Chapter Text

“Are you kidding me? Mooooom,” Ash whined. “We have to go on vacation with the Doons?”

“They’re very kind to invite us Ash. Show a little respect alright?” His mom replied. Ash rolled his eyes but nodded grudgingly.

“Alright now go pack your bag,” Ash’s mom told him.

“Fine I’m going,” Ash said, trudging up to his room. He took his purple and black suitcase out of his closet and opened it on his bed. He packed a couple shirts and pants, toiletries, and his gaming laptop and mouse.

“Why would you invite Ash?” Red complained. He pushed his sunglasses up. “Can’t it just be our family? Pangi and Spep are already enough to deal with.”

“Oh come on Red, it won’t be that bad. The Swags are our friends.” Red’s dad replied.

Red sighed, knowing it was useless to argue. “Fine I’ll go pack.”

“Red say hello to Mr and Mrs Swag,” Red’s mom said. The two families had met up at the airport.

“Hello to Mr and Mrs Swag,” Red deadpanned. Ash rolled his eyes.

“You think you’re so funny,” he muttered under his breath, so that only Red could hear.

Red flashed him a cocky grin. “Am I not?” Ash just glared in response.

The two families sat apart on the airplane, which was unfortunate for the parents but the two teenage boys were relieved.

Red’s brothers were annoying him.

“Reddddd can we go hang out with Ash?” Pangi asked.

“No Pangi, we can’t.” Red replied curtly.

“But why not?” Pangi persisted.

“Yeah, you’re obviously in love with him,” Spepticle added.

Red whacked him in the arm. “I am not!” Spep raised his eyebrows, his pale gray, almost white eyes sparkling with mischief. Pangi grinned from behind his own sunglasses.

“I’m not in love with Ash, I don’t even like him. I don’t know what you two are getting on about.” Red muttered, adjusting his sunglasses. He slouched lower in his airplane seat, but he could see Pangi and Spepticle giving each other a conspiratorial look. He rolled his eyes.

“This is the vacation house we’ll be staying at.” Ash’s mom said, sweeping an arm towards the house. The two families walked in.

“Pangi, Spep, stop whispering to each other,” Red hissed. The two younger boys giggled.

“Alright so,” Red’s mom said. “The parents get their separate rooms, Pangi and Spep get a room, and-“

Suddenly it dawns on Red. “Oh hell nah-“ he begins.

“Ash and Red will share a room.” Red’s mom finished. Red gaped at his mom in outrage.

“You have got to be kidding me.”
