missed this. He’d missed Jeong Hyeon.
After a minute he pulls away and turns to Tae Young who copies Jeong Hyeon, lightly grabbing him and hugging Jung Woo.
A half hour later Jung Woo found himself sitting opposite Jeong Hyeon in their usual writing positions. The sense of normality after what felt like a very unusual event felt strange and unfamiliar. He couldn't concentrate on his writing. Finally giving up he tabbed out of his novel and hesitantly searched google typing can one person date more than one person? The page loaded and several articles appeared on the screen. Clicking on one he read the title. "Polyamory." He whispered quietly, staring at the word and reading the definition. "The practice of engaging in multiple romantic relationships, with the consent of all the people involved." It was real. A sense of relief flooded Jung Woo as he stared at the words in front of him. It was normal to love more than one person. He wasn't betraying anyone, or being unloyal. Maybe it was actually something special, something magical to love more than one person with all his heart.
Chapter 6: Tae Young
Chapter Text
Tae Young was running on an emotional high. He once again wondered if this was normal but he still couldn't bring himself to care. He felt like he was floating as he walked around the office, greeting his employees with a wider smile than usual. Jung Woo was happy, and so was Jeong Hyeon. They'd found each other again, and Tae Young felt proud to have had a part in it.
The only thing now was the little thought in the back of his mind, like an itch he couldn't scratch. It was bothering him, and he didn't know how to address it. As usual he found himself doing what he always did when he felt confused, and asked his best friend.
"Why don't you test it out?" Came Chi Hyung's reply over the phone after Tae Young called him from his office for his opinion.
Tae Young knew he was right, and he hung up with a sense of nervous resolve. He knew that if this went badly he could mess up everything. After they'd found this newfound dynamic between them, he felt worried to test it so soon but he couldn't help himself.
After work he started walking his usual route home, but with each step he felt his resolve slipping away until he found himself arriving at a bar instead of home. It wasn't often he drank, especially not at a bar. He wasn't the type to consume unless he was with friends, celebrating like he had last night. But the nerves he couldn't settle needed to be dealt with and right now he couldn't think of a better solution.
After several drinks in, his usual strong tolerance had wavered and he found himself drowsy and confused. Eventually he was vaguely aware of a bartender taking his phone and calling a number, which he assumed must be Jung Woo since he had him listed as an emergency contact in his phone.
Sure enough, after a bit Jung Woo arrived, Jeong Hyeon by him. The worried looks on both of their faces only confused him more. Was Jeong Hyeon concerned too? Did he care about him?
"Why did you drink so much?" Jung Woo mutters and carefully lifts him, Jeong Hyeon helping on Tae Young's other side. He can't find the energy to muster up a reply and he's not even sure what he would say so instead he stays silent and lets the two help him walk from the bar and to their home which thankfully was nearby. They helped him inside and instantly Tae Young let himself go loose, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor.
"Come sleep on the bed." Jung Woo says, trying to lift him back up but Tae Young refuses, shaking his head. He spots Jung Woo and Jeong Hyeon exchange a look before they squat on either side of him.
"Tae Young… are you bothered by earlier?" Jung Woo asks tentatively. "You can be honest if you're not actually okay with it." Tae Young felt a wave of guilt, realizing he had caused them to misunderstand. He realized how it must look now, getting drunk right after they had agreed to be in a relationship. He quickly shook his head, instantly regretting the decision as he felt a rush of nausea.
"I'm really okay with it, I promise." He says, trying to keep his words as solid as possible, meeting Jung Woo's eyes. Jung Woo doesn't look convinced and Tae Young wishes he could get up the courage to tell them the truth. But the fear was too strong. He wasn't used to feeling like this. He was usually the kind to go for what he wanted without fear like he had with Jung Woo. But in this situation he couldn't afford to. He needed to think this through and he couldn't do that now in his drunken state. Dragging himself up, he stumbled to the couch and collapsed onto the cushions.
"You two can take the bed tonight." He manages to get out, eyes drooping closed. "We can talk tomorrow." His eyes fully close and he slips away into darkness.
Chapter 7: Jeong Hyeon
Chapter Text
Jeong Hyeon couldn't sleep. His mind was consumed, wondering what could be bothering Tae Young so much. If it wasn't Jung Woo and his relationship, then what could it be? The company was doing fine as far as he knew, so what could be causing Tae Young so much stress?
Jung Woo shared his insomnia, sat beside him in bed. After Tae Young fell asleep he'd spent a long time sitting next to the couch on the floor, holding his hand. It took Jeong Hyeon a lot of convincing to finally get him to bed but it hadn't done any good, he still was wide awake in worry.
"Do you believe him?" Jung Woo asks. "Is he really okay with this?" Jeong Hyeon wraps his arm around Jung Woo pulling him into him and pressing a soft kiss on his forehead. It was the first time he’d touched him since this morning and the feel of him made him feel a little better.
"Tae Young doesn't lie." He replies, stroking Jung Woo's hair. "If he says he's not bothered by it, then he isn't." Jung Woo shifts, turning to look at him.
"I did some research earlier. There's this thing called Polyamory. I think that's what we would call this. Consentfully dating multiple people." Jeong Hyeon feels a hint of relief at Jung Woo's words. Maybe without realizing it he'd been a bit worried that what they were doing was wrong.
"Should we sleep now?" Jung Woo asks then and Jeong Hyeon nods.
"Let's sleep now and tomorrow we can talk with Tae Young. We will figure this out. I promise." Jung Woo nods and relaxes back into him letting himself fall asleep.
Jeong Hyeon tries to sleep too, but he can't seem to follow suit. Something was bothering him but he couldn't figure out what. Careful not to disturb Jeong Hyeon, he got out of bed and left the room, finding himself making his way over to Tae Young on the couch.
"Jung Woo?" Tae Young, had woken up and stirred at the noise.
"It's Jeong Hyeon." He spoke up softly.
"Oh." Tae Young sounded nervous somehow and Jeong Hyeon wondered if he had done something wrong. Was he the reason Tae Young was like this? He makes his way closer and takes the spot on the floor that Jung Woo had occupied earlier.
The atmosphere is thick and Jeong Hyeon can't quite name what it's filled with. Something about this situation was unfamiliar and familiar at the same time.
"If I asked you to do something weird, would you promise not to think too much into it?" Tae Young asks, the darkness hiding his expression.
"What do you mean?" Jeong Hyeon asks.
"Please, don't ask questions. I just need to know I won't ruin anything." Jeong Hyeon was stunned, he'd never heard this tone from Tae Young before.
"Whatever it is, it's okay." Jeong Hyeon finally replies. "I promise." Tae Young seems to believe him because he leans towards him slightly.
"Can I kiss you?" It comes in a soft whisper, so quiet Jeong Hyeon can barely hear him. He freezes, completely at a loss of how to reply. He never would have expected this. "I think… I think I like you." Tae Young says hesitantly. "Maybe I have for a while. I'm the type to fall suddenly like I did with Jung Woo."
Jeong Hyeon was the opposite. When he fell for Jung Woo it had happened slowly. So slowly he hadn't even realized it was happening. He hadn't even fully realized it until that night Jung Woo showed up by his door, after losing everything. Seeing him like that, broken and alone he'd felt it all at once. He realized it more clearly than he had ever known and wondered how he could have possibly missed it before.
As he stared at Tae Young in the dark he realized with a shock that he was feeling the same thing now. The puppy dog smile and easy going nature, the way he loved Jung Woo as much as Jeong Hyeon did. The passion he had for writing, the way he always confidently went for what he wanted. Jeong Hyeon had fallen for Tae Young.
Silently he nodded. He realized right then and there that he needed Tae Young to kiss him.
Slowly Tae Young leaned down and brushed his lips against Jeong Hyeon's lips. It was as soft as a kiss could possibly be, so soft he barely felt it and it was over almost immediately. Tae Young quickly moved away and waited, the silence in the room deafening.
"I like you too." Jeong Hyeon spoke up, breaking the silence with his confession. He heard Tae Young's sharp intake of breath, like he hadn't expected that response. He guessed it made sense that Tae Young hadn't thought he liked him back since Jeong Hyeon hadn't realized it himself until now.
"This just got a lot more complicated." Tae Young says with a soft laugh.
"I think that maybe it's gotten a lot more simple." Jeong Hyeon counters, reaching out and brushing his thumb against Tae Young's cheek.
Chapter Text
Jung Woo woke the next morning to find the bed empty beside him. After a short stretching section he stumbled out of bed still half awake and wandered outside to find a surprising sight.
Tae Young, still lying on the couch, had been joined by Jeong Hyeon who sat on the floor beside him. His head rested sideways on the couch next to Tae Young's in what had to be an uncomfortable position. Their hands were dangling between the couch and the floor, fingers wrapped tightly together.
Jung Woo realized then what must have been Tae Young's worries last night. He took a moment to process, trying to determine how he felt. He felt relieved when he didn't sense any jealousy, instead feeling comforted at the sight of them. He had been a little worried at what the dynamic would be between the men he loved but he knew now that it wouldn't be a problem. It definitely did surprise him however, he'd always viewed them as opposites. Seeing them get along as friends had already been surprising to him and so seeing this was even more of a shock.
Jeong Hyeon started to stir, Jung Woo quickly escaping back into the bedroom before he noticed him standing there. He thought they would want to tell him themselves. He faked sleep until he heard the two of them moving around, coming back into the living room to greet them.
He could tell instantly that they were acting weird and he couldn't help but smile to himself. Their nervousness was actually kind of endearing. He couldn't imagine feeling more fond of them than he already was. He felt immensely glad in this moment that he was someone who could love more than one person.
It didn't take long before the two confessed. They sat him down and Jeong Hyeon hesitantly admitted that they had kissed the night before and apologized that they hadn't asked his permission.
"That's okay." Jung Woo reassured them, looking in between them. He didn't think they noticed that they were holding hands, nervously comforting each other. "I couldn't be happier that the two I love feel the same towards each other." He sees them visibly relax and smiles wider, reaching his hands out and gently holding their own free hands. "If you two are happy then so am I."
He couldn't feel more lucky than in this moment. He had never felt so safe as he did now. If he didn't know better he would be convinced that he was lost in a dream. He couldn't have possibly been this lucky in life to have found these two.
"I feel so lucky." Tae Young speaks up, echoing his thoughts. Jeong Hyeon nods in agreement, looking between the two of them. "You know, it wasn't that long ago that you said I wasn't your type." Tae Young teases then, looking at Jeong Hyeon who doesn't meet his eyes.
"It was unexpected." He mumbles, sounding embarrassed. Jung Woo laughs, looking at the two of them.
"Thank you for staying by my side." He says, trying to fill his voice with as much gratitude as he can muster. It couldn't possibly be enough to express how much he was feeling but he needed them to know.
"Me too." Tae Young says. "You two are the most important people to me." He pauses. "And Choi Hyung."
Jung Woo smirks. "Don't tell me you love him too?"
Tae Young laughs. "Oh very deeply. Maybe more than I love you two."
Jeong Hyeon rolls his eyes only making Tae Young laugh harder.
"C'mon," Jung Woo says, standing. "We have writing to do. I think I'm feeling inspired."
Jeong Hyeon joins him in standing. "Me too."
Tae Young sighs. "I guess that means I'd better get to work."
Jung Woo steps towards him and stands on tiptoe, kissing his cheek. "We'll be here, waiting for you."
A smile spreads across Tae Young's face and he returns the cheek kiss. "I'll hurry back."
Jeong Hyeon steps forwards, holding out his arms. "This is a one time opportunity," He warns. "But I really need to hug you both." Jung Woo and Tae Young exchange a grin before falling into Jeong Hyeon's arms. They stay like that, wrapped up in each other's arms for a long time.
Notes:
Okay ignore the fact that I never explained how and why Jeong Hyeon lost his house. I didn't feel like coming up with a reason.
