Summary:

Reader is struggling and finally snaps.

Notes:

Sorry, this was really rushed and I feel so much better after writing. I'm not really good at writing angst, so this was a first.

Work Text:

The monitor of your computer stares blankly at you. Message upon message from each friend you have is sent. A full moon shines brightly in your barely lit room. Everything was calm at first, things were going to be ok. You have kept calm and reassured for so long, but that anger stored up inside was about to crack. Your eyes slowly turned from understanding to frustration, everyone was running in circles, not solving anything. You were convinced that they were making it worse. Fingers working at the keyboard, sending message after message of reassurance saying, “It'll be ok”. At the beginning of the fight, you worried sick, now all you feel is pressure. Though you knew that if all that frustration spilled out during this war, you'd be considered an attention seeker. Tonight, you needed to blow off so steam, you had to get out.

Snatching the keys and your jacket, you head out. Thank God your parents were gone for a bit, so they didn't have to question how you felt. You'd rather not explain to them the stupid drama that's been going on with a bunch of people you didn’t know anymore. The only place you could think of going to without really leaving the building is the rooftop. Everything was left behind that had connection to those people you call ‘friends’ long distance wise, including your phone. For once you wanted to be away from the fight.

Rather than taking the elevator, you take the stairs thinking it was a good way to burn off this anger that boiled inside your gut. Marching up the stairs, your feet slammed on each step, halfway up you skipped a few running up. You pushed the door leading outside. Considering how cold it was, you were fuming on the insides. In constant question, you ask “why did all this have to happen?” Everything was too much for you, you even had nothing to do with it, they dragged you with them.

You didn't want to become like them, always crying out for help, seeking attention, and never taking advice given. It was all too much at this point, every situation was spinning in your head, causing you to pace and mumble to yourself more questions. “What is wrong with them...” Venom slowly seeps through your teeth, stinging yourself knowing you'd never say that. “Why... Why can't...” You're finished, and you were damn glad that they would never witness you like this. “WHY CAN’T I HAVE NORMAL FRIENDS?!!!?” You scream from the top of your lungs. The cool air hits your throat from the heavy breathing, burning. In frustration, you kick some random debris around and yell all sorts of profanities. Anger was never a common trait for you, this was the first time it had ever been released. “SOMEONE IS LYING, NO ONE IS OWNING UP, I CAN’T KEEP DOING THIS FOR EVERYONE I CARE ABOUT!!!! THEIR STUPID... DAMN... AGH!!”

“Y/n..?” a baritone voice breaks your rant. By now tears are running down your face when you turn to see where the voice was coming from. There Otto was, at the other side of the building, his face was barely readable. You stood your ground as his arms carried his form over to your angered state. Removing his glasses, he looked saddened. Those damn puppy eyes always make you feel something. “Y/n, who hurt you?” his extra appendages hiss, telling you that Otto is fuming internally too. You sometimes never realize how protective Otto is. His gloved hand cups your tear-stained cheek seeing that spark of anger in your eyes slowly go out. All you could do was pant heavily from all the energy anger has wasted. Your eyes softened and welded up with more tears, you were so tired. Without warning, your body attaches itself to Ottos, hugging him so tightly and hiding your face in his chest. His actuators waved in the sense of sadness you felt. Otto pets your head soothingly, letting you cry about everything you had left.

“Now tell me... What happened?” He asks once more. You slowly look up at him, circles around your eyes, exhaustion filling your face. “Why do people come to me for their problems? I can't do everything...” Your voice was weak. You hated it when people saw you cry, it was embarrassing. His big arms hold your small form, along with his actuators wrapping themselves fully around both of you. He was warm, just like his heart. “You poor thing, you can cry as much as you want with me. I'm not leaving until I know that you feel ok.”

Otto continues to hold you tightly, allowing you to continue ranting about everything that has happened. It felt good to finally tell someone that you are struggling with someone else's problems. “I'm sorry... It was-” he quickly stops you by bringing your lips to his in a gentle kiss. “Never apologize for something you never wanted to be a part of..” Full exhaustion hits your body fast, allowing Otto to carry you back to your room. In the end, he offered to stay with you for as long as you needed. Smiling weakly at him, you ended up falling asleep in his arms.

“Feel better y/n..”
