"Anakin, he's done something terrible." Obi-wan blurted out. You turned around harshly at the sound of his voice. He had rushed up into your home to tell you the news.
You walked up to him and hugged him.
It had been quite some time since you last saw him. You were avoiding the war and missions as you tried to find an excuse for your pregnancy. It was forbidden to have attachments let alone carry children while being a Jedi.
"What are you talking about?" You were hoping he hadn't meant what you thought he meant.
"He killed younglings in the temple." Obi-wan winced at his words. Your face faltered, and tears welled up in your eyes.
Had it not been for Obi-wan who rushed to your side you would've collapsed. He held your arm, keeping you steady.
"I thought, I thought I changed things. This can't be true." Your voice cracked. Obi-wan was now confused at what you had meant.
"What are you talking about?" He asked. "Anakin, I had visions in my nightmares of him turning to the dark side. I did everything differently, I made sure this wouldn't happen." You were beginning to panic and this wasn't good for the baby.
Obi-wan could sense it, he might've not seen you for a few months but it wasn't hard to not notice it. Through the force he felt it, you were pregnant. He was no idiot, he knew Anakin was the child's father.
The only reason Obi-wan pretended to be blind was to protect both of you. He knew how deeply you cared for Anakin. Obi-wan loved you both as if you were his siblings.
"You need to sit, this isn't good for the baby." He led you to a chair. Not fighting back you sat down and complied.
It didn't take long for you to realize what he had said. With so much going on in your head you were confused.
Before you could even speak Obi-wan beat you to it. "I know," He said. "I've known for some time, I just decided not to say anything for Anakin and your sake." Obi-wan placed a gentle hand on your arm.
"I'm so sorry it had to be like this." You looked down at your stomach which was finally starting to show.
"I am too but we must hurry, is there anything you can tell me about Anakin?" Obi-wan bent down to your level. You brought your hands up to your face. Pressing your palms against your eyes as you struggled to think.
Anakin wouldn't kill innocent younglings. That wasn't who he was, he wasn't a monster. You sat here with a child growing yourself, he wouldn't do that. As badly as you wanted to repeat those words to yourself you weren't so sure if you knew him anymore.
"I've been having visions of Anakin turning to the dark side, him killing me on Mustafar. I don't know what it means, I tried to change things." You began rambling. Obi-wan stood there crouched down waiting for you to collect yourself.
"I don't know why he would do that but he's been having nightmares himself. He never told of what and every time I asked he brushed it off." You would've continued had it not been for Obi-wan.
"It's okay, we'll have this sorted but by all means, you are to not go to Mustafar," Obi-wan said sternly. You nodded your head.
"It is not safe for you to go anywhere not just because you're pregnant but because of how it is out there. Jedi are being murdered all across the galaxy. I can't risk that." He feared for all of this even more now.
Anakin was unpredictable and irrational, at the same time you were also at risk. "Oh no, this is my fault." You panicked at that realization. The guilt was overbearing, had you tried harder you could've gotten through to Anakin.
If you did then this wouldn't be happening. Your dream would come true because of a stupid mistake you made.
"You are not responsible for Anakin's actions. None of us are." Obi-wan got up from beside you. Following him, he stopped you.
"I'm begging you to stay. If not for yourself but your unborn child." His eyes flickered down to your stomach. He was right, it wasn't a risk worth taking. You no longer had to worry about yourself but someone else.
Your hand reached over your stomach instinctively. "I'll be sure to be back with any information." Obi-wan left the room. You backed away from the door.
There was nothing left for you to do but wait. You walked back towards the center of the room when Artoo came bursting through the door.
The droid rushed up to your side frantically. "What's wrong, buddy?" You placed your hand on top of its dome.
It beeped and spun in circles trying to express its fear. "Hold on, I can't understand when you're speaking too fast?" Artoo slowed down but still frantically explained the situation.
He was with Anakin this entire time up until now. The moment he left him out of his sight, Artoo came rushing to you. Artoo had been told by Anakin to wait while he slaughtered the younglings but didn't.
He wanted to tell what he overhead Anakin talking about. Anakin was headed to Mustafar to kill Obi-wan and in some sick twisted way, all of this was done to save you.
None of this made sense. How would slaughtering innocents save you? Artoo beeped again. Telling you it wasn't safe but you didn't listen. You reached over grabbing your Jedi robe off of the table.
He beeped again as you slipped your boots on and grabbed your lightsaber. "Are you coming or staying?" You asked Artoo.
The droid wasted no time before shooting out behind you and beeping. "I know it's not safe out here but I have to save them. I can't let Anakin do something he'd regret." You told the droid. Artoo didn't say anything as he followed behind you to a speeder.
You hooked Artoo up to the ship before getting inside and flying off to Mustafar.
Upon arriving on the volcanic planet you panicked. Things were already falling into place like your dream. You unbuckled and hopped out. Obi-wan was already there.
Artoo followed closely behind you but you worried for the droid. "Stay here, you can get burned." You patted its head. Artoo beeped sadly.
"I'll be back," You told it. Rushing towards the white ship you saw the door opening. Across the platform was Anakin.
He called out your name, you rushed to him. Anakin held his arms out and pulled you into his chest. "What are you doing here?" He held your face.
"Artoo and Obi-wan came and told me what you're planning to do. Killing Obi-wan? That you turned to the dark side?" You shook your head.
Anakin dropped his hands from your face and took a step back.
"Anakin, tell me it was a lie." You begged but he took another step back wounding you.
"Don't do this." Your voice cracked. "I'm doing this for you, can't you see?" He smiled.
You chewed at your bottom lip and shook your head. Obi-wan walked down the ramp, he spotted you and frowned. He should've known you wouldn't stay put when it came from Anakin.
"I don't need you to kill anyone for me. There's still time, we can leave this. We can give up being Jedi and raise the baby back on Naboo but we can't do that if you continue." You tried to reason.
None of it was getting through to him. "If I don't do this, you won't even live to see the baby being born," Anakin said. "What are you talking about?" You questioned.
"You'll die in childbirth." He blurted out. For the first time this all made sense. Anakin was trying to find a way to prevent your death.
Obi-wan stood hidden behind you in the distance. Anakin had yet to notice how close Obi-wan got gotten.
"I won't die, we can find really good doctors only if you stop this." You said firmly. "Then what? Live on the run? How about when it's just the baby and me?" He questioned. "I'm not going to die. Enough with this already. Stop this so we can go home." Growing frustrated you yelled at him.
Anakin didn't take it well but Obi-wan stopped him before he could do anything reckless. "Anakin, she's right. Doing this won't save her. You'll be forced to leave her raising the child alone without a father." He pushed you behind him.
Obi-wan wished you stood behind.
"What are you doing here?" He spat. "I'm here to fix this." Obi-wan held a hand out. "Liar," Anakin snapped.
"Anakin, don't." You screamed before he could use the force on Obi-wan.
"We're here to help you. Take my hand and we can end this. Find a better way to save me." You reached out for him, waiting for him to take your hand but he didn't.
"Don't you see? If I do this, we can be powerful. We can rule my new empire together." He smiled. Your heart shattered.
He was too far gone.
"Anakin, don't do this to me." Your voice cracked. He remained unfazed as he watched your crumble. "No, don't you do this to me." His emotions were unstable.
"I love you," You tried again to get through to him.
"So do I," His response wasn't the one you were looking for. You wanted him to say the same three words back, or at least say that he knows. Anakin would always tease but this wasn't your Anakin.
"But, this path that you're going on, I can't support it." You cried. He raised his hand in anger, squeezing his hand tightly. He forced choked you, taking you off guard. Obi-wan screamed at Anakin before sending him down.
You fell to your knees from Anakin's grab. Coughing as you tried to catch your breath. Anakin slowly rises back up from the ground.
He reached his hand out again but before he could force choke again you reached up. Anakin choked from your squeezing his throat.
Unlike him, you released his throat before he could lose any oxygen. "Join me." He tried again. You stood back up on your feet before sending him tumbling back.
He shook his head and groaned, clearly very annoyed now. Reaching into his robe he pulled out his saber.
Your eyes widened as he lit it, the blue light reflected off of his skin. Obi-wan looked over at you and then at him.
"You have to get out of here." Obi-wan grabbed your shoulders. Anakin wasted no time before charging straight toward Obi-wan. With his back still turned to Anakin he wouldn't make it in time to protect himself even by using force.
You pulled your lightsaber out of your belt, igniting it and shoving his swing away. Obi-wan followed after you, blocking off a hit.
At this moment it was Obi-wan and you versus Anakin. "Stop fighting," He snarled before pushing you forward.
Obi-wan kicked him back. He went tumbling before quickly getting up to send him flying.
Obi-wan's back smacked against the ship. You winced at the sound. Anakin used the distraction to attack you.
He tried to use force and pull you towards him but with your hand up you didn't let that happen.
"You promised me you wouldn't hurt me and Anakin, you're hurting me right now." You yelled out. Anakin's hand dropped and did yours. His lightsaber was now at his side.
Obi-wan was still recovering from being thrown. His back ached but he knew he couldn't stay there on the floor forever.
"I don't want to hurt you, I'm doing this to protect you." Anakin stood there still.
But I'm not hurting you. I'm protecting you." He said softly. For that moment you were sure the old Anakin had come back. There seemed to have been hoping after all.
You turned off the lightsaber in your hand, taking a step in his direction.
Anakin took a step forward. You were hopeful, this could finally be over but a voice in his head said otherwise.
The small voice he had been hearing lately whispered something sinister in his ear. It was telling him to drive his lightsaber through your body. This was the only way to save you now.
If he didn't then the Jedi would get to you first, and punish you for your crimes against the Jedi code. For trying to run off with him and that you had turned up with Obi-wan for one reason.
That reason is to weaken his guard and kill him. "Anakin," Obi-wan yelled at him. He ignored Obi-wan's voice.
Without thinking, he ignited the saber and reached out. Extending his arm, Anakin drove the lightsaber through you and into your torso.
Everything moved in slow motion. Your hand released its grip on your lightsaber. Anakin stood there with it still impaled into your skin. He hadn't believed what he had done himself.
It took a second for your body to register the sheering pain shooting through your body. You looked down at the glowing blue light. "Anakin?" Your voice was barely a whisper.
You wanted to scream in pain but there was no way you could muster the energy so Obi-wan screamed for you.
Falling to your knees Anakin pulled the lightsaber out of you before dropping it. You reached up your torso feeling the wound. It had cauterized from the plasma blade.
Even if there was a way you could survive, the baby was killed. He had pierced your right through your abdomen. Despite the excruciating pain shooting through your body, that was what hurt the most.
You fell to the floor, laying down.
It took another moment for Anakin to realize what he had done. In seconds he dropped down to the ground.
"No," He panicked. Obi-wan stumbled in your direction not believing his eyes.
"No, no, no." Anakin pulled you towards his lap. You weakly looked up at him.
"I'm so sorry," He cried out as tears streamed down his face and fell onto you.
You reached up weakly and placed your hand on his face. Reaching your thumb under his eye you attempted to wipe a stray tear. You gave in before you could, growing weaker by the second. Your hand slides down from his face the tear dropped onto you and in an instant, your heart stopped beating.
"What have I done?" Anakin cried out as he pulled you towards his chest. Obi-wan stood over Anakin, watching as he cradled you.
He wanted to worry about what would happen now but he couldn't. All Obi-wan could think about was how you were gone.
If only he had approached you before, spoken to you more, or even told you that you were family. He had so many regrets and things he could've done differently.
Anakin stood there for what felt like hours holding you close to his chest until the voice was back. The same voice that had been speaking to him this entire time.
Since the night he slaughtered the Tusken Raiders and executed Order 66. It was a voice he had grown to be comforted by.
He didn't want to fight it, there was no use in fighting the voice. You were gone and Obi-wan was at fault for it. Had it not been for him telling you, you would've never shown up.
"Anakin, we have to bring her back to Coruscant. Forget all this." Obi-wan tried to diffuse the situation. He could already tell in force that his grief had quickly turned to anger.
"You did this to her." He growled.
"Anakin, I didn't. I swear, I would never hurt her." Obi-wan shook his head. Anakin reached for a handout, calling his lightsaber. In a flash it reached his palm, he ignited it before jumping up and swinging at Obi-wan.
He dodged the hit. Anakin swung again, his movements were sloppy and miscalculated. Obi-wan had never seen him struggle.
Anakin kicked him but not hard enough to throw him off guard. He swung again hitting Anakin's mechanic arm.
He groaned with annoyance before going in again. Obi-wan blocked the hit before swirling the plasma blade to throw him off.
Anakin swung at any chance he was given. He was exhausted by now. Sweat dripped down his face, mixed with tears and ash.
This was nothing like the little boy he had met on Tatooine. Obi-wan sliced through Anakin's arm. He screamed bending over to clutch his nub to his body.
Obi-wan kicked his back, sending him tumbling down the hill. The fire caught onto the fabric of his pants. Anakin trashed as he felt it creep up, burning at his skin.
"You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you." Obi-wan cried as he looked down at him. His face was engulfed by the flames.
"I hadn't meant for things to end this way." He winced as he watched him burn.
"I hate you," Anakin roared.
He couldn't stand to see him suffer any longer. Obi-wan turned away, leaving Anakin alone.
Artoo was now standing by you. Beeping sadly as he swirled around you. Even if he knew the chances of you getting up were none, Artoo still hoped you would.
The droid was particularly close to you, having a soft spot for you. Now that you were gone and so was Anakin, Artoo worried.
Obi-wan walked over, bending down he carefully lifted you from the floor. Slipping his arm around your back and the other under your legs he carried you to the white ship he came on.
Artoo followed behind, not wanting to stay on this dreadful planet any longer. Obi-wan settled in, placing you on a cot.
Things would be different now, he wondered where it would go from here. The chosen one had gone from becoming a sith to dying.
As for you, you were an amazing Jedi and friend. He couldn't return to the Jedi temples. There wasn't much he could do.
Perhaps he could tell Padme the news and arrange a funeral for you. Padme was your friend, she had always told you she was just a call away.
Obi-wan felt guilty just thinking about breaking the news to Padme. He brought a blanket up, covering your body. Artoo didn't move from your side, even as he turned the ship on and flew away from Mustafar.
In the end, you hadn't changed a thing. Your nightmares had become reality. Though you had lived a grueling life with war, there wasn't anything you regretted about it.
Every single choice you had made leading up to the moment you stopped breathing.
