Work Text:
Another day of endless work finds Keito at Rhythm Link’s office, checking job offers from brands and live requests that need authorization. Autumn approaching can be felt on the low temperatures, and despite these conditions, Keito feels on a surprisingly good mood.
It’s around 9 p.m. when Keito gets a message on Whole Hands, and he considers for two seconds to just ignore it and keep working, but a minute of rest won’t kill him.
He opens the app and finds messages from the groupchat with his roommates.
Shino Hajime
Hello! I’m going to sleep over with Tomoya tonight!!
Hidaka Hokuto
And I’ll go with Akehoshi.
Hasumi Keito
Ok.
Good luck, Hidaka.
Hidaka Hokuto
Thank you…
Keito doesn’t think anything about it. If anything he admires the decision of Hokuto to spend the night in a dorm room that could cause him a migraine in least than a minute if he sets foot on it. A dorm room with members which voices that can be heard from the 3rd floor if they propose to it. And this repeatedly happens.
Keito is eternally grateful to the roommates he has, who are calm and doesn’t really cause problem, especially when he gets home late and exhausted most nights and can afford the luxury to sleep peacefully. And even if a night alone doesn’t sounds bad, if he thinks thoroughly about it, there are few the opportunities to have an empty dorm, and it would be a shame to waste it…
Before he can think it more he decides to open another chat.
Hasumi Keito
I’m alone at my dorm today.
Would you like to come?
And feeling a little brave he adds,
Princess.
Keito isn’t used to using pet names; just thinking about it makes his face grow hot. He prefers to show affection with action rather than words, but on this occasion he can, just for once, let himself say those words to his partner.
Keito sees how quickly the messages are marked as read, the little bubble indicating that it’s typing… Keito sighs and blocks his phone. It doesn’t matter how much time it pass he will always feel like an embarrassed teenager with these things.
His phone vibrates.
He sighs again and takes his phone. Keito can’t be a coward now.
Wataru
Oh?
I would love to be coming tonight ;)
My love. ♡
If Keito was feeling embarrassed by his own message, after reading the ones sent by Wataru he feels now completely red. Only Wataru can say that kind of scandalous things…
And of course is important to note how shyness doesn’t seem to exist within his boyfriend’s body, never short on endearing terms and attentions for Keito. He can’t feel luckier about it; honestly, Wataru has the facility to unleash whirlwinds and tsunamis within Keito, even through the screen of his phone. Adoration for his boyfriend the biggest of those thousands of feelings inside him.
After exchanging messages finishing details Keito goes back to his work, with renovated energy to finish as quickly as possible.

It’s 22:30 p.m. when Keito can feel satisfied with his work for the day. Excited by the date with his boyfriend, after closing his office he goes to Es dining hall, where he can already see his boyfriend waiting for him at one of the tables.
After approaching him, Wataru takes one of his hands and kisses it, smiling when his boyfriend blushes at the contact. Wataru would usually greet him with a big hug and lots of roses, but they are in public, and after some discussion they had decided to be more reserved, for the sake of not arousing suspicion. But nothing will really stop Wataru from showing him affection with little gestures.
“Keito, I missed you.”
“Me too”, is what Keito says in a low voice, as he takes a seat. “We met today at noon” is what he adds. But Keito could swear that Wataru knows how to read his mind; one of his many talents, maybe. Wataru is patient with him, and understands what he wants to convey, in the way Keito takes his hand on the table, and interlocks their fingers together.
One would think that having a relationship while being idols is complicated, and for many reasons it is, Keito can affirm. First, the need to keep their relationship private; fans would die if they knew about it. Especially Akatsuki fans, who are very protective of their idol, to Keito’s surprise.
And second, the lack of time. Both Wataru and he are extremely occupied people, starting their days at 6 a.m. and finishing it mostly past midnight.
Is because of those reasons that they make the most of every moment they can find to spend together, when one has to take a paper to the other’s office (which could be easily done by email, but it’s the excuse that counts), or having lunch and dinner together, which is their little routine when they have the time.
At the end of the day, with their hands interlocked and the tranquility of the night at Es the feeling of happiness in keito’s chest for the love he lives with the boy sitting by his side makes worthwhile every effort put onto their relationship.
Their dinner passes by peacefully, at that hour the amount of people decreases drastically, and they can chat about their day in a nice ambient. Fine’s practice went well, and Akatsuki is starting rehearsal for their Halloween live. A normal day.
After finishing their food and before going back to the dorms Wataru decides to order a piece of cake, one with cream and strawberries. Keito is a bit surprised by this, that kind of sweets is a strong no for idols, his brain reminds him, but he doesn’t say anything about it; a craving can be forgiven once in a while. And walking shoulder by shoulder, with their hands secretly interlocked on the pocket of Wataru’s jacket, they depart to the dormitories.
Stepping outside the building, Keito turns his head to stare at his boyfriend. He’s a little bit taller than Keito; and illuminated by the moon and the outside lights he looks especially beautiful. Wataru notices him staring and quickly steals a kiss from him. None of them can erase the smile from their faces for the rest of the walk.

After entering Keito’s room and turning on the lights, Wataru goes straight to sit on the couch, leaving the cake on the coffee table, like he is on his own home, how incorrigible, Keito can't help but think, heading to the bathroom while Wataru watches him with an innocent smile (that has none innocence).
Checking that Keito is really out of view Wataru sighs and takes a look at the clock on the wall. It marks 11:55 p.m. For a moment he thought they wouldn’t make it in time.
Quickly he arranges the cake on a more pretty way and adds a candle he had saved on his pocket, as well as a little bouquet of flowers, roses obviously, for his boyfriend.
11:59 p.m. reads the clock when Keito steps outside the bathroom and is instantly tackled by Wataru who kisses him on the cheek while he skillfully covers his eyes.
“What the hell are you doing Wataru?!” Keito asks trying to free himself from the grip of his boyfriend leading him to the couch in the room.
“I hope you washed your hands, love.”
“What?!”
Keito feels the breath of his boyfriend on his ear at the same time he is being forcingly sat. And when his eyes are uncovered he can notice two things: first, the room is dark, illuminated by the second thing he sees, the lighted candle on the cake, and the arrangement made by Wataru.
“What is this? This is all… for me?” asks astonished Keito, while his boyfriend goes around the couch, sits beside him and wraps his arms around his waist to finally rest his head on his shoulder in a half hug.
“Happy birthday, my dearest Keito.” Wataru smiles and kisses his cheek. “Make a wish and blow the candle.” If Keito wasn’t so amazed thinking what kind of idiot forgets his own birthday he would complain about Wataru’s mischievous smile and the double meaning of his words, but well, he has more important tasks at hand now.
Make a wish… there are so many things Keito could ask for in this life… not being drowned in work, less stress, peace on his mind, success for his unit… but at the moment he can only close his eyes and wish for this happiness he feels to be everlasting, forever. And he blows out the candle.
-
“So you forgot your own birthday? Ah… my poor Keito, what would you do without me?” Wataru sighs dramatically while he takes a bite of cake, but he instantly smiles, genuinely happy for his boyfriend.
“Shut up.” Keito answers him, and before Wataru has time to say some nonsense like make me, Keito is already kissing him. Smiling like the idiot in love he is before deepening the kiss, tasting cream and love on his lover mouth.
Definitely the best start of birthday he ever had.
