Work Text:
Broadway openings aren’t quite as exciting to New York natives as they are to out of towners. Shows open and close all the time, and every few years there’s a new sensation that swallows Times Square alive with jazzy ads and big posters plastered in every rat-dotted bus stop.
But Mabel’s heart does beat just a little bit faster as she climbs the stairway and she walks into the belly of the Hope, a jewel box theatre located at the very edge of Broadway. It’s a nice theatre, and it’s packed with people she’s never met before in her life but who are quite important to Oliver. So she tries not to be a dick to them. Basically.
She’s there stag this time, though Charles has his girlfriend and Oliver’s family is here. They’re all family now, parts of each other.
Whatever intrigue that befalls them, at least they’ll be able to rely on one another.
