Kronii let the world pass her by as she drifted along. Rumbles were sent up her spine from the breaks of concrete in the tiles, but other than that, she was rather relaxed, listening to her music. She wasn’t the best skater, but it was good enough.

She mostly stares forward, more focused on where she’s going, but every now and then, her vision would flick around so she could glance at her surroundings.

Then, she sees her…

And immediately falls.

She winces as she kneels up, the past few seconds being a blur, other than the sudden pain in her wrist.

“Are you okay?” A soft voice asks and Kronii looks up to see the girl she had been staring at. In her hands was Kronii’s skateboard, the bottom of the deck painted with the base of navy blue, and her family name and other squiggles lined with gold.

“Ah, yeah, thanks- ack!” She yelps as she tries to reach her hand to grab the board, but instead it recoils in pain. She grabs her stinging wrist with her good hand, trying to ignore the pain that surges through her body, sourcing from the limb.

She doesn’t notice the girl kneeling down next to her to become closer, but still untouching, like she was unsure of what to do.

She looked quite panicked, even though she was just a stranger. Kronii thought it was quite endearing.

“Um! If you want, I could help you to a- a hospital or something?”

“I think I’ve embarrassed myself enough in front of a pretty girl…” She mumbles her thoughts aloud. When she realizes it, she looks up with wide eyes, ready to deny what she had just said, but she’s met with stunned eyes as well.

“Uuu…” The girl whines as she lifts the board to hide her face.

“Wait, hey, don’t put that near your face, it’s dirty.” The skater instinctively warns as she uses her good hand to lower the board. It’s then, she realizes again just how stunningly beautiful the other girl was.

Especially with cheeks tinged with red.

“Uh- Um.” Kronii sputters out elegantly.

“Um, here!” The other girl puts her hand out as she stands up, offering to help Kronii up as well.

The skater takes the offer with her good hand before she uses it to take the board off of the girl’s hands.

“Th-Thanks again…” Kronii nervously says. If she could scratch the back of her head, she would, but her wrist was really starting to ache.

“Yeah… Do you need any help…?” The girl tilts her head.

“No, it’s- it’s fine. But thank you though- again… again.”

Her own cheeks begin to burn as the other girl giggles, like music in her ears. She distracts herself by starting to walk away already.

“I should! Get going now! Maybe I’ll- I’ll see you around sometime?”

“Maybe.” The other girl shrugs.

“Great! It’s a date!” She almost drops her board when she uses the hand to make a finger gun, failing ultimately as she almost falls over again before turning around and quickly walking away.

Kronii does not notice the reaction she’s given in return as her walking picks up to a jog, and once she turns the corner, she runs away.

Kronii stares at her wrist brace as she sits on a bench, her feet idly moving around the skateboard back and forth. Suddenly, a body slides next to hers with a little nudge, and Kronii almost falls over until she stabilizes herself. She turns her head, ready to yell out an insult, but her words die in her throat when she looks at the familiar girl.

“Can’t believe you were almost late for our date~” The girl teases, her bangs falling in front of her face to cover one eye as she tilts her head.

The skater gulps, every single thought failing her as it converts into topics a lot less charming than how she wanted to appear.

“Our- we had- date?” She sputters out in the end.

“I’m just kidding.” The girl laughs as she leans back onto the bench, Kronii mirroring her in return. “Although, you were the one who offered. Unless, you were playing me…?”

“Uh- no! I definitely remembered what I said! And I meant it!” Kronii lied. She remembered absolutely nothing about the event other than she saw a goddess and ended up with a sprained wrist. Although, it wasn’t a lie that she’d love to be graced with more time with the stranger. “N-Now, though?”

The other girl shrugs. “Maybe not now. I’m on my way to the library, and no offense, but I’m not sure if that’s your thing.”

Kronii scoffs. “Offense taken! I read! I read sooo well! I used to be one of the fastest readers in my school, y’know?”

Her eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint. “What kind of stuff do you read then?”

Her brain fries. The last thing she read was the instructions for a temporary tattoo that was halfway ripped off the side of her bicep. “Uh. All of it. Everything. Y’know jack of all trades? I’m a master of all trades.”

“Oh? Then perhaps you want to come with me?”

Kronii sweats as she hangs onto the pole of the subway with her good hand, her skateboard hanging out of her backpack. Her new friend (?) sits down and absent-mindedly scrolls through her phone, but she stands up after the next stop to offer someone else her seat.

Thus, they stand face to face, their hands almost touching as they hold on to the pole for stability.

“Hey, uh…” Kronii clears her throat. “I never got your name.”

The girl giggled for a moment, covering her mouth as she took a step closer due to the subway filling up a little bit more. “Fauna.” She ends up whispering in Kronii’s ear.

“Fauna…” The skater repeats, wrapping her arm around the pole, minding the brace on her wrist, so she can lift her other one to have Fauna shake it. “I’m Kronii.”

The girl grabs her hand, “Nice to meet you, Kro-!” Before she can shake it, though, she’s pushed into the skater by the people around them as the car they’re in makes a sudden turn.

Instinctively, Kronii wraps her free arm around Fauna to catch her as her other arm tightens around the pole. After they settle, the girl leans back to grab the pole, keeping her face hidden from the taller skater.

“You alright?” Kronii asks in a low voice, head completely filled with concern.

“Yeah, Th-Thank you, Kronii.”

“No problem.” The skater shrugs.

“Sooo…” Kronii’s eyes look around as she walks behind Fauna. “Are we looking for something in particular?”

“Hm,” Fauna digs around in her bag. “The next volume for this series, actually.” She mentions as she hands a book to Kronii’s good hand.

The skater looks over the book, tilting her head as she squints her eyes to read the title.

“Isn’t this… plants and stuff?”

“Well, whaddya know?” Fauna teases as she takes the book back from Kronii’s hands. “Maybe you do read everything.”

“Uh- yeah!” Kronii scoffs before lowering her voice as she remembers where they were. “Yeah, definitely. I’m a professional in everything, I told you.”

“Mhm.” Fauna hums knowingly as she turns into an aisle of bookshelves, Kronii close behind to dig herself into an even deeper grave.

“Comfy?” Fauna giggles as she looks down at Kronii, melted into a bean bag in one of the darker, more secluded corners of the library.

Kronii strains her neck upwards to look at Fauna, taking a moment to hold her hand above her mouth as she hides a yawn. “Yeah, sorry. Was just closing my eyes for a bit. Did you wanna…?” She scooches over on the bean bag, patting the new spot.

The other girl smiles as she ends up taking the seat. Although the beanbag was quite large, it was still a tight fit, but she seemed to be quite satisfied with that, seeing as she ends up leaning into Kronii even more.

In an awkward shift, Kronii moves her arm back to rest against the bean bag so it wouldn’t be scrunched up, but it ends up almost wrapping around Fauna’s shoulders. She moves it back even further to avoid that, not knowing whether or not she should be doing this on the first daaa…. Wait.

“Hey, Fauna?”

“Hm?” The girl notes as she looks up at Kronii, brushing her bangs behind her ear to get a better view. The action makes the skater’s heart skip a beat for a moment before she clears her throat, looking away, slightly embarrassed.

“Is this… actually a date?”

She feels Fauna shift a little, and for a moment, her gut wrenches. Though, when she looks back, she sees the other girl only closer.

“Do you want it to be?”

She gulps. “D-Do you?”

“Kronii, I asked you first.”

The skater only looks away in defeat, covering her face with her wrist brace, though her red ears were still visible. With a tremble in her voice, she nods. “Y-yeah.”

A satisfied hum comes from the other side of her as she feels Fauna lean back into her arm. “Good. I want it to be a date too.”

Kronii blinks as she turns back to Fauna, who has opened her book and started reading. “You do?”

“Mhm. Although, I do feel a bit guilty for stealing you for the day, considering we met again just by chance.” She closes the book again, keeping her finger in the pages as a bookmark. “What, uh, what were you waiting for by the way?”

“Oh, I was gonna go home and sleep, so no biggie.”

Fauna shifts again, turning towards the skater. “Have you not slept yet?”

Kronii shrugs, allowing herself to melt into the bean bag again. “I work night shifts.”

Fauna leans into the girl’s side, opening her book. “You don’t need to stay, y’know. I already appreciate you coming here with me in the first place.”

“Nah, it’s fine. Besides, I uh, I followed you here so I don’t really know how to get back.” She closes her eyes.

The girl sits up. “Then we can leave if you want-”

“Fauna.” Kronii uses her good hand to pull the girl back down into the beanbag before wrapping her arm around her waist to keep her there. “It’s fine.”

The skater doesn’t notice the way the bookworm’s cheeks darken as she settles into the embrace. “I’ll wake you up when it’s time to leave?” She whispers, carefully leaning her head onto Kronii’s shoulder.

“Mm. Please.” Kronii murmurs back.

Fauna smiles to herself when she feels the skater relax, small breaths making their way to her neck. She lets it happen, enjoying the comforting feeling of stressless serenity.

“Kronii! I’m going to fall!” Fauna yells as she holds on tighter to Kronii’s shoulders.

“You won’t, I’ve got you.” The skater reassures, holding onto Fauna’s waist.

The two were on another one of their countless dates. Now that Kronii’s wrist had gotten better, she had decided to try and teach  Fauna to skate in the park, the cloudy skies making for good shade. Although she didn’t know any tricks, and mainly used skating for transportation, it was still a fun idea.

It was also a very good idea to hold onto Fauna.

“Ah! Kronii!” Fauna yelps as she falls off the skateboard and right into Kronii’s arms.

The skater catches her immediately without fail, also managing to stop the board with her foot before it goes flying any further.

“You’re alright!” Kronii chuckles as she feels Fauna hold onto her tighter.

“I told you I was gonna fall!” Fauna whines into Kronii’s jacket.

“And I told you I’ve got you!”

Kronii lets out another chuckle when Fauna looks up to pout at her before hiding her face in the skater’s jacket again. She muffles something, but Kronii tilts her head.

“Sorry, what was that?”

Fauna rests her chin on Kronii’s shoulder to whisper into her ear.

“Don’t let go then.”

Kronii gulps, her face turning red until she’s suddenly shoved away. Fauna turns away from her, but she can see the tips of her ears burning with blush.

“Sorry! Ignore that, I just, uh,”

Kronii suddenly grabs her hand, quickly kicking the skateboard onto its side so it wouldn’t roll away, and pulls the girl closer.

“Fauna.” Kronii speaks, her voice wavering for a moment with doubt that quickly leaves when she sees (what she hopes is) the same emotion in Fauna’s eyes. The skies darken, but she only focuses on the sun that stares back at her.

“Kr-Kronii?”

“Please go out with me.”

“Huh?!”

“Like. Be my girlfriend. I mean, I know we’ve only been on dates, but I want to actually date you. Call you my girlfriend, and you call me yours. If that’s- Is that okay?” She sputters out, her face burning more and more by the second.

“Um…” Fauna looks away for a moment, brushing her bangs from her face. “I thought… we already were…?”

Kronii blinks.

“We were?!”

“Ye-yeah?! I mean, I guess we never said anything, so it makes sense, but I kinda… I mean we’ve been doing this for a few months now and… we always refer to it as dates… so…” Her voice shrinks with each word.

Kronii bites her lips for a second.

“Fauna…?”

The girl lets out a high pitched squeak in response as she looks back at Kronii.

The skater gulps.

“Can I… kiss you?”

She watches Fauna open her mouth for a moment, trying to respond but no words come out. She looks around in a panic, before trying to speak again, though there’s nothing. Each passing second has Kronii’s heart speeding up, until it skips a beat as Fauna finally nods.

Kronii brings a hand up to cup Fauna’s cheek, taking a moment to brush the shorter girl’s bangs out of her face once again. Her mouth feels dry for a moment as she cracks out a small voice. “Are you sure?-”

“Please just kiss me already, Kronii.”

Well, she isn’t one to reject those words.

With a quick but careful movement, she leans in and closes the gap. She can feel Fauna smile against her own lips, causing herself to smile as well as she moves her hands around Fauna’s waist to bring her even closer. In the corner of her mind, she notices Fauna moving her own arms up as well to drape themselves onto Kronii’s shoulders, and the skater obliges the silent request, pulling Fauna in for even more.

They finally break, stuck looking in each other’s eyes. However, with a small flinch of something tiny falling on her head, Kronii looks up and notices the sky had become a lot darker than when they had first started.

She blinks again as a raindrop falls into her eye, causing her to recoil. Fauna giggles at the reaction as she huddles close to Kronii, who has started taking off her jacket to shield them from the drizzle.

“Crap.” Kronii grumbles, looking at their surroundings. “I didn’t think it would rain today. Here, cover yourself with this.” She mutters as she leaves the jacket draped over Fauna and quickly runs over to the tree where they had put their stuff to pick them up. “Sorry, looks like we’ll have to end our d-date early.”

She wants to facepalm at the stutter, the realization hitting her mid sentence.

“We don’t have to.” Fauna says as she grabs onto Kronii’s arm to link it together. “Come on, my house isn’t that far from here.”

Kronii gulps as she becomes warm once again, despite the cold rain that started to pick up speed.

The skater awkwardly stands at the doorway, worried about dripping all over the place. Fauna giggles at the stiffness.

“You can come in, y’know.”

“Uh. It’s fine, I probably shouldn’t stay long anyways-”

Thunder crashes from outside the house, making both of them jolt.

“On second thought!” Kronii quickly speedwalks over to Fauna, holding her from behind.

“You scared of the thunder?”

“No.” She muffles into the bookworm’s hair that was still a bit damp from the rain, but not entirely due to Kronii’s jacket that had shielded her. Another boom of thunder has her jolting before she digs herself deeper into Fauna’s neck. “Maybe.”

Fauna giggles as she turns around in Kronii’s arms to throw her own onto the taller girl’s shoulders once again. “Do you wanna stay the night, maybe?”

“Isn’t that… pushing it a bit far?”

Fauna shrugs, scratching the back of Kronii’s hair, enjoying the way the undercut felt in her fingers. “It’s just a normal sleepover. Maybe not… that kinda stuff yet. Although, I do only have one bed.” She teases, and starts laughing at the way Kronii’s cheeks turn red.

She cups the tomato’d face in her hands and pulls it in, kissing the tip of Kronii’s nose. “I’m kidding. I wouldn’t mind though since you’ve already slept around me, and cuddles would keep me warm in these trying times~”

Kronii grumbles, leaning forward to hide her face in the shorter girl’s shoulders.

“Faunaaa, I just found out we were dating, you can’t be doing this type of stuff to me!”

“Sorry, sorry!” The bookworm speaks through laughs. “It’s just so fun teasing my girlfriend.”

Kronii stiffens up for a moment before mumbling into Fauna’s damp clothes. “Girlfriend…”

An inquisitive hum comes from the other girl. “That’s what you wanted right?”

The skater tightens her grasp around Fauna as she leans back up, a breath away from her lips. “Yeah… If that’s okay…”

Fauna lets out another soft chuckle before closing the gap again. “Yes, yes. It’s all okay, Kronii.”

Fauna hummed as she made her way to the open bathroom door, swinging around it to ask her girlfriend (girlfriend!!) a question. “Does it fit fine?-” Her voice squeaks a bit as Kronii turns to her.

The fitted shirt was doing wonders.

“It’s a little tight, but at least it’s dry.” Kronii chuckles as she tries to straighten the shirt out.

Her girlfriend (girlfriend!!!!!) was generous enough to offer a shirt and some gym  shorts, which felt a bit cold for now, but Kronii had mentioned that she preferred it that way, so she wouldn’t get too warm in the blanket.

Fauna herself wore a nightgown, which in reality was just a big shirt with extra steps. (Cute!!!)

The shorter girl snaps out of the trance she didn’t realize she was under as Kronii flips the switch to turn off the bathroom light.

The skater sits on the bed, twiddling her fingers for a moment as she watches Fauna turn off the lightswitch before using the moonlight from the window to make her way to the bed. “Are you sure it’s alright for me to sleep in your bed?”

“What’s the point of having you here if you don’t?” Fauna responds without missing a beat, already crawling past Kronii and making her way into the covers.

“I thought it was because I was scared of thunder.” Kronii mumbles as she follows her girlfriend (girl!! friend!!!!!) into the blanket, letting it fall around them.

“So you are scared of thunder!” Fauna smiles as if she had won a bet.

Kronii follows it up with a grumble as she pulls the girl into her arms like a stuffed animal. “Oh, shut up.”

Fauna happily hums as she snuggles into the warmth. “It’s okay, I’ll protect you, milady skater boy!”

The skater in question blurts out an unexpected laugh as she looks down at the girl in her arms. “You having fun?”

“When I’m with you? Always!” She giggles before shifting upwards just a little bit for another kiss.

Kronii sighs as she relaxes into the bed, hugging the girl closer to her. “You nerd.”

“Your nerd.” She can feel Fauna grin into her collarbone, and can’t resist leaving one more kiss to the top of her head.

“Your skater boy.”
