Summary:

Makeup YouTuber Hyunjin is a little bit too in love with his straight friend Chan. Having him on his channel is good for content though.

Work Text:

He had been waiting for the bell to ring for hours and yet, he was still unprepared when it did.

“I’m coming!” Hyunjin yelled and hastily made his way toward the door, barely dodging the coffee table in the way. He still got caught on a door handle though.

“Shit,” he whispered as he freed himself. When he finally made it to the door, he took a moment to take a deep breath and ran his hands through his hair even though he had fixed it a hundred times in the last hour.

It was a little pathetic really, how much he cared when it didn't really matter.

He pulled the door open.

“Hi!” Chan said, with a big smile that made Hyunjin melt into a puddle every time. Hyunjin returned the smile as he instinctively reached to take Chan’s bag out of his hands. Chan let him have it with a thankful smile and proceeded to undo his shoelaces.

“Hi.” Hyunjin’s eyes followed Chan as he rose to his full height. All Hyunjin could think about as Chan leaned forward to give him a brief hug was how good he looked in just a black sweater and jeans.

Hyunjin led Chan to the living room and offered him a seat and coffee. Hyunjin even considered getting himself a lavender tea for a second to calm down his nerves a little bit but eventually refused to be that dramatic.

Fifteen minutes after chatting about Felix, Chan’s school, and music on Hyunjin’s couch, Hyunjin decided it was time.

“Should we… start getting ready?” He pointed towards the corner he recorded all his videos at. It took up a small part of the living room and was quite humble if he was truly honest. When he first started making videos, he had to cut down on the cost of everything else but the camera to get the best one that he could. He was proud of it considering how far it took him.

“Sure.”

And they got up.

The last time he filmed a video with Chan, his viewer count and comment section went crazy. Even though Hyunjin had done multiple attractive people’s makeup before, the reaction was never as intense as it was with Chan. And to be fair, Hyunjin could understand why. Chan was more charming than anyone he had ever seen and he was entertaining. Perfect for content.

However, it was not only that. His viewers knew Hyunjin a bit too much than he’d prefer. More than half of the comments on that video were about how Hyunjin was eating Chan with his eyes and how their chemistry was amazing. It would probably be less embarrassing if Hyunjin knew Chan wasn't going to see all those and if he didn't have a girlfriend at the time. Or if he wasn't as straight as a stick.

When he posted that video and one of the first comments he got were “i’ve never seen hyunjin this happy”, he reevaluated his whole life.

When he saw another comment saying “r u sure this guy is straight 💀” obviously referring to Chan, he watched the video 3 more times with his heart beating a little too fast. All he saw was himself being more than usually loud when he was laughing and leaning a bit too much into the man next to him. He felt guilty. He was being too obvious.

Commenter Hannie confirmed that by saying “chan baby... he’s so in love with you”. Hyunjin almost deleted that comment. Almost. He only decided to keep it because deleting it would be too weird. He would basically confirm it and it would be all over Twitter. Hyunjin would never be able to look at Chan then. He would also delete his channel out of embarrassment probably.

All that, and here he was, getting ready to film another video with Chan months later. He still wanted to invite Chan over to be on his channel for two reasons. The first and simple one was that his video with Chan helped his channel blow the absolute hell up. He went from around 40k to a quarter of a million in a month and he was on the rise ever since. He felt very grateful for that. It would be very dumb not to have him on his channel again. But he kind of wished inviting Chan again was only a wise business decision.

See, Hyunjin wasn't exactly friends with Chan. Chan was more of a friend of a friend to him. Felix had introduced them and they would occasionally hang out as a group. The thing was, Felix was back in his hometown for weeks now and Hyunjin definitely didn't have the courage to invite Chan to hang out. Every time he wanted to do it, he thought the scenario over in his head so many times that he started getting anxious over Chan rejecting grabbing coffee with him even as friends. He knew Chan was a busy man and getting rejected wouldn’t be too far fetched.

Yet, despite everything, Hyunjin wanted to see him. He would never admit it out loud because he really did have a stupid crush on the guy and didn't want anyone to think he was trying to make a move on him knowing full well he is straight. As stupid as it sounded, he wanted to keep Chan as a friend even in the times when Felix was out of the picture. And under the guise of creating content for his channel, Hyunjin was securing the disappointment and shame that would eventually come had Chan refused to come.

But he hadn’t.

On the contrary, Chan was pretty enthusiastic to engage with Hyunjin’s request. And even though it was Hyunjin who asked him, he realized how underprepared he was to get a positive response. That’s why he was fidgeting in his seat as they both settled in front of the camera and was taking more than necessary time to adjust the viewfinder to his linking. He checked if he had everything he needed on the table three times. Chan was sitting next to him politely and watching his movements in a state of curiosity that never seemed to die when it came to Hyunjin’s job. It was flattering.

Hyunjin glanced over his palettes and brushes. He looked to the other table next to Chan. He had already grabbed water for Chan and himself. When he had absolutely nothing to fiddle with anymore, Hyunjin raised his head and looked at Chan.

“Are you ready?” Chan snorted at the question. He seemed pretty chill to be on camera for someone who rarely was. Meanwhile, Hyunjin who did it as a living was internally dying. It horrifyingly felt a little too much like the time he recorded his first video. And the other time he filmed with Chan.

“Yeah,” Chan said, smiling at him.

The next moment, Hyunjin had pressed the record button on the camera and was doing his intro.

“Today, I’m going to be giving this guy right here a Halloween makeover.” Chan turned towards Hyunjin.

“Oh, really?” He sounded genuinely surprised. Hyunjin could only hope it was in a positive way. But judging by the way his eyes were shining in wonder, he thought it couldn't be bad.

“Y-Yeah?” Hyunjin said, unsure. “I didn’t tell you?”

“No.” Well. Oops.

“You don’t want it?” Hyunjin was already going through ten different concepts that he could try instead even though Halloween season was nearing and he had everything sorted out. Except for Chan’s consent apparently.

“No, I do!” Chan exclaimed. He brought two hands up and shook his head to emphasize. “I do, I just got excited.”

Hyunjin let out a breath and placed a hand on his heart. “You scared me! I thought you were gonna say you didn’t wanna do it.” Chan barked out a laugh at Hyunjin’s expression. Hyunjin was definitely going to zoom in on that laugh while editing.

“Why would I? I wanna be in your video.” And fuck him, he sounded genuine. Hyunjin turned back to the camera so he could avoid blushing to some extent.

“Of course you do,” he said, teasingly.

“Everyone does too.” Hyunjin side-eyed Chan for a few seconds as what he meant sank in.

“Did you look at the comments?”

“Yeah.” Of course, he did. Who wouldn’t? People don’t get to be in a viral Youtube video every day. He obviously wanted to check the comments out. The only problem was that Hyunjin was being exposed in most of them with no mercy. Hyunjin wanted to dig a hole and crawl inside it. But Chan looked and sounded pretty happy with himself. Maybe he thought all of it was funny.

“Well. He’s here because you guys kept asking, so.” Hyunjin knew he was failing miserably at sounding disinterested or at least neutral, but he didn’t know what else to do with himself.

“I will do your hair later, so let’s put these in,” Hyunjin said, taking a few hair clips in his hand and started clipping Chan’s hair away from his face. He looked funny like this and he couldn’t help but snort when Chan looked him in the eyes this close to his face.

“What am I turning into?” Chan asked while Hyunjin started applying a primer on his face. He had nice skin.

“That’s a secret.”

“I can see myself in the viewfinder.” Hyunjin stopped dabbing Chan’s face and they looked at each other in silence. Then Hyunjin hastily moved to turn the viewfinder the opposite way and Chan threw his head back as he laughed.

“Shut up,” Hyunjin said, sitting back down. “Now you won’t know.”

“Maybe I can see my reflection in your eyes.” Chan tried moving his head to catch his reflection in Hyunjin’s eyes.

“Stop!” Hyunjin closed his eyes and turned away from him all giggly. “No cheating.”

Chan’s eyes suddenly started scouring all the makeup Hyunjin had laid out in front of them. “Wait, you’re not gonna turn me into Shrek or something, are you?” He gasped and grabbed a green pigment powder. He held it up so the camera would pick up what it was. “Oh my god, you are!”

“No!” Hyunjin protested and snatched the small bottle away from him. “I won’t use it,” Hyunjin whined. “You will be very handsome, promise.”

“I’m not already?” Chan teased and that earned him an eye roll from Hyunjin.

Oh, god. This was flirting, wasn’t it? Hyunjin felt like it was. But it also couldn’t be. He felt like he was in high school whenever he was with Chan. A stupid crush on his straight friend could be forgiven in a high school context, but right now, it was disturbingly pitiful. Only if Chan didn’t entertain him for the cameras, maybe this whole thing would’ve been easier on Hyunjin’s heart. Well, at least he didn’t have a girlfriend anymore. Hyunjin at least didn’t have to also feel bad for crushing on a taken guy.

“I’m using a different foundation for him today,” Hyunjin announced to the camera. “I also got a foundation mixer. Where is it?” He looked down and spotted it. He displayed both bottles for the camera, one almost exactly Chan’s shade and the other stark white. Chan nodded in the background.

Hyunjin squirted both products on the back of his hand and started mixing them until it was a shade lighter than Chan’s skin. He applied it all over Chan’s face, ears and neck, giving him a cool paleness. When he was done he leaned back and observed Chan for a bit. With his dark hair pushed back and light skin, he looked vampiresque, which was what he was exactly going for.

He was going to look stunning as a vampire.

Hyunjin pressed his lips together.

Applying the concealer and setting powder on Chan’s face, Hyunjin noticed that Chan was looking at him. Not even at him, specifically at his eyes. Quite intently at that and it made Hyunjin’s hands shake. Not knowing what to do, he sped through the process of contouring. He contoured Chan’s jawline, cheeks, and forehead.

“Raise your head,” he said, bringing Chan’s chin up with his pinky. It made Chan smile for some reason, but Hyunjin was going to ignore that too. If he didn’t, he’d never be able to finish this makeup. Chan stayed put the way Hyunjin positioned him and brought his brush to Chan’s nose, adding a darker shade to the sides of it.

Hyunjin leaned back and looked over Chan’s cheekbones which looked unnaturally high and his sharper than ever jawline. The illusory hollows on his cheeks created with the dark powder contrasting strongly with his pale complexion was a sight to see.

Chan’s chuckle broke him out of his focus.

“What?” Hyunjin eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“Nothing,” Chan answered, doing a bad job of trying to conceal his laughter.

“What?” Hyunjin repeated, louder this time. He instinctively reached out to push Chan away for being annoying, but his hand just settled on his shoulder lightly before sliding down and away.

“It’s just-” Chan’s hand moved to touch his nose, but Hyunjin swatted at his hand.

“Don’t touch it.”

“It’s just your face,” Chan said, smiling at Hyunjin with a glint in his eyes. But Hyunjin was confused, because what about his face?

He turned towards the camera to look at himself through the viewfinder out of habit, forgetting how it was turned the other way. He was thinking about getting up to grab a mirror before Chan decided to continue.

“The face you make when you’re assessing your work.” Chan sniffled. Hyunjin only kept on staring in confusion. “You do your thing for a bit and stare at it, like this.” Chan cocked his head to the side and squinted his eyes, seemingly imitating Hyunjin.

“Oh.” Hyunjin understood what he meant but couldn’t comprehend why the very basic habit he had while focusing would be so amusing to Chan. Didn’t everyone do the same thing? But it didn’t really matter. If Chan found it funny, then Hyunjin was going to take it.

He grabbed a brow pencil.

“You did your eyebrows?”

There was hesitation. “Yeah.”

Hyunjin moved closer to inspect. Chan had mentioned off camera on the day they first filmed together that he drew his eyebrows daily. It was the only makeup he religiously put on, he had said. It made him feel better about his face and it didn’t even really look like had done them. Hyunjin had disagreed but thought it was very cute of him. He had immediately pictured Chan in front of the mirror, prettying himself up, and died a little at the idea.

Even though he looked very good, and he was clearly skilled enough to do something as simple as painting his brows, Chan was a bit insecure about bringing it up.

That’s why Hyunjin immediately said “They look good,” after hearing the doubt in Chan’s voice. It wasn’t a lie, and Hyunjin not wiping them clean before starting to work on his face was proof enough. He hoped Chan would realize that. “I’m just going to go over them with a darker color.”

Chan nodded once, with a gentle smile and Hyunjin knew what it meant: Chan understood, and he appreciated Hyunjin.

Hyunjin dipped his head slightly to hide his smile before starting to work on Chan’s brows.

When he was done, Chan’s beautifully shaped and light colored eyebrows that added to his kind features were now looking much sharper, darker, and mean . Well, that’s what Hyunjin was going for.

“Do you trust me with a lash curler still?” Hyun paused with his hand in front of Chan’s face. Chan blinked at him.

“Why wouldn’t I?”

“I don’t know,” Hyunjin fiddled with the curler. “Most people feel more comfortable if they do it themselves.”

“You’ve curled my lashes before though,” Chan cocked his head with a smile.

“Yeah,” Hyunjin sighed. “I just… don’t wanna hurt you.” Chan chuckled and reached over to pat Hyunjin on the head.

“It’s fine,” he said, and maybe it was fine before when Hyunjin didn’t have shaky hands and a red face. Now, though… His heart probably stopped for a second when Chan touched his hair. He was staring at Chan with wide eyes, probably looking like an idiot, and… It was going to be torture editing this video.

“Okay, then.” His voice came off too quiet and not confident at all for someone who was about to work a tool on someone’s eyes. He cleared his throat. “Look at me,” he said but Chan was already looking at him.

He curled Chan’s lashes with no accidents and sighed out of relief when he was done. Weirdly enough, he was never nervous about this when it came to other people. It was only Chan. Hyunjin had to lie down in bed and contemplate the reason why after the first time he did Chan’s makeup. He had been nervous then too, and Chan asked him if he had never done it to other people. It was embarrassing and Hyunjin should’ve felt offended because of that question. In the end, this was his job . But he didn’t, because Chan was right. Why would he be hesitant about it if he had done it countless times in the past? He didn’t have an answer to give Chan, nor to himself.

After some reflection that kept him awake for a lot longer than necessary, he concluded that he was hesitant about everything when it came to Chan.

He recalled the many moments that he was in Chan’s presence and in all of those memories Hyunjin had shaky hands and thought everything over his head at least twice before saying them. He tucked his hair behind his ears twice a minute to make sure it was under control. And in most of them, they weren’t even alone. Felix was there to make it better but still, Hyunjin had this weird excitement that made his neck feel a bit too hot.

It didn’t take him too long to name whatever it was he was feeling. It did help him relax just a little because he had finally identified the problem and that meant the problem was half solved.

If only it was easy like that.

The realization made Hyunjin feel even worse at times because it felt so wrong to have a crush on a straight guy with a girlfriend. He had to remind himself that multiple times and both that fact and his nervous nature around Chan contributed to them not being as close as they could’ve been if it was somebody else.

Felix was basically seeing Chan and Hyunjin every single day and they shared so many common things. Their favorite restaurant was the same. Hyunjin was as in love with music as Chan was. They were both art people. They both liked the same shows and the same games. They both thought Felix looked like a turtle with that green hat. Their energies just matched even with Hyunjin’s stressed ass self.

Deciding that he wanted to keep Chan in his life no matter what kind of stupid emotions he was harboring towards the said man wasn’t easy. But Chan was too good to let go. Even as a friend.

“So Chan is going to tell us important news about himself,” Hyunjin said to the camera and his future audience as he grabbed the eyeshadow palette. Chan watched him as he showed the palette to the camera and introduced it before speaking up.

“I’ve been doing good,” he said. “Doing my thing. Nothing new.” Chan shrugged and Hyunjin paused to give him a pointed look.

“Are you sure about that?” He chuckled, knowing full well that Chan knew exactly what Hyunjin was trying to get out of him. The smirk Chan threw at the camera confirmed it. “Tell them!” Hyunjin pushed his shoulder, making Chan sway to the side.

“Well, if you insist…” Chan nodded, putting on a serious face that looked very much fake and Hyunjin tapped his brush on a red color. “The only thing that changed from the previous video is that…” Chan closed his eyes when Hyunjin motioned for him to turn towards him. He began painting Chan’s left eyelid a darker shade of red. Hyunjin hummed, encouraging Chan to continue. “I’m now sexy, free, and single.”

Hyunjin’s brush paused. “What?”

Chan opened his eyes. “Yeah.” He flashed a dimpled smile towards the camera and Hyunjin might’ve even seen him wink there. He had more important issues at hand though.

“That’s not what I meant.” Hyunjin yet again felt at a loss. He was definitely not trying to bring up Chan’s breakup on camera, that sounded like an ass move and it wasn’t even Chan who told him-

“Did you know that I’m single now?” Chan was looking straight into his eyes now, and Hyunjin was frozen.

“Uh, yeah- yes, I did,” Hyunjin frantically stuttered, in a daze.

“Cool,” Chan nodded, pressing his lips into a line. Hyunjin watched.

What was happening?

Hyunjin didn’t know what the hell to do and ended up throwing a confused look at the camera, quite comedically.

“Yeah, so,” Hyunjin tried dissipating whatever kind of vibe they were creating right now. “You can hit him up on Insta, but I guess you guys are already doing that.” Chan laughed and Hyunjin reached over to continue coloring his eyelids.

Hyunjin had a feeling this video was going to come out much more awkward than he had anticipated. Sure, their first video didn’t have the most relaxed atmosphere, they were a bit stiff, but they managed to chat through it a lot and also laugh a lot. It was surely a fun video to watch.

This one, however… Hyunjin could feel his tense energy flowing and seeping into the camera lens. He couldn’t judge how it was going to end up looking and now he was getting anxious over that too. What if the video ended up sucking ass?

“I was talking about your music.”

“Oh,” Chan said, actually trying to make it sound like he just understood what Hyunjin had meant. He didn’t buy it. “I got signed to a- Should I not mention the name?”

“Your call,” Hyunjin answered. “Just say a big company.”

“Alright,” Chan took a breath. “I got signed to a big company. As a producer. It’s kind of a big thing.”

“It’s a very big thing,” Hyunjin emphasized to the camera and Chan’s ears got redder as he shook his head in denial. “He is famous now.”

Chan scoffed. “You are the famous one! You have like a million subscribers.”

Hyunjin adjusted Chan’s face with a pinky on his chin and observed the eyeshadow. Satisfied, he started getting black eyeshadow on his brush. “I don’t have a million subscribers.”

“Yet,” Chan said. “You will reach a million after this video.”

“Yes, that’s why I brought you here.” Hyunjin kept going over the red pigment on Chan’s eyelids with black, giving him dark, smokey eyes with some red around them. “This is all business.” Chan laughed at Hyunjin’s serious tone, his eyes closed still and it gave Hyunjin a chance to smile at him secretly.

“This is the eyeliner I’m using,” Hyunjin held out the eyeliner with his hand behind it, making the camera focus on the object. Chan mimicked him with nothing in his hands.

“I’m warning all of you,” Hyunjin said in a teasing manner as he started filling in Chan’s waterlines. “Follow this man everywhere now, this is your last chance to say ‘I was here before he blew up’.”

Chan was forced to advertise his socials while Hyunjin touched his eyelashes with a little mascara.

“Look at me,” Hyunjin said, forcing Chan to turn towards him with a hand on his chin again. Chan barked out a laugh because of the rough act this time, even getting spit on Hyunjin’s face in the process but he wasn’t going to complain. “Hm,” Hyunjin approved of his own work.

Hyunjin grabbed two new items from the table and showed them to the camera like he always did, but didn’t say anything. This was the part Chan was probably going to figure it out and he didn’t want to make it too easy.

“Go like this.” Hyunjin opened his lips slightly and pointed at them. Chan’s gaze fell to his lips and paused for a second before mimicking him.

Hyunjin applied the red liquid lipstick on the insides of Chan’s lips and then proceeded to blend it out with his middle finger. He, unfortunately, couldn’t help but note how soft Chan’s lips were. He bit down on his lower lip to stop a sigh from escaping. He put down the lipstick and opened the red tint. He had already raised the applier to the corner of Chan’s lip when he noticed that Chan had been staring at him. He couldn’t help the chuckle that bubbled out of him.

“What?” He probably sounded like a giggly high schooler, fuck.

“I know what I am,” Chan whispered. Hyunjin tried suppressing his laugh as he generously added more red tint, making it drip down his chin a little.

“What are you?” Closing the cap of the tint, Hyunjin eyed him. “Say it.”

“Vampire.” The way Chan said it was so serious and in role that Hyunjin couldn’t help but practically collapse onto Chan, laughing like a maniac.

“Before you can call yourself that, though.” Hyunjin stood up from his seat, leaving the frame for a bit before emerging with a flat iron. “You should have fancy hair.” He turned Chan over on his seat, making him sit sideways to the camera. Chan watched him as he plugged it in and sprayed heat protectant on his hair.

Hyunjin absolutely loved doing makeup, but in all honesty, he loved doing hair as much as that. He was strongly reminded of that fact when he stepped in between Chan’s open legs and buried his hands into his hair.

Well. He was doing his job. He was actually brushing Chan’s hair with his hands, assessing it, but hell didn’t he have other ideas when Chan looked up at him right at that second… His life wasn’t easy at all.

Hyunjin grabbed the iron and started shaping Chan’s soft, dark curls.

“What if you hit a million before you even publish this video?” Hyunjin scoffed at the question.

“Why?” Hyunjin picked out small strands to leave on Chan’s forehead. “Worried you won’t be able to take credit for it?”

“Kind of?” Chan admitted. “I mean, I want to be a part of that big milestone.” Hyunjin’s shoulders dropped. Why did this man have to be so sweet for no reason?

“You will be,” Hyunjin gently said and started brushing Chan’s hair back and spraying it to set it in place. “You already are, don’t worry.”

“Speaking of which,” Chan closed his eyes even though Hyunjin had his hand protecting his face. “What’s the name of this video?”

“Ah,” Hyunjin paused for a moment. “I was thinking ‘Doing my straight friend’s Halloween makeup’ or something.”

As soon as he finished his sentence, Chan froze completely in front of him, his mouth falling open and eyes wide. The reaction startled Hyunjin enough to halt his movements as well and they ended up staring at each other. This time it wasn’t only Hyunjin who looked confused as hell.

“W-What?” Hyunjin was about to panic any second now. “Is it bad?” Even if it was a shit title, it couldn’t be bad enough to deserve the expression Chan was giving him right now. Hyunjin felt uneasy, his eyes traveling around Chan’s face almost frantically.

“No, just…” Chan scratched the back of his head, messing with his hair and if Hyunjin wasn’t in a trance right now, he would slap that hand away. “Uh, I’m not straight?” It sounded like a question. Like he wasn’t sure of it. Was it a question?

“... What?”

“I’m bi,” Chan’s voice still sounded unsure but Hyunjin started realizing that no, it wasn’t him being uncertain nor was it a question. He was baffled . Chan was looking at Hyunjin with his head cocked to the side, brows furrowed. Like he couldn’t believe it. “I mean, I- Who said I was straight?”

Hyunjin opened his mouth but couldn’t get anything out. He was looking back at Chan with a similar amount of shock on his face.

Chan wasn’t straight?

“I’m not trying to be mean!” Chan rushed to say, probably mistaking Hyunjin's appalled silence as him being offended. “I just,” he let out a breath of laughter. “I think there’s a misunderstanding.”

“How… how are you not straight?”

“Are you shaming me right now?”

“No! I…” Hyunjin shifted his weight on his feet, still in disbelief. He started thinking. Started thinking of all of the times Felix talked about Chan, and then the first time he met Chan. All of their memories together, he went through them.

He couldn’t find a moment of anyone telling him that Chan was straight.

Hyunjin blinked.

“I can’t remember who said that you were,” he said because it was too embarrassing to admit that no one actually did. Did he really assume Chan was straight because he had a girlfriend?

“Well,” Chan shrugged. “I am not straight,” he emphasized, looking into Hyunjin’s eyes. “So you might wanna think of a different title.”

“Fuck, I’m so sorry.” Hyunjin buried his face in his hands, feeling like an idiot. He had been making his own life harder than it could’ve been if he just asked the man. But asking wasn’t even in question, because he never even wondered what Chan’s sexuality was. He just thought he was straight from the beginning and that was somehow worse.

“It’s okay,” Chan laughed and surprisingly reached over to pull Hyunjin’s hands away from his face, ending up pulling him closer to stand in between his legs again. He turned towards the camera as Hyunjin looked down at him apologetically and quite in an existential crisis. “Now you know. I’m bi, guys!”

“Ugh,” Hyunjin groaned and flopped down on his chair.

There was a bit of silence.

“What the hell. Should I name the video ‘Coming Out’ or something?”

Chan threw his head back in a laugh and Hyunjin was surprisingly able to follow along.

The next minutes were filled with Hyunjin asking Chan if it was okay to keep this section in the video and Chan telling him that it was never a secret, Hyunjin complaining about losing all his focus, and Chan laughing at him.

“Let’s wrap this up quickly or I’m gonna throw up,” Hyunjin sighed. “We’re gonna put these on off camera and come back.” He handed Chan the small plastic box and lenses that he was holding.

Hyunjin gulped down his glass of water as Chan put the gray lenses on. He also had to secretly fan himself a little because he was positively sweating and turning red after all the frustration he had been put through.

He assisted Chan with putting the vampire fangs on and well.

There it was.

Bang Chan with pale skin, intimidatingly cold gray eyes surrounded by pretty reds and blacks, his silky dark hair pushed back and blood dripping down his mouth. He looked stunning. Hyunjin would offer him his neck any day.

They filmed the final reveal and outro. Then Hyunjin moved him over to the wall to get some shots with a prettier background.

“Alright, I think we are good,” Hyunjin turned the camera off and that was it. He let out the breath he was holding, feeling mentally exhausted. He wanted to crawl into his bed and hide in there for a few days. Or weeks. Preferably until Felix came back.

“It really turned out beautiful. You did amazing,” Chan smiled at him as they settled back on the chairs so Hyunjin could clean his face off.

“Yeah, you look ho- handsome.” Hyunjin grabbed makeup remover wipes, actively avoiding eye contact with Chan. He could feel that Chan was giving him a knowing look though.

“I can’t believe you thought I was straight when literally all my friends are gay,” Chan shook his head, sounding way too amused. “Yours too.”

“I know,” Hyunjin all but whined. “Just… no one told me.” His voice was barely above a whisper and yes, he was pouting. He started wiping Chan’s face softly.

“That’s so funny because I thought Felix would tell you about our first kiss being with each other.”

“What?!” Hyunjin looked at Chan wide eyed, feeling betrayed by both of them now. How could they keep this information from him? Maybe it was going to be better for Felix to stay where he was for a little bit longer before coming back.

“Yeah, it’s a funny story,” Chan looked up towards the ceiling, reminiscing about the memory with a nostalgic glint in his eyes. “I could tell you about it over dinner maybe? I’m getting hungry.”

Hyunjin sucked in a breath. He wasn’t expecting to get an offer for dinner, not before they started filming and definitely not after he embarrassed himself. But turns out, Chan was full of surprises today.

Chan raised his eyebrows at him and Hyunjin involuntarily gave him a quick once over, from his now almost entirely gone makeup, to the ripped jeans he was wearing. He looked back up and his eyes stopped at Chan’s mouth.

Hyunjin smirked.

“You still have your fangs,” he said, tucking his hair behind his ear and bending his neck to the side, promptly exposing his neck not so subtly. Chan held in a burst of laughter and his eyes shined brighter than Hyunjin had ever seen them.

“Now you’re okay to make gay jokes with me? Really?”

“What if I am?” Hyunjin smiled, biting the insides of his cheeks. He suddenly felt like the exhaustion had left him hours ago and he was more than ready and willing to go grab dinner with Chan at the world’s end or wherever Chan would take him.

And that’s what they did.
