Work Text:

“Dongmin? What’s wrong?” Bin peers over at his boyfriend, who sat at his desk which was covered in stacks of books and piles of paper.

“Mhm? What makes you think something is wrong? I’m just studying for finals, as you should be.”

“I am studying for my finals!” Bin huffs, setting down his pencil that hadn’t actually been used to write anything in well over an hour. “But you’ve been staring at the wall ever since your mom texted about twenty minutes ago, and that is not the focused, studying Dongmin I know.”

“Nothing gets past you, does it?” Dongmin sighs, pushing his chair away from the desk, setting his glasses on top of the piles on his desk and running a hand through his hair.

“Not when I’ve known you for so long.”

Dongmin and Bin met in their first year of middle school, where Bin accidentally ran straight into Dongmin when he was chasing his friend from primary school throughout the halls. The older of the two was ready to scold the other for running in the halls, something that was very clearly against the rules, however he quickly turned quiet when he saw the puppy-like smile the younger offered as he apologized.

It wasn’t until their second year of middle school, where they both found themselves paired for an art project, that the two started getting to know each other. The two quickly became inseparable, practically attached at the hip. They remained best friends throughout the rest of their school years, and when they found out they had both been accepted into the same college, they jumped at the chance to become roommates.

In the beginning of their first year in college, Bin had come back to the dorm very drunk, and almost immediately started sobbing and messily confessing his undying love for his best friend-turned roommate when he opened the door. Bin doesn’t remember the rest of the night, but Dongmin loves to remind him of all the embarrassing things he did before he finally fell asleep for the night. However, he could never forget the next morning, when he awoke and a slightly annoyed Dongmin handed him a cup of water and some medicine for his headache, which he almost choked on when he heard the words ‘I love you too, you fucking idiot’ come out of his roommates mouth. After a few hours of sobering up, and a serious conversation, the two began dating.

The pair are now close to ending their first semester as third years, trying to push through the dreaded last two weeks of classes and finals before the holidays.

“So?” Bin asks. “What is going on in that beautiful mind of yours?”

Dongmin looks over at his boyfriend, and from one look into his eyes, he can tell Bin will not let this go easily. He figured it was better to rip the band aid off then delay the inevitable. “My mom just told me she and my father are going abroad for the holidays. They want to be somewhere warmer. Plus, my brother is still abroad at school, so it’s just going to be me home I guess.” He sighs. “I was debating just staying here for the last twenty minutes. My parent’s house is so big, it feels extra lonely when no one else is there. At least I feel like I’m home here.”

“What? How could they do this to you? They know how much you love this time of year! I refuse to let you spend it alone, I’ll stay with you! We can have our own little Christmas, just the two of us, and we”

“Binnie.” Dongmin promptly cuts him off. “Binnie, I love you, and I appreciate you offering to stay, but no. You hardly get to see your family as it is. I will not allow you to miss this opportunity. I’ll be okay for a few days.”

Dongmin was smiling at him, but Bin knew it was a sad smile. Dongmin’s parents were never a big fan of the holidays, so Dongmin spent a lot of time curled up in his room, watching Christmas movies and yearning for the traditional family gathering in matching pajamas that all those movies depicted.

“Well…” Bin starts quietly after a moment of thought. “What if you came home with me?”

The idea sounded so simple. After all, Dongmin had spent Christmas at the Moon house before, that wasn’t the issue. The real problem lies in the tone Bin used when he suggested it, the fact that Dongmin knows he had a deeper meaning.

“Are you crazy?! You want to use Christmas to tell your parents that we aren’t just best friends anymore?”

While the two had been together for almost three years, neither of them had told their parents the truth about their relationship, mainly due to Dongmin’s wishes.

“I don’t see why not.” Bin shrugs, finally getting up from his desk chair and moving to sit on the couch, patting the seat next to him.

Dongmin begrudgingly moves from his desk chair and plops himself on the couch next to Bin.

“They have to know at some point Min.” Bin whispers, wrapping an arm around Dongmin and pulling him close.

Dongmin simply sighs and lays his head on his shoulder.

“My parents absolutely love you. Seriously, I can’t even get through a single phone call without them asking about you and when they’ll get to see you next.”

“They love me as your best friend.” Dongmin reminds him softly.

“And they’ll love you as my significant other too.”

“You aren’t even out to your parents.”

“What better way to come out than saying ‘hey, I’d like you to meet my boyfriend of almost three years’?”

“Binnie, telling your parents could change everything.”

“You know what won’t change? The fact that I love you.” Bin whispers, moving his head a bit to plant a kiss to the side of Dongmin’s head. “Seriously, I love you more than I know how to handle at times. However, it’s just a thought. If you’re not comfortable telling them this way, then we won’t. You can always come home with me and we’ll play the best friends act, if that is what you’re comfortable with. Just know that there is no way in hell I will be letting you spend the holidays all alone.”

“You know I love you, right?” Dongmin asks shakily after a minute.

“I know.” Bin promises, voice hardly above a whisper.

“Can I have some time to think about it?”

“Of course you can. Take all the time you need. I know this is something that scares you and I never want to force you to do something you aren’t ready to do. Please don’t agree to it because you think it’ll make me happy. Only agree if you’re one hundred percent sure you want to go through with it, okay?”

Dongmin nods a bit against him.

“Good. Are you hungry? How about I make us some dinner while you study a bit more?”

“Dinner sounds amazing.” Dongmin agrees, forcing himself to sit up.

“I’ll come get you when it’s ready.” Bin smiles, leaning over and kissing his cheek before pushing himself off the couch and heading to the kitchen.

~❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃~

The next two weeks felt like they lasted forever for Dongmin. His exams were harder than any of the others he had taken before since he was in upper-level classes now, and on top of that, he had Bin’s proposal weighing on his mind.

Bin didn’t bring up the idea at all after their initial conversation, and Dongmin barely had time to think about anything that wasn’t an exam. Except, now he had just completed his last exam, and the two of them were supposed to be leaving for Bin’s parent’s place tomorrow. He was so lost in thought on his way back home that he forgot he had to unlock the door to open it, causing him to accidentally bang against the door.

Bin, bless his heart, opened the door from the inside seconds later. “Min? Are you okay? Jesus, you overworked yourself again didn’t you? Come on, let’s get you inside.”

Dongmin accepts the help without a word, still rubbing at the part of his head he banged against the door.

“How did your final go Min? I know you were most stressed about this one, do you think you did okay?” Bin asks, helping Dongmin take off his shoes and backpack, leading him to the bedroom so he can wash up and put on comfier clothing.

“It was hard.” Dongmin pouts back. “I really should’ve studied more.”

“More? Min you practically pulled an all nighter. You should’ve slept more. Besides, all you need is to pass the class. Remember you don’t need to receive top marks in every single class.” Bin hums, setting out some pajamas for Dongmin to change into while he washes up in the restroom.

Dongmin comes back out of the restroom and sees the clothes laid out for him. “Binnie you don’t have to do all this. You had finals today too. In fact, you had two finals today. If anything I should be the one taking care of you.”

“The difference here is that one of us knows how to take proper care of their body.” Bin reminds him.

“All you dance majors and your talk about your bodies.” Dongmin mumbles under his breath.

“You don’t have to be a dance major to understand that your body needs sleep.”

“I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” Dongmin jokes back, finishing changing before promptly sprawling across the bed.

“Well don’t die yet! At least wait until after the holidays are over.” Bin laughs, climbing on top of his boyfriend and beginning to give him a small back massage.

Dongmin lets him for a moment before he speaks up again, enjoying the simplicity of the moment. “Binnie, we need to talk about Christmas.”

“Are you ready to talk about Christmas?” Bin asks, gently working on a particular tense knot near Dongmin’s shoulder.

“I am.”

“Alright, we can talk.” Bin hums, finishing loosening the knot before moving off of Dongmin and helping him sit up.

Dongmin takes a minute to collect his thoughts, playing with Bin’s fingers a bit as he thinks. “Were you serious about telling your parents?”

“One hundred percent serious.” Bin nods back.

“What would happen if they didn’t take the news well?”

“The way I see it, Min, is they have two options. The first option is the one I hope they’ll choose, and that would be to love and support me, you, and us. Their second option is to no longer be part of my life.”

“Bin, you love your family. They are so important to you.”

“I didn’t say I wouldn’t be heartbroken if they chose the second option. However I know for a fact that I love you way too much to walk away over someone else disapproving.”

“I don’t doubt your love.” Dongmin grabs Bin’s hand. “But I need you to look me in the eyes and promise me that you won’t leave me just because your parents don’t approve of me if things go poorly.”

Bin almost immediately snaps his head up, locking eyes with Dongmin, and offering the same puppy-like smile that he gave him when the two of them first met. “I promise you, Dongmin. No matter what happens with my parents, I will not be stupid enough to walk away from the best thing that ever happened to me. I swear, I will not leave you.”

Dongmin searches for any clue that Bin was hesitating, or lying in any way, but he doesn’t find one. Bin looks so sincere. “Let’s do it.”

“Are you one hundred percent sure?”

“I am.” Dongmin nods, squeezing Bin’s hand. “I’ve been thinking, and maybe the reason I’m so scared to tell them is because we’ve waited so long, and I know we’ve only waited so long because I was scared of telling them and that kind of cancels each other out but… I’m still terrified, don't get me wrong. However telling them could be one less stressor if it goes well. I’m trying to think about it that way.”

“That’s a good way to think about it.” Bin smiles. “If it does go wrong, we’ll come back and have our own little Christmas together.”

“Are you nervous? About what they’ll say?”

“I am.” Bin admits. “At the same time though, I genuinely feel like they’ll be happy for us. If you’re sure about this, I should call my mom and tell her I’m bringing someone special home for Christmas.”

“It feels like I’m meeting your parents for the first time all over again.” Dongmin laughs a small bit. “Yes. I’m sure. Please call your mother right now so I can’t overthink this and change my mind.” He says, getting up and grabbing Bin’s phone for him.

Bin can’t help but smile so brightly. He was a little overjoyed at the fact that he would finally get to show off the love of his life to the people that mattered to him. “I’m calling.” He tells his boyfriend, clicking the call button on his mother’s contact information.

It only rings twice before his mother picks up.

“Binnie! How are you? How is Dongmin? How did exams go? When are you coming home tomorrow?”

“Momma, please one question at a time.” Bin laughs. “Exams were fine, but I am not a good student so please don’t hold your expectations of me too high.”

“As long as you did your best that’s all we can ask!”

“Dongmin is good, tired from exams. Coming home tomorrow is actually the reason why I’m calling.”

“Oh? Are you still coming home tomorrow? I was planning a big dinner!”

“Yes momma, I’m still coming home tomorrow. It’s just… well, I’m seeing someone.” Bin smiles up at Dongmin, who was sitting nervously, but quietly in front of him.

“You’re dating someone?! Tell me everything I want details!”

“Actually, I was thinking I could bring them home with me? They were planning on spending the holidays alone… but I was just thinking…”

“Of course you can bring a date to Christmas!” Bin’s mom sounded enthralled about the fact her son was finally dating someone. “I can’t wait to meet whoever it is!! Should we prepare one bed or two for you two?”

Bin flushed red with embarrassment. “Uh… just one is fine.”

“When can I expect you two? This is a big occasion, I need to be sure everything is perfect!”

“We will be there in the late afternoon. Don’t overdo it, okay momma?”

“I make no promises! I have so much to prepare! I should go now, but you make sure to tell Dongmin hello for me and remind him that I love him, yes?”

“Of course momma.”

“Good. Okay I love you my sweet boy! I can't wait to see you tomorrow and meet your special someone.”

“I love you too momma. See you tomorrow.” With that, their call ended. “Mom says hello, that she loves you, and while she doesn’t know it yet, she’s very excited to meet you.” Bin laughs a bit.

“We’ll see if that holds up tomorrow.” Dongmin nods. “Let’s think about something else for a bit. I bought some steaks for dinner to celebrate the end of finals. How about I grill those up and we can watch one of the animated Christmas movies?”

“Steak? Certainly beats the ramen I was planning on for dinner.” Bin cheers. “Sounds great. Can I help with anything?”

“Not with dinner, but you can start packing so we leave on time tomorrow.”

“I do not take that long to pack!”

“Yes you do, and the times when you don’t, you forget a million things.”

“... Fine.”

“I’ll come get you when dinner is ready.”

~❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃~

“Breathe.”

The gentle reminder came to him from the driver’s seat. The two of them had just turned onto the road Bin’s parents’ house was on after a two and a half hour long drive, and Dongmin was absolutely terrified.

“You expect me to be calm when I just suffered through two and a half hours of your driving?” Dongmin makes a joke in return, but both of them knew he was just trying to avoid thinking about the real reason he was scared right now.

Bin doesn’t even try and defend his driving like he normally would. “Dongmin.” Bin replies softly, placing the hand that isn’t on the wheel on Dongmin’s thigh and giving it a little squeeze. “I love you. No matter what happens here, nothing will change that.”

“I know.” Dongmin whispers as Bin pulls into the driveway. “You promised me that already, and I believe you.”

“Good.” Bin hums, parking the car and turning it off.

The two sit there for just a minute, and that’s when Dongmin notices it; Bin is shaking.

“Binnie?”

“Suddenly I understand why you were so scared of this.” Bin laughs nervously.

“We can do this.” Dongmin reminds him softly. “Lets just rip off the band aid and see just how deep the wound is, yeah?”

“Yeah.” Bin nods back, forcing himself out of the car.

Dongmin follows suit, and follows Bin to the front door.

Bin fumbles with the keys for a minute before he gets the door unlocked and leads the two of them inside.

Dongmin is unsure how he is still moving, as he feels like he should be frozen in fear, but he follows Bin into the house.

“Mom? Dad? I’m home!” Bin calls out, leading Dongmin towards the living room.

Bin’s mom meets them halfway, after she practically jumps out of her seat at the invitation to greet them. “Binnie!” She smiles, bringing him into a hug. “Oh Dongmin is here! You didn’t tell us you were bringing Dongmin!” She cheers, going to hug Dongmin.

Dongmin can’t bring himself to say anything, hugging Bin’s mom back, but freezing once again when he was out of the embrace and he sees Bin’s dad standing there now too.

“So my sweet boy, where is this special someone you mentioned to me over the phone?” His mom asks excitedly.

Dongmin’s heart sinks. Of course they wouldn’t think about him being the special someone. After all, he was just Bin’s best friend. That’s all they would ever see him as. At that moment, Dongmin wanted to call the whole thing off. He wanted to find a way to discreetly tell Bin they shouldn’t tell his parents anymore, then he wanted to run. Run as far away as he could. He takes the slightest step backwards, and that’s when he feels it, Bin’s hand sliding into his. He could sense the warm gaze and soft smile Bin sent his way, despite the fact that he was now staring at the ground.

“Mom, dad… I’d like you to meet my boyfriend.” Bin offers shyly.

Bin’s hand is trembling in his. Dongmin still can’t bring himself to move his eyes off the floor, but he tightens his hold on Bin’s hand. The silence is deafening. Dongmin isn’t sure if time slowed down, or if they actually stood there in silence for several minutes. Another small step backwards, but Bin stands firm. A small tug from Bin makes Dongmin look up from the floor finally and towards Bin’s parents in front of them. Bin’s mom was crying. His eyes widen and he immediately takes a full step backward, already preparing the apologies he’ll have to give to Bin for being the reason he no longer has a relationship with his family.

“This isn’t a joke, right?”

“No momma. This is very real.”

Bin’s tone was so… soft. Dongmin registered that Bin’s hand was no longer shaking against his. Slowly he noticed Bin’s mom was smiling, and then, he was being hugged. He was being held tight by Bin’s mother.

“Thank God. I’ve been saying for years that I hope Bin ends up with someone as amazing as you Dongmin honey. You are so good for him. I am so happy it's you.” Bin’s mom whispers to him.

Dongmin finally lets go of Bin’s hand to hug her back.

“Binnie you better not mess this one up!” His mom warns, still hugging Dongmin.

Bin can’t help but chuckle a little bit. “Wouldn’t dream of it momma.”

“Dongmin? Why are you crying?” Bin’s mom asks, backing away slightly from the hug and wiping tears off his cheek.

“Huh?” Dongmin asks, reaching up to feel his cheek and realizing it was wet. “I didn’t even realize I was crying.” He laughs a bit. “Sorry, I think I am just so unbelievably relieved you don’t hate me now.”

“We could never hate you Dongmin!” Bin’s mom smiles, and his dad nods in agreement. “Now come on, to the couch, both of you! I want details!!” She cheers, practically dragging Dongmin to the couch.

“So? Who confessed first? How did it happen?” Bin’s mom asks excitedly after they were all settled on the couch.

“Oh… we don’t need to tell that story do we?” Bin mumbles, ears already burning in embarrassment.

“Oh, we most definitely do.” Dongmin laughs back before going into detail about drunk Bin’s confession.

“Wait, hold on. Did you say this happened your first year of college?”

Bin and Dongmin froze.

“Have you two been dating for almost three years?!”

“Surprise?” Bin laughs, scratching the back of his head.

“You didn’t tell me you were dating someone for three years?!” Bin’s mom asks her son, rather offended.

“Please don’t misunderstand!” Dongmin is quick to jump in. “He wanted to tell you! I wouldn’t let him until now, I take full blame for that.”

“Oh. Well in that case I’m proud of you for respecting his wishes and keeping it a secret this long!”

“I have to be honest.” Bin sighs. “I’m glad the cat is finally out of the bag. It was so stressful whenever you guys would come over to our apartment. We’d always have to rearrange everything so it would look like we actively slept in different rooms, used different showers, things like that. It was exhausting. Plus Dongmin over here would overthink every single little detail. Seriously, he made me dig through the dirty laundry and separate our clothing so my dirty laundry could go in the room that we didn’t use.” Bin pouts.

This causes Dongmin to crack up laughing.

“Yah! It’s not funny! I hardly know what clothes are mine and what clothes are yours as it is! What made you think my mom would know?! It wasn’t just at our place either. Whenever we would come here he overthought everything too! I swear I’d so much as glance at him and he’d freak out. Plus not being able to sleep in the same bed! Pure torture I tell you!” Bin whines.

“I wouldn’t say pure torture. It was a bit nice to not be crushed to death while I slept for a few nights.” Dongmin teases with a laugh.

“I’m not that heavy!” Bin huffs back.

“You’re like my own personal weighted blanket that is just a little bit too heavy but I put up with it anyway because the warmth is just right!”

“Are you sure you’ve only been dating for three years?” Bin’s mom cuts in. “You already argue like an old married couple.” She chuckles. “Oh my… you guys aren’t married yet, right?!”

“No!” Both Bin and Dongmin jump quickly to answer.

“No, even if I had said no to telling you all today, I would never agree to get married without you knowing.” Dongmin promises.

“Plus, we’re still in school momma, please one step at a time. I don’t even know what classes I’m taking next semester.”

“I didn’t think you would be! Just had to check.” She nods. “Oh! Before I forget, your sister is no longer able to come home today, she’ll be home tomorrow instead.”

“Does that mean instead of a big fancy dinner tonight, we can do pizza and a movie?” Bin pleads.

“Well… seeing as Dongmin has already seen how we actually live and I’m not trying to make a first impression here… I don’t see why not! I’ll go ahead and place the usual order.” His mom smiles, pulling out her phone to order online. “Why don’t you two go bring the rest of your things inside and get the bedroom set up while I order?”

“I forgot everything was still in the car.” Dongmin laughs. “I was so nervous to come in here that I didn’t even think about it.”

“Honestly, me too.” Bin agrees. “Will do!” He cheers jumping up, before pulling Dongmin up off the couch. “I’ll get the things out of the car if you want to start bringing the things upstairs as I bring them in. If you go outside now you’ll be a popsicle for the rest of the night.”

“... Deal!” Dongmin agrees happily.

Shortly after, Bin meets Dongmin upstairs with the last of the things from the car, which he drops to the floor when Dongmin closes the door right after he walks into the room and pulls him into a kiss.

The kiss is short and sweet, and ends with Dongmin burning his face into Bin’s neck as he hugs him tight.

“Thank you.” Dongmin whispers.

“For what?” Bin asks, holding him close, rubbing small circles on his back.

“For bringing this idea up. For convincing me to go through with it, to tell your parents. I feel so… at peace. Just like you were talking about earlier, how I always overthought everything when we were around your parents before they knew. There were times I dreaded coming here, not because I don’t love you, not because I didn’t want to see your family, but because I was so overly anxious they would find out. I know how much you love your family, and on top of that they’ve become such a huge part of my life since we’ve known each other for so long, so I hated the fact that I dreaded seeing them. That stressor is finally gone. It really does feel like a massive weight lifted off my shoulders.”

“I’m so glad. I knew it was a stressor for you, and I am so glad that stressor is gone now. Thank you for agreeing, for going through with it. For standing with me even though I knew you wanted to run away. I love you so much Dongmin.”

“I love you too.”

“Binnie?” Bin’s mom calls up the stairs. “Will you come with me to pick up the pizza?”

Bin chuckles against Dongmin. “And this is my mothers way of separating us so she can ask me more questions.” He says, removing himself from their embrace. “Sure mom! I’ll be down in a minute!” He calls back.

“I’ll get everything unpacked while you’re gone.” Dongmin smiles, already working on their suitcases.

“I can help later on! You don’t have to do everything yourself.”

“Nonsense, it’ll take ten minutes max.” Dongmin hums, handing Bin a sweatshirt to put on.

“Still! I’m the one that actually lives here, you’re supposed to be a guest!”

“Binnie, I have a key to the front door. The least I can do is unpack our stuff.” Dongmin nods, wrapping a scarf around Bin’s neck after he puts on the sweatshirt, then carefully putting a beanie on his head. “Now, here are your sneakers, go, your mom is waiting.”

“Yes mom number two.” Bin jokes before kissing Dongmin on the forehead and heading out.

~❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃~

“Where are the questions momma? I know you’re dying to ask me more.”

The two were almost to the pizza shop, and his mom still hadn’t asked him a single question.

“Are you okay if I ask you more questions?”

“Yes momma, ask anything you want.”

“Do you like girls too? Or is it just guys? Or is it anybody?”

Bin had prepared himself for this question, after all, he had been dating a guy for three years without ever even coming out to his parents. “Just… just guys.” He replies softly.

“How long have you known?”

“I knew I liked guys around eighth grade. I knew I liked only guys sometime around my second year of high school.”

“I support you, Binnie. I’m not mad or upset at all, I want you to know that. I also want to apologize if your father and I ever did anything or said anything that made you worry that we wouldn’t support you, that made you keep this a secret from us for so long.”

“It’s nothing like that momma.” Bin smiles softly. “While yes, telling you was a bit terrifying, I never truly thought that you wouldn’t support me. Honestly, the reason I didn’t say anything, was because when I realized I was gay, I was worried if I told you all, you all would think my relationship with Dongmin was something that it wasn’t.” He admits. “Now, of course that situation has drastically changed, but at the time, though looking back I was definitely already in love with him, Dongmin was just my best friend and I was so scared of losing that. I was trying to convince myself that he was just my best friend, and I thought if I told you all I was gay, that one of you would eventually ask me if I liked Dongmin in that way, and then I would have to admit it to myself, and at the time, I didn’t want to.”

“When did all that change?”

“Not until we started dating really. I finally accepted to myself that I did like him romantically early in our last year of high school. I tried so hard to get over it, to move on. Practically the day we moved in for our freshman year of college, I started getting on dating apps, forcing myself to get out and meet new people. I met a handful of guys, most of whom were very nice, and I genuinely enjoyed meeting them, but except for one, I turned down all offers of a second date. The second date I went on was the morning of the day I ended up confessing. The whole reason I went out and got drunk that day was because this other guy was so attractive, and funny, and amazing, and our conversations were just so natural, but when he asked me on a third date, I just couldn’t. He wasn’t Dongmin. I was so mad at myself, and I just wanted to forget about it for a few hours, so I got drunk, and well, you know the rest of the story.” Bin laughs a bit.

“It all worked out in the end. That’s what matters, right?”

“Yeah.” Bin smiles.

“Let’s hop out and grab our dinner, I have more questions for the way back.” His mom nods as she parks.

“I knew you would.” Bin laughs, getting out of the car.

A few minutes later, Bin sits with what is probably way too much food for only four people on his lap as his mom starts the car back up.

“Do you need anything else while we’re out? Any snacks, drinks, lube and condoms, anything?”

“MOM!” Bin’s ears burn red in embarrassment.

“What?! Just because no one can get pregnant doesn’t mean you don’t have to use condoms! There are still diseases to be worried about! You’re having safe sex right?!”

“Oh my god… yes momma we’re having safe sex.” Bin groans, covering his face.

“Good! Now do we need to swing by the store and pick some up or did you bring some with you?”

“We… we brought some.” Bin mumbles into his hands, finally caving.

“Then unless there is anything else you need, to home we go.”

“Nothing else, let's go home.”

~❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃~

“So? How’d the conversation with your mom go?”

Bin and Dongmin were moving around the room getting ready for bed after having eaten way too much pizza and watching a movie.

“It was okay.” Bin nods, pulling off his shirt. “She asked about my sexuality, and I debated lying for a moment, but I told her I was gay. She was completely okay with it, and actually ended up apologizing because she thought I never told them because of something she and my dad did, so I explained the whole situation to her.”

“I’m glad she took it well.” Dongmin smiles, working on putting lotion on his face.

“Me too. After that we got the pizza, and then she started asking… more personal questions.” Bin groans just thinking about it. “She asked me if we needed to stop somewhere and grab condoms on our way home, then when I got embarrassed she asked if we were having safe sex.”

Dongmin can’t help but chuckle. “That honestly doesn’t really surprise me. Did you… did you take her up on her offer?”

“What? Of course I didn’t, I will not allow my mother to buy condoms for me.”

“Oh.” Dongmin couldn’t help but be a tad disappointed.

“Oh? Are you disappointed that we didn’t buy condoms? I thought for sure you’d be against having sex in my parents house.” Bin teases, moving toward the closet.

“Well… I’m not… against it per se…” Dongmin mumbles, flushing red.

“What made you so distracted during unpacking that you didn’t check all the pockets?” Bin asks, grabbing the suitcase he packed the lube and condoms in.

“What?”

“I didn’t let her buy any because I already brought some.” Bin laughs, pulling them out of the suitcase and showing them to his boyfriend.

“Bin!” Dongmin says in a scolding tone.

“What?! I like to be prepared!”

“I can’t believe you brought lube and condoms to your parents house!”

“Weren’t you just saying that you were disappointed we didn’t buy any?! No need to be disappointed now! I got a new box of condoms and a new bottle of lube too, we were running low, so we have plenty!”

“You are so embarrassing.” Dongmin groans, closing up his skincare products and moving towards the bed. “Glad to know it’s an option.” He mumbles, burying himself in bed.

“I heard that.” Bin laughs, putting the items back in the closet before turning the lights off and joining Dongmin in bed. “Finally.” He says softly, cuddling into Dongmin’s side like a cat. “I can finally cuddle you properly in this home too.”

“Properly? I’m not being crushed to death.” Dongmin chuckles.

“You’re right. I should fix that!” Bin cheers, quickly situating himself so his body is a solid seventy-five percent directly on top of Dongmin, laying his head on his chest.

“That’s more like it.” Dongmin smiles, happily snuggling into the embrace. “I love you Binnie. So much.”

“I love you too Min.”

The next morning, Dongmin awoke to an empty bed and a heap of extra blankets on top of him. The blankets were a trick Bin used to keep Dongmin from waking up because he was cold if Bin left the bed before he did. Though, it was quite unusual for Bin to be out of bed before him, and usually there was some sort of scheming going on when it happened.

Dongmin rolled over and grabbed his phone to check the time, and he was surprised to see it was almost two in the afternoon. Shortly after his stomach rumbles loudly and he chuckles to himself. He figures he might as well go downstairs and find his boyfriend and get some food.

He goes downstairs and looks around for anyone, but only finds Sua in the kitchen. “Sua! Glad you made it home safely.”

“Oppa! I didn’t know you were here. Good to see you.” Sua smiles back. “Are you just waking up?”

“Oddly enough, yeah. Where is everyone?”

“Mom and dad insisted they needed to get more grocery shopping done, and Bin oppa was gone before I got back.” Sua shrugs.

“Gone?” Dongmin questions as he works on making himself some food.

“No clue. Probably last minute Christmas shopping. Speaking of, you want to help me make some cookies after you eat?”

“Yeah, that sounds about right.” Dongmin chuckles. “I’d love to help bake some cookies! Sounds like fun.”

Forty-five minutes later, Bin walks in the front door to the smell of fresh cookies. “ Something smells good in here.” He cheers, going straight for the kitchen.

“We just finished chocolate chip cookies, working on some sugar cookies now.” Sua cheers, picking up the bowl the chocolate chip cookie dough was in to bring it to the sink to clean it.

“I came home at the right time then.” Bin laughs, going over and planting a kiss on Dongmin’s cheek. “Good morning by the way, sleepyhead.” He teases.

Dongmin smiles and turns, giving Bin a quick peck on the lips. “Where did you run off to, leaving me all alone?”

Before Bin can answer, the sound of a metal bowl hitting the floor made both of them jump.

“Sua? Are you okay?” Bin asks.

“DID YOU JUST KISS?!”

“Oh my god, we didn’t tell Sua.” Dongmin whispers.

“We didn’t tell Sua.” Bin nods back. “Oops.”

“Are you two?!” Sua asks in shock.

“Dating? Yeah. Surprise?” Bin shrugs.

“How long?!”

“… almost three years.”

“THREE YEARS?! Do mom and dad know? Mom is going to kill you for not telling her!”

“We told them last night. It was a shock for sure, but I’m still alive.”

“Honestly, beyond the initial shock of seeing you two kiss, this actually makes perfect sense. It just… feels right. I’m just saying though, you could do better.” Sua hums, turning her attention back to her cookies.

“Better than Dongmin?” Bin asks.

“Oh no, I was talking to Dongmin.”

“YAH!” Bin whines.

Dongmin can’t help but laugh. “Be nice to him please Sua. I’m the one that has to deal with all his pouting. Anyway, back to my question, where did you go this morning?”

“Working on some last minute Christmas shopping.”

“I could’ve gone with you! Why didn’t you wake me?”

“Because you needed more sleep, plus maybe I was shopping for you!”

“You bought my Christmas present online two weeks ago. I know because you couldn’t stop talking about how excited you were about it.” Dongmin presses, handing Bin a cookie now that they’ve cooled enough to eat.

“Maybe I had another idea!” Bin shrugs, happily taking the cookie. “You’ll just have to wait and see!”

“Wait until when?” Dongmin pouts.

“Just until Christmas my ever so nosey boyfriend.” Bin laughs, ruffling Dongmin’s hair.

“But Christmas is still two whole days away!”

“The surprise will be worth the wait my love. Have a cookie, they taste great!”

“Mom! Dad! Sua! Come here!” Bin calls out for his family members while Dongmin is on the phone upstairs with his brother. It was Christmas Eve already, which meant Bin had to set up his big surprise.

“Binnie? Is everything okay?” His mom asks, arriving into the living room first, followed shortly by his dad.

“What’s up loser?” Sua greets casually sliding onto the couch near Bin.

“Here.” Bin says handing each of them a package, ignoring Sua’s insult.

“What is this?” Sua asks, examining the bag that was just given to her.

“Pajamas.” Bin answers as if it were obvious.

“You got us matching pajamas?” Bin’s mom questions, taking it out of the packaging.

“Make sure I gave you the right one. I had them embroidered to have names and a small moon on the front.”

Sua examines the pajamas, finding a red long sleeved sweater like top, with her name and a small moon embroidered in the top right corner, and some checkered bottoms to match. “You’re going to need to give a real good reason on why you got us matching pajamas if you’re expecting me to wear this.”

“I need everyone in their pajamas and downstairs around the tree tomorrow morning please.” Bin starts. “It’s a surprise for Dongmin. He loves this time of year, but his parents… not so much. Growing up he always spent the holidays in his room by himself, watching Christmas movies, and wishing his family was one that wore matching pajamas and enjoyed the holiday together. I know it may seem a bit cringey to you, but this will mean the absolute world to Dongmin. So please, even if it’s just for a little bit tomorrow morning, please wear the pajamas.”

“Damn. That’s a really good reason.” Sua mumbles.

“Is this why you went out yesterday?” His mom asks.

“Yeah. Since we only decided the night before we came here we were going to tell you all we were dating, and even then we didn’t know how the news would go over, so I didn’t exactly have a chance to do this in advance. However, as soon as I saw that us dating went over well, I knew I had to do this.”

“Binnie, please never stop going above and beyond to make those special to you aware of how much you love them.” His mom smiles.

“So, you’ll wear them?” Bin asks, hopeful.

“I will.” His mom replies happily.

“So will I.” His dad chimes in.

“You are setting my relationship standards way too high.” Sua pouts. “Of course I’ll wear them.”

“Sua, if whoever you end up with doesn’t treat you like a queen, they aren’t the one. And, if they hurt you, well they should sleep with one eye open.” Bin smiles back.

Sua nods a bit. “You’re right. Thank you oppa.”

“And thank you all for helping me out with this. Now please go hide them, Dongmin can’t know about these until tomorrow and I have no idea how much longer he’ll be talking to his brother.”

~❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃❆☃~

“Good morning my love. Merry Christmas.” Bin hums softly, gently moving hair out of Dongmin’s eyes.

“Merry Christmas.” Dongmin smiles back softly, having just woken up. “ What are you doing awake before me?”

“Scheming.”

“That’s never a good thing.” Dongmin chuckles, stretching out a bit before cuddling back into Bin. “What are you planning over there?”

“It’s a Christmas surprise!”

“Well, last I checked it is Christmas, so will you fill me in?”

“Maybe if you wake up and give me my good morning kisses you could bribe me enough to fill you in.”

“I think I can manage that.” Dongmin laughs, leaning up and locking lips with Bin.

The two make out lazily for a minute, before Dongmin gets impatient. “Did the bribe work?”

Bin chuckles a bit. “It sure did.” He smiles, reaching under the bed and pulling out a wrapped present.

“A present? Shouldn’t we wait to be downstairs to open anything?” Dongmin questions.

“Not for this one.” Bin smiles, handing it to Dongmin. “I’m going to go use the restroom. You open this up, do with it what a normal person would do, then meet me downstairs, okay?”

“Do with it what a normal person would do? Binnie what on earth does that mean?”

“You’ll know when you open it!” Bin cheers, getting out of bed, leaving one last kiss on Dongmin’s cheek. “I’ll see you downstairs!”

Dongmin is rather confused, but still does what Bin told him to do. “Pajamas?” He questions upon opening the present. He decides to not think too much into things, and changes into the pajamas quickly, before he gets ready to head downstairs.

“He’s coming!” Bin smiles excitedly, going to wait at the bottom of the stairs for his boyfriend, after changing into his pajamas in the bathroom.

Dongmin descends the stairs slowly, still somewhat waking up, and smiles widely when he sees Bin. “Binnie? You got us matching pajamas?”

“I sure did!” Bin smiles, grabbing Dongmin’s hand. “Then, I took it one step further.” He says softly, pulling his boyfriend just a couple steps forward, so he can see the whole family sitting around the tree in matching pajamas.

“Everyone… is wearing matching pajamas… just like…”

“Just like the movies.” Bin smiles back. “Merry Christmas, Dongmin.”

Dongmin turns around and brings Bin into a tight hug. “I can’t believe you remembered. Thank you Binnie.”

“How could I forget?” Bin hums, hugging him back. “Come on, we got presents to open!”

After opening presents, the five of them ate a late breakfast together, then spent the day playing games, drinking, and talking. To Dongmin, it didn’t actually matter what they were doing, the fact that they were all together made it his favorite Christmas ever, and the matching pajamas were the cherry on top.
