Work Text:
“Why don’t we make it real then, yeah?”
You almost couldn’t believe Micah was a real, tangible human being. Sure, you two had video called several times during the past few days but seeing him right in front of you was different than conversing with him through a camera.
Additionally, you’d seen your fair share of ways people can edit a live video and knowing that Micah was actually real, looking exactly as he did through your monitor, nearly brought you to tears.
“Aren’t you going to let me in, angel?”
You stumble out of your daze, realizing you’ve essentially been staring blankly at Micah for the past 30 seconds.
You rush to open your window enough so he can enter, nearly tripping over yourself in your haste. You just can’t believe it. Micah Yujin. Here. At your fingertips and in the flesh.
You watch him first place down the stuffed dino he brought before lifting himself up. Micah notices your silence and his voice cuts through the air as he climbs through your window.
“What? Cat got your tongue, angel? Tell me what’s on your mind.”
You’re utterly and completely mesmerized by him. His melodic voice seems to invade your brain and you can finally admit to yourself that you truly have fallen in love with Micah within a matter of 5 days.
“Your voice sounds…different than it did when we video called.” You find yourself looking down and fiddling with your fingers, a blush growing on your cheeks.
You look up just in time to see Micah’s smile waver ever so slightly. “Is…Is my voice not to your liking, angel?”
You shoot up, your hands reaching for his and aching to comfort him. “No! No no, of course it is! I just meant that your voice is…so much more…charming in person.” You rub your thumbs over Micah’s knuckles while you try and attempt to get your feelings across. “I just can’t believe you’re here, you know?”
A smug smile starts to show on Micah’s face, though he tries his best not to let it get too obvious that he’s enjoying your flustered self considering your face is already growing so red.
“Thank you, my love. I’m glad it’s not just me who fell even more head of heels seeing you like this for the first time.” He gazes deep into your eyes, maintaining eye contact as he lifts your right hand up with his own to give it a light kiss. “And to be fair, you’re so much more beautiful than through our calls. Your camera really didn’t do you enough justice and neither did your mic.”
Your eyes widen and you quickly pull your hands away, stuttering beyond words. You’re unsure of what to say in this situation. Though you were talking big and constantly teasing Micah through the app, your flirting skills were minimal in person. You decide that expressing your feelings in simple terms was better than remaining gawking at the boy in front of you despite the ever-growing heat in your cheeks.
“I really do feel strongly for you. I-It isn’t just love, Micah, and I want you to know that I’m really grateful that you flew all this way to see me, especially on such short notice.”
Micah’s eyes seem to glimmer in the light and he pounces to wrap his arms around you, enveloping you in a comforting hug.
“I think I burnt the beef.”
You whip around to find Micah desperately trying to salvage the remains of the beef patties you’d tasked him to watch over.
“You what?? Micah, how did you possibly not notice it burning? It’s not even cooking on super high heat!”
You help him scoop the burnt lumps of beef into the trash, rushing to the fridge when done to quickly prepare another batch of ground beef before the buns need to be taken out of the oven.
“It’s not my fault, angel. I just love the expression on your face when you’re concentrating so hard. Watching you chop those tomatoes honestly enthralled me.” Though Micah’s tone seems to imply he’s joking, the comment still makes you blush.
You fail to comprehend how Micah could possibly get distracted by the way you sliced the tomatoes, especially since they your concentration didn’t stop the tomato slices from being cut unevenly. But he doesn’t need to know that. You choose not to answer him and, instead, scroll on your phone to relook at what seasonings were needed for the beef.
It was always a pain when choosing to make everything from home but Micah’s smile looked so bright when you asked him if he wanted to cook with you that you couldn’t resist making him his favorite food from scratch.
Being able to enjoy a homemade meal with someone you felt so strongly towards made you giddy. Seeing Micah absolutely chow down on his burger, you truly believed nothing could top this day.
The food coma that hit both you and Micah had hit hard. Before long, Micah finds himself waking up in your bed, and in your arms. He can’t help himself from sneaking a quick kiss on your head and gently hugs you tighter to his body. He takes a minute to admire you, a hand resting on your cheek, before a grand idea hits him and he gets up from your bed.
You vaguely hear Micah slowly rising away from your grasp, gently untangling himself from you.
You blink awake and stare up at the ceiling, the sleep still leaving your system and you let out a small yawn, satiated from the nap.
Distantly, you hear Micah typing on your keyboard and suddenly, quiet music starts playing from your speakers.
You groggily sit up, the noise alerting Micah that you’ve woken up and he turns to you.
“I’m playing Out Like a Light by Ricky Montgomery,” Micah softly says, getting up from your chair, “I’ve been told it’s great music to slow dance to.”
Your smile grows as you watch him twirl slowly around your room to match the beat. Your find your fondness grows for him by the minute.
Micah notices your staring and stops to smile at you.
“I was going to wake you up with a kiss like in the movies but we can always make it happen another day.”
A blush becomes prominent on your face and your voice seems to escape you as you watch his movements. Micah starts humming to the song as he continues dancing and you find yourself humming along too.
“Come dance with me, angel,” he says, stopping before you yet again. Micah’s eyes gleam down, resembling two beautiful pools of gold. He extends an arm out towards you, his soft expression unwavering. Your blush intensifies, and you find yourself looking down as you stand from your bed. You reach your own hand towards his, your fingers intertwining.
You briefly register Micah’s hand gripping yours tighter before he tugs you closer to him, lifting your head and then resting both of his arms around you, firmly yet gently holding onto your waist.
“Is this okay?” he whispers. You feel his forehead lay upon yours.
And in that moment, you pray to every entity that this moment with Micah will never cease.
“Hey, Micah?”
“Hmm?”
“We’re dating now, right?”
His laugh sounds like honey flowing in and out of your ears.
“I’d like to think we’re already married.”
And he grants you a sweet smile before leaning down to give you a kiss.
