“Bedooooo, you hafta be careful!!” Sucrose said, gently dragging you away from the glass bottles on your desk. You were smaller than she was, and you knew that glass could be very ouchie when it breaks.. But all the swirly stuff inside looked so pretty, and you wanted to touch it super bad, and it was right there, and you whined as she pulled you away.
“Pretty,” you whined, pouting directly at your assistant and best friend. You wanted all the pretty, swirly stuff!
“Pretty, but it’s owie! You’re gonna get hurted and then you’re gonna get sad, and then I’m gonna get sad, and then we’re both gonna be super sad!” she insisted, holding both of your hands as she looked into your eyes. Rosie’s hands were always so warm.. “So you gotta be careful, ‘kay?”
“Mm.. ‘Kay,” you mumbled, looking around your little base in the snowy mountain of Dragonspine. Suddenly, you really didn’t wanna be cold anymore, and you whined out again. “Rosieeeeeeee,” you pleaded with a shiver as your blue eyes gathered shimmering tears, “Too cold..”
Her eyes widened, and she panicked for a minute before she remembered something. “Oh!! Hang on; I ‘member where our stuff is!!” She let go of your hands to rush off to a corner of the base, and you whined a bit louder. Now you were even colder, and you didn’t like it. Not one bit.
You didn’t have to worry for long, though; Rosie came right back with your comfy clothes and your binky and a super duper soft, warm blankie for both of you to share. You sniffled a bit, and Rosie helped you get changed, since she was bigger than you anyway. She only had a little tiny bit of trouble getting her comfy clothes on!
Once you were both comfy, she handed you your binky; it was a soft, pastel blue pacifier with a gold trim and white gemstones dotting the corners of the rim, and beaded letters that spelled out “Starlight” on the handle. You wasted no time and popped the soother right into your mouth, giving a quiet hum as you played with your hands. While you gave a few suckles, Rosie giggled and pulled you over to the designated “Baby Corner”.
Beforehand, the two of you (with help from Timaeus) had made a cozy little area with plushies and toys and pillows and blankets, and it was always very nice to relax there after a cold day in Dragonspine. Once you were both snuggled up and comfy in the Baby Corner, Rosie pulled the blankie around both of you, and you made a happy noise as you rested your head on her shoulder.
“There!! ‘S all be’der, right??” she smiled, and you smiled back. Rosie was so warm, and so were her smiles. Everything about Rosie was warm, and comfy, and snuggly, and cozy, and- and.. she felt like home.
As your eyes began to close and the world started to fade around you two, that was the last thing you could think of before drifting off to Dreamland- to a dream with you and Rosie and everyone else you love so, so much.
Home was Rosie, and Rosie was home.
