"I don't even see why you're up here anyway," Izumi grumbles under his breath. NewDi's office is the one of highest in the building—there's no reason for anyone from any other agency to come by unless they have actual business. Rinne laughs, which means he didn't say it softly enough—well, whatever. Isn't like he cares if he gets heard complaining about someone not from their agency in their agency's space—
"I came t'see Kohaku-chan," Rinne replies, but if that's true, then he could've just fucked off and found the young bee instead of annoyingly hanging around him. Izumi opens his mouth to say just that before Rinne jostles him with his shoulder, arm coming around his middle while Izumi's been thrown off balance. "And the rest of you, 'course! Especially you, Izumi-chan."
"Get your hands off of—"
"You don't gotta act so mean." Rinne rests his head against Izumi's, eyes slitting the way Ritsu's do when he knows something no one else knows. "We're friends, aren't we? And you get pretty chummy with your other friends—why not little old me, huh? And after ya boy came aaaaall the way up just to see you."
"Gee, thanks ." Izumi lets the touch linger a little longer before he shoves Rinne off, brushing his jacket with a sigh. "Just behave yourself, alright? Santa-san doesn't give gifts to bad boys."
Rinne raises his eyebrows as if to ask, 'you still believe in Santa?' and Izumi shakes his head before he goes back to sorting through Christmas decorations. He can see the other idol edge closer out of the corner of his eye; the red hair peeks more into view as Rinne leans over, balancing on one foot. He whistles long and low, jerking back up as Izumi straightens up, too.
"You guys sure go all out for a tiny little company, huh?"
"All of this is Kasa-kun's doing." Their leader had spared absolutely no expense—he's sure Tsumugi had a headache dealing with the aftermath, even if Tsukasa used his own funds for it. "It's our first year in a new place, and me and Leo-kun are actually here for the holidays, sooooo..."
Rinne makes a noise to indicate he's listening, but Izumi doubts he actually is—he's busy rooting through the decorations instead, cackling when he pulls up a pair of reindeer horns and a necklace of bells that jingle and jangle in the most headache-inducing way. Izumi rolls his eyes and grabs a small red bow from one of the packages, smacking it right in the center of Rinne's face.
Rinne blinks. It's cute—no, Izumi corrects himself, it'd be cute on anyone else. Except Tenshouin. And Mikejima.
"What the hell are you staring at?" He asks, turning away to dig through a box. Reindeer ornaments, sparkly gold tinsel, fake popcorn balls—all of this is for the tree, which they haven't set up yet. He shoves the box aside and yanks another one closer, peering in with a sigh."I just gave you a red nose, since you wanted to act like a clown sooo badly."
"—Lemme stop ya there, Izumi-chan! I'm a reindeer, not a clown!" Rinne takes a one-two step around the next box that's shoved his way. Izumi clicks his tongue, grabbing a third box. Wreathes, colored lights, foam snowflakes and the wire meant to hold them—the right box, this time. He pulls a long garland from the bottom of it, holding back a groan at the weight, and nearly lands flat on his ass as he finally frees it from the rest of the decor inside.
Nearly, because Rinne catches him just barely, cushioning his fall. Izumi scrambles off of him (though he'd never call it that, even if that's what it was) and an apology is on the tip of his tongue before it falls away. Rinne actually looks— concerned , his eyebrows pressed together slightly. It's a new look on him. It's a weird look, but now that Izumi thinks about it, it can't be that outlandish to think the other idol is capable of being worried. He has a little brother, for one; he's in a unit of juniors for two; and for three, he's human. It's still weird to have it directed at him, though, and he clears his throat as he stands up, the garland heavy in his arms.
Rinne follows suit, the concern still hanging at the edges of his eyes as he pulls on his usual mocking grin—it makes it feel fake, just put on . Just an act.
Maybe it is. Izumi squints at him a moment before he glances down at the garland; he tosses it at Rinne, a shred of delight blooming in his chest as the other idol swears and nearly drops it.
"If you're gonna insist on being around here, Amagi, you better help decorate. Get to handling that stuff, you stupid beanstalk, and maaaybe I'll let you handle some of the delicate stuff too."
Rinne raises his eyebrows as if to ask, 'are you part of that delicate stuff?' and Izumi throws a snowflake at him, relishing in the way the other idol almost trips over his own feet trying to catch it in his mouth.
