Work Text:

[BREAKING] BLACKPINK JISOO AND SNOWDROP CO-STAR JUNG HAE-IN FOUND DATING]
Jisoo drops her phone, shell shocked.
She wraps her arms around her knees, unable to stop herself from trembling.
She knew it was going to happen eventually, but having it happen–the fact that the world found out was just as scary.
She may have told Haein that she didn’t mind, that she didn’t care about people finding out–but she still remembers what happened when Jennie and Kai were revealed to be dating, all the hate, all the nasty comments, insulting, hurting Jennie, till she was driven to almost suicide.
Jisoo was the one that stopped her, the one who slept with her to comfort her from her nightmares, the one who saw what the scandal did to Jennie.
She remembers staying up, waking up early to keep an eye on Jennie, making sure she doesn’t try again, because losing her best friend would be too much to handle.
Jisoo knows how dangerous love is for a kpop idol.
And yet.
And yet when she met Jung Haein on the set of Snowdrop, she forgot to keep her facade up, forgot to lock her heart away. Jung Haein crumbled her walls, helped her remember what romance–what love was.
But she couldn’t do this now, not when the news had come out, not when there was too much at stake and her members, they’d all be so worried, especially her Jennie, and she promised to protect her, and she was fucking everything up now, but she couldn’t just abandon Haein, could she?
Her head was spinning, and the room was spinning, moving too fast and Jisoo feels the panic rising up within her, and she can't breathe—
Jisoo doesn’t hear the door creak open, doesn’t hear the footsteps approaching, not until she feels hands on her hands, and a warm voice in her ear.
“Jisoo. Can you focus on my voice? Breath slowly. In, and out. In, and out,”
Jisoo obeys, until her mind is clearer, no longer fogged up, and she can see Haein, his touch comforting, sending burning fire wherever he touches.
She takes a ragged breath.
“Jisoo, is this about the news?” Haein asks softly, and Jisoo can’t help the tears that fall, because Haein knows her so well, and she was too tired to fight against her tears anymore.
“Shh, it's okay, baby,” Haein whispers as he wraps his arms around her, and Jisoo melts into his hug, pressing her face into her shoulders, as she buries herself in his warmth.
“I-I’m just scared…” she whispers, her voice shaky, and she knows Haein knows what she’s talking about, because she trusted him enough to open up about everything, and he knows her struggles, her vulnerabilities.
“It’ll be okay,” he murmurs.
“We’ll work through it together, right? And everything will be okay, and I’ll be with you, and I’ll never abandon you, not ever,”
Jisoo blinks uncertainly as she listened to his words. To say she was doubtful was an understatement. But Haein seemed so sure, so confident, and she trusted him, ever so much, and that was what love is, right? Trust in each other.
“Not ever?” she breathes, because she needs to know, because Haein was her lighthouse in the rocky waters, her anchor when the waves threatened to drag her under, and she desperately needed him, desperately wanted him to stay with her.
“I’ll be with you, Jisoo, until forever, okay?” Haein says.
She nods, as a wave of relief washes over her.
She closes her eyes and leans into his embrace.
There was so much to worry about, and the world was going to get messy, but she had the comfort of knowing Haein would be by her side, and she felt confident that things–while not being perfect, or excellent, will at least (at least) work out okay.

Notes:

Jisoo is basically terrified that she could lose Jennie again, and on top of that Haein as well.
posted for Christmas 2022 because snowdrop gives all the (obviously) chilly, snowy feels.
