A gift for you

Summary:

Hyunjin find a little gift on his bed. But from whom? Deep down he has an idea but he is not sure whether he should be happy about it or not.

Work Text:

There was a gift on his bed. There. Was. A. Gift. On. His. Bed. Hyunjin looked down at the gift. It was a small blue box with a big silver bow. Who on earth placed it there? With some hesitation Hyunjin took it from his bed and stared at it a little longer. Slowly he opened the box. In it was a pair of earrings. And some beautiful ones. Hyunjin held up one of them and watched it closely. Some stars were hanging below a stone that looked like aquamarine. It looked kinda dreamy and he liked it. He looked into the box again and found a little letter.

Dear Hyunjin,

I would be so happy if you wear these tonight to our dinner.

Hyunjin was confused. It had to be one of the boys but he still couldn't think of someone who would just give him earrings. Maybe Felix? He definitely needed to ask him later to make sure. And not even half an hour later he left the dorm. Chan, Changbin and Jisung would come directly from the studio so he went to meet Minho, Felix, Seungmin and Jeongin. Together they left throughout the second entrance of the building and walked to the restaurant they would eat.

"Do you have new earrings?", Jeongin asked, pointing towards the earrings. Softly Hyunjin nodded, looking towards Felix to check whether he could find anything proof it was the younger man who gifted them to him.

"Where did you get them?", asked the man in question.

"They were in a little box on my bed. I don't know who they were from."

"Oh so you have a secret admirer?" Suddenly Hyunjins cheeks started to feel very warm.

"Probably", muttered Minho. "But it's not me."

"You sure, Hyung?", Hyunjin joked with a soft smile.

"Do you want to eat tissues?" Immediately Hyunjin shook his head and hid behind Jeongin. "I would rather cook everything you want than gifting you earrings."

"So that's why you always cook for Chan-Hyung and Seungminnie, Hyung", laughed Felix and started to run as he had met eyes with Minho. "Love you, Hyung."

"He can be lucky he is such a sunshine", the eldest muttered under his breath and looked at Seungmin for a second. Hyunjin thought, probably to check whether Seungmin got the hint but Seungmin seemed in his own world, watching the Christmas lights above his head.

"We should get going. Changbin-Hyung texted and asked when we would arrive and whether they should order drinks for us."

"Sounds like a good idea", Seungmin said. It seems he had come back to earth. Fastly Jeongin texted the others and they continued their walk.

It seemed that none of the four boys around him had gifted him the earrings. Deep down Hyunjin already knew that none of the boys would have done it. But he had hoped because that would have meant one particular person couldn't have done it. Hyunjin let out a low sigh and shook his head. He needed to stop thinking about it.

After around 5 more minutes they reached the restaurant, entered it and a waitress took them to their dining room.

"Finally!", Jisung shouted as they entered the room.

"It's not like you would starve to death, Jisung", scolded Minho as he sat down next to Chan. The eldest had a soft smile on his lips but he looked tired. And Hyunjin was not the only one that had noticed.

"Did you even sleep the last few nights, Hyung", Seungmin asked and shook his head. Instead of answering Chan started to whine for a moment.

"My head was full the last two nights. But I slept a bit." Hyunjin noticed how Minho and Seungmin exchanged glances. Hyunjin knew that glance. With a smile he shook his head and sat down on one of the chairs.

"Are that new earrings?", asked Changbin, pointing towards Hyunjin's ears. With a shy smile Hyunjin nodded, playing with the earrings for a second. "Looks good on you."

"Hyung!", Hyunjin whined and hid his face behind his hands. His cheeks felt uncomfortably hot. He heard Changbin laugh, which made him smile too. When he pulled his hand back he met eyes with Jisung and he couldn't read his glance.

Rather soon their drinks came and they ordered food. He found himself sitting between Changbin and Jisung. It was strange sitting next to Jisung. They hadn't talked much in the last few weeks. Since that one night.

Hyunjin let out a sigh and took a sip of his drink. For a moment he felt Jisung's eyes on him but when he looked towards the younger man, the latter looked away, clearly avoiding Hyunjin.

Hyunjin enjoyed the time with the others the most he could. Even though their dorms were not as far away from each other, they didn't spend dinner together as much as they once did. Soon they played rock, scissors, and paper to decide who would pay. Luckily Hyunjin didn't need to pay but Jisung did. For a second he whined but then paid for all of them. Seeing the younger man like that made him want to coo. Jisung just looked so adorable. Hyunjin was already walking out with Jeongin.

"What's going on between you and Jisung-Hyung?", the younger one asked.

"Nothing." Which was the problem. Somehow at least. But to be honest he was confused. He knew Jeongin didn't believe him but Jeongin let him be and he was thankful for it.

When the rest got out as well they started their walk home. Felix had hooked his arm with Hyunjin's as they walked in the middle of the group. Slowly he was feeling tired.

"Oh look!", Felix muttered, pointing towards a big Christmas tree. "Can we take a picture together?" And who would they be if they would deny a wish from Felix? So Felix took his phone out and got ready to take a selfie. The other, including Hyunjin, moved closer to each other and posed. From the corner of his eyes he noticed Jisung next to him. He felt his heart beating faster against his chest. When Jisung moved even closer to get on the selfie, Hyunjin needed to wrap his arms around the others shoulder out of fear Jisung would fall.

"Thanks Hyung", whispered Jisung when they had finished the selfie and continued their walk home.

In front of the dorms they said goodbye and with a loud yawn Hyunjin entered his dorm. He was tired and just wanted to go to bed. He made himself ready for bed in automatic-mode. That was until he placed the earrings back into the box. He needed to talk to him. With the box in his hand he walked out of his room and knocked on Jisung's door. Hopefully he wasn't too late and Jisung was already asleep. Slowly he opened the door. Jisung looked up from his phone and pulled his headphones out.

"What's the matter?", he asked but when he saw the box in Hyunjins hand, his eyes grew wider. And Hyunjin knew that Jisung knew why he was there.

"It's your gift, isn't it?" After some hesitation, Jisung nodded, his eyes everywhere but at Hyunjin. The latter walked further into the room and closed the door behind him.

"We need to talk, Jisung." Hyunjin didn't want to talk about it but they needed to. They really did because it was starting to affect the group. Slowly Jisung nodded and nodded towards his chair next to the bed. Hyunjin sat down, the box still in his hands. "I didn't expect to get a gift from you", muttered Hyunjin. Jisung looked nearly amused at that.

"Why?"

"Because of that night." They met eyes and Hyunjin found so many emotions in Jisung's eyes but still couldn't read them.

"I'm sorry I said I couldn't remember the night because I was too drunk", Jisung apologised, looking down on his hands. For a second Hyunjin started to feel angry but then he took a deep breath. It wouldn't change anything if he got angry.

"Why did you lie?"

"Because I was afraid you wouldn't feel the same as I do. It was selfish I know and I'm sorry for that."

"So you remember us kissing?" Jisung's cheeks were turning the shade of a strawberry.

"Maybe?", he stuttered, playing with his blanket.

"Maybe?", Hyunjin asked, nearly giggling because the younger one looked so cute but lost at the same time. "Do you want to refresh your memory?" Hyunjin himself didn't even know where that came from but he let it happen.

"You are not angry?"

"I think I was more sad than angry. You apologised and I know your mind", Hyunjin whispered, knocking softly against Jisung's forehead. "Sometimes it goes into panic mode even when it's not necessary." At that Jisung started to laugh. He seemed relieved.

Slowly, Hyunjin moved closer to Jisung until he carefully sat down on the younger man's lap. Jisung's hands moved towards Hyunjin's hips.

"Will you promise me that you will not deny the kiss again?" Immediately Jisung shook his head.

"I promise you that." And with that Jisung pulled closer and connected their lips. Hyunjin's hands found their way up towards Jisung's hair, softly pulling at the soft hair. A light huff came out of Jisungs mouth and he closed his eyes for a moment.

"I like you", Hyunjin whispered against Jisung's lips. "So damn much."

"I like you too, Hyung. I really do."

"Imagine pre-debut us hearing this", muttered the younger man with a soft giggle after a moment, hiding his face in the crook of Hyunjin’s neck.

“They would have thought we lost our minds", Hyunjin replied, also giggling.

"Will you stay the night?" Hyunjin didn't need to think about it long and he nodded. Slowly Jisung let himself fall back onto his matrace and pulled Hyunjin with him.

"Why did you give me the earrings now?" Hyunjin started to play softly with the other man's hair.

"I couldn't stand the uncomfortable atmosphere between us anymore. I knew I needed to do something…"

"I'm proud you did something. Thank you Sungie", mumbled Hyunjin with a smile that lasted from ear to ear. Jisungs cheeks turned red within seconds and a lightheaded laugh escaped his lips. Instead of saying anything, he pulled Hyunjin closer and made himself comfortable.

"I'm tired, let's sleep."

"You little liar", the older man laughed but followed Jisungs wish and made himself comfortable as well. Then he gave Jisung a soft kiss.

"Sleep well."

"With you in my arms, I definitely will", mumbled Jisung against Hyunjins chest. "Sleep well too." Jisung's warmth against him made Hyunjin really tired and soon he drifted off into dreamland.
