Chapter Text
It was way too early to be awake, yet this was necessary. The light cascaded serenely around her petite form as she folded clothes neatly into a shape small enough to shove into her suitcase. The frown on her face was evident, a weak attempt at hiding it went down the drain, though it was what it was and life always gave her the most sour lemons they could find.
Letting out a deep sigh while standing up she went ahead and closed her closet door, finished with whatever clothes she may need. Her hand lingered on the door almost as if to say goodbye to the mahogany she had painted a good few years ago, finger tips tracing the dried acrylic that formed a picture of a hydrangea, the light blue petals bringing up almost bad memories, though the blue flower was supposed to mean apology. Her therapist said that they could be an apology from Y/N to Y/N, she wanted to scoff yet that would've been disgraceful.
But she was mostly ready. Bags and suitcases packed, only awaiting the travel that Y/N's soul ached for.
You see, Y/N Lovett didn't feel at home in this house. It was a very nice and big house in Kantai City, Alola and it had everything she would have needed, but something inside her told her that she didn't belong. There is a big issue with her needing to find a place she feels home at, so her therapist said, and that's why the aforementioned therapist came in contact with an exchange student program with big academy schools. Uva Academy in the region of Paldea has responded, happily offering a place for her.
This was supposed to be good for her. Who knows, maybe it will. All optimism has left her though and it felt like she was just being discarded again.
She lives with her dad - after being taken from her mom - and a mother who wasn't her own. Two older half brothers try and the younger half sister can't even walk yet. From any outside point of view, they looked fine.
She jumped with a yelp after feeling something wrap around her ankle. Dulled eyes moved down from the world inside of her head, down towards her legs to see her partner Pokemon Mimikyu look at her with concern, orbs located on the lower side of the costume - not the decoys - were blown with upset.Lips formed a line and she plopped down into a sitting position. The critter crawled onto her legs and snuggled into her stomach and chest, in turn Y/N wrapped her arms around the Pokemon.
“Hey now, I'm fine.”, she tried to reason while thumbing around on the texture of the lump that was a Pikachu costume. Black limbs from under the cloth only wrapped around her middle tighter in distrust.
Mimikyu was coming with her. No question.
“Mimi!”, the Pokemon prided itself as her caretaker and she is his. He will be the only one she will be able to communicate with, she assumed, as her Paldean is terrible and broken, having had an awful teacher in her old school.
“Yes, you and I will be fine. Sorry. Everything is packed, so shall we go?”
Not getting an answer from the ghost/fairy type she stood up while carrying it, already knowing that he won't let go of her. Calling out to her dad, he was at her doorstep pretty quickly.
“Ready?”, he spoke in a gruff tone, as if he almost didn't know what he was supposed to say. Is he supposed to say goodbye now? It's not like she won't come back, she's only 16.
She saw his confusion right through his tall facade. He was always bad with words, emotions and overall care. “Yeah, I'm ready. But I won't be able to carry anything with Kyu in my arms here.”
“Ah, right.”
He walked further into the room to grab the suitcase and bags and both of them made their way down the stairs and outside.

While he was transporting everything onto the boat after a small walk , she looked around. Her older brothers had already said they farewells to her last evening, as they're preferring sleep over waking up at 5 am to say some words, she assumed. Her step mother exited the house with them, little Vertie in her arms fast asleep. They talked, but she drowned it out. Instead she looked around the city and just observed, while taking deep breaths to still the nausea. Many tourists, as always in Alola, but also familiar faces of neighbors and their respective Pokemon.
The smell of the ocean and the strongest daylight will stay in Alola, and she wont wake up to it tomorrow.
“Farewell, Alola…”, she muttered out, holding Kyu a little tighter, at which the critter chirped.
“Saying goodbye without having reached the airport yet?”, a sultry yet amused voice spoke and Y/N snapped out of it to see island kahuna Olivia. She played around with the earring that was just as pink as the rest of the woman's outfit and gave Y/N a soft smile.
“A personal goodbye from the kahuna? What do you want?”
Y/N sighed at her fathers immediate suspicion, no offense struck the strongly built woman though, as she only laughed. “I look over my island's people, especially if they have quit the island challenge early and therefore worry me.”
”Right, I did that…”, Y/N thought and her dad let out a huff.
Olivia turned on her heels, from facing the tall figure of Y/Ns dad to the much smaller frame of Y/N herself. “You are a strong trainer, Im sure Uva Academy will only strengthen that skill of yours.”, her hands moved up Y/N's hair to put a hair clip in the shape of a rhombus in,”And this will remind you, that Alola isn't far.”
The 16 year old teared up a little.
“And once you're back, you will surely beat me in battle.”, she ended with an honest smile. Your dad coughed as a signal.
Right. You have to leave now.
With a teary nod you board the boat with a little help. Next stop would be the airport. And then the big region of Paldea.
