Chapter Text

Airi looked..off. Ena could tell. They hadn’t been able to see each other for a few weeks, especially with More! More JUMP! having tours and fan meetings, but finally found some time to fit something into their schedules. Now, however, Airi is sitting on Ena’s couch, picking at her cuticles and pulling at her hair lightly. She only ever does that when she’s nervous, or taking herself a little too far into her own thoughts.

Ena moves closer to Airi on the couch, close enough for their shoulders to be touching, and leans against her. No response. She puts her arm around Airi, and still, no response. Ena’s expression turns from one of confusion to concern.

“Is something wrong, Ai-” Ena asks in a soft, low voice, only to be interrupted by Airi snapping back.

“I’m fine!” Is what she responds with, her voice cracking.

“Are you sure? You’re not thinking a-” Ena tries to push further, but is once again cut off by Airi.

“I’m fine! You don’t have to be so.. Nosy! Mind your business.” Airi raises her voice, making Ena lean back. Ena sighs quietly and stands from the couch and instead goes to the kitchen. She rummages around through a few drawers before finding what she was looking for; a variety bag of sweets. She was planning to give them to Airi for her birthday, as well as a few other things, but she figured it wouldn’t hurt to give them to her now. She took the bag back to the couch, presenting them to Airi with a smile.

“I got these for you.” She says, shaking the bag and grabbing Airi’s attention. The girl slowly reaches her hand up to the plastic bag, opening it as Ena sits back down next to her. A small smile appears on Airi’s face when she sees the candy inside, leaning against Ena.

“...Sorry.” Airi apologizes, and Ena sighs exasperatedly, patting her on the head. They sit there in silence for a little, neither of them really knowing how to continue from there. Maybe it was better that they could be content with nothing more than each other’s presence.
