CEDAR SINAI HOSPITAL
Eddie came awake from his anesthesia. He looked to the right and saw Ana sitting there, he felt the unfamiliar tube that felt like it was choking him. He turned to his left and saw his Abuela sitting there smiling with tears in her eyes. "Hola, dulce sobrino." She said, running her hand through his hair. "Edmundo, you're awake." Ana said standing up and smiling at him. Abuela felt her nephew's arm tense at her voice. "Ana would you be a dear and go get the nurse?" Isabella asked.
"O of course." She said running outside. Eddie looked at her with fear in his eyes. "I am going to make a call, and we'll get your Buck here." Abuela said leaning over and kissing Eddie's head.
"Mr Diaz it's good to see you awake." The Doctor said.
"We can he get this tube out of his throat?" Ana asked insistently.
"Let me check him. Would you ladies please step outside." The Doctor asked.
Eddie tensed again under Abuela's hand. "May I stay? I am his Aunt." Isabella asked.
"Of course." The doctor said.
"But I,m his girlfriend." Ana said, going to the other side of the bed but was stopped by Josephine. "Ven, niño." She ordered, as she pushed Ana out of the room.
"Now Mr Diaz, in your chart it has an Evan Buckley as your Medical Proxy would you like to call him?" The Doctor asked.
Eddie nodded with wide eyes. "Please do Doctor. My Nephew is very unsettled and Evanito can calm him down." Isabella said.
"Alright, I will have a nurse call him and then we'lll proceed." The doctor said smiling at them.
EDDIE'S HOUSE
Buck was sitting on the couch watching Chris play with Jee yun. Maddie and Carla were sitting in the arm chairs talking quietly. He was startled when his phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and noticed the hospital calling. "Hello?" He answered walking into the kitchen.
"Is this Evan Buckley?" A nurse asked.
"It is. Is everything alright?" Buck asked.
"Yes. Doctor Knight wanted me to call and ask you to come to the hospital. Mr Diaz has woken and is very anxious." The Nurse said.
"Of course. I'll be right there." Buck said hanging up.
"Everything ok?" Maddie asked.
"Eddie woke up and is upset. I am heading there now." Buck said going back to the living . "Hey Superman. I am going to the Hospital. Your dad woke up and he is upset. So Tia Maddie is going to stay with you and I'll be back in a little while." Buck said sitting beside him.
"C can I c come?" Chris asked.
"Not this time Bud. But once I have him settled I'll face time Carla and you two can talk." Buck said ruffling Chris' hair.
"Ok." Chris said.
"I'll be back in a few hours." Buck said kissing his head.
CEDAR SINAI HOSPITAL
Eddie walked into the ICU wing and found Ana and Pepa standing outside of Eddie's room. "Why were you called?" Ana asked.
"Hush, Nino." Pepa said.
"But I am Edmundo's girlfriend." Ana said indignantly.
"Go in Evanito." Pepa said.
Buck squeezed Pepa's arm and went into the room to see Eddie fighting the tube. "Eds hey, Calm down." Buck said rushing to him and grabbing his uninjured hand.
"Oh Evanito I am so glad you're here nino." Abuela said.
"Of course Abuela. I wouldn't leave my second favorite Diaz hanging. Could you grab the doctor?" Buck asked.
"Si Sobrino." Abuela said leaving the room.
"I,m here Eds, Just relax. I know the tube hurts but the doctor will get it out soon." Buck said sitting on the bed rubbing his hand over Eddie's stomach.
Dr Knight came in and smiled. "I presume you're Mr Buckley?" He asked.
"I am." Buck said going to let go of Eddie's hand. Eddie clenched his hand hard.
"I don't think I'm going anywhere." Buck said.
"It's alright. We all need a support system. Now Eddie I am going to take this tube out. Now I won't lie it will hurt." Dr Knight said. Eddie nodded and glanced at Buck with pleading eyes.
"Can I stay?" Buck asked.
"Yes. Just step up near his head so we have room to work." Dr Knight said. Buck moved up a little laid his hand on Eddie's good shoulder.
"Alright here we go." Dr Knight said instructing the nursing staff for the proper instruments.
"It's ok Eds, it's coming out. Then I'll get Ana back in here." Buck said.
Eddie shook his head. "No? Ok you want me to hang out?" Buck asked. Eddie nodded.
In a few minutes the doctor pulled the tube out causing Eddie to cough and choke. "Breath Eds." Buck told him keeping his hold of Eddie's good shoulder. Buck guided Eddie back onto the pillow and took some ice chips the nurse had supplied and fed them to him. "Bet that feels good on your throat." Buck said setting the cup down.
"You ok?" Eddie asked hoarsley.
"I'm fine. Just have been worried about you." Buck said rubbing Eddie's stomach with her hand.
"Where Chris?" Eddie asked.
"He is with Carla and Maddie. Nurse Annie called and told me you were upset." Buck said pulling the chair over, but stayed put when Eddie yanked his hand.
"eeded you." Eddie said.
"And I will always be here when you or Chris need me." Buck said, turning and nodding for Abuela and Pepa to come in. Ana followed and stood on the right side of the bed. "Now that you're awake Buck can go back to Christopher." Ana said.
"Buck stays." Abuela said, in a very stern voice.
"But I am here." Ana said.
"Callate" Pepa said.
"Edmundo." Ana said only for Buck to stand up and turn to her. "Let him rest. I've had a tube pulled from my mouth and it sucks." Buck said.
"I need Buck here right now." Eddie said.
"How are you feeling querido niño?" Abuela asked.
"Hurts." Eddie said.
"I'll go get the medicine the doctor prescribed." The Nurse said.
After a few minutes the nurse came back and injected some medicine into his IV. "Alright unless you're Mr Diaz's medical proxy you need to leave the room." The Nurse said.
"I'm his girlfriend." Ana said.
"I don't care if you're the pope. Unless you have the power to make medical decisions for Mr Diaz which unless your name is Isabella Diaz, Josephine Diaz or Evan Buckley you can not do. You need to leave." The nurse said.
"She can stay." Buck said standing as he felt Eddie relax.
"No." Eddie said shaking his head.
"Hey listen. I need to go check on Superman. Abuela and Pepa are staying as well." Buck said keeping his hand on Eddie's good shoulder.
"Love him." Eddie said sluggishly.
"I'll tell him. I'll be back before dinner and check on you. And we'll face time him." Buck said leaning down to knock his forehead to Eddie's.
As he went to leave he turned to Abuela and kissed her cheek. "Call me if he needs me before dinner." Buck said.
"He won't, I'm here." Ana said.
Buck shared a look with Pepa as he hugged her. "Like I said call me." Buck said glancing back at Eddie who was dozing off.
DINNER TIME
EDDIE'S ROOM
Buck walked back into the room after checking on Christopher and getting him settled at Hen and Karen's for a sleepover. Pepa was reading a book and Abuela was glaring at Ana who was laying on Eddie. "Evanito." Abuela said, causing Ana to open her eyes and glare at him.
"Any more anxiousness?" Buck asked.
"No Quierido Nino. He slept the whole time." Pepa said, moving over on the couch so Buck could sit down.
"How is my Dulce Chris?" Abuela asked.
"He's fine. I took him over to a friend of ours house for a sleepover. It'll take his mind off his worry for his dad." Buck said.
"He should be with me when I go back to Eddie's house." Ana said.
"Not happening. Christopher needs normalcy. I don't think you and Eddie are at the stage he would want you in his house without him there." Buck said.
"He's right Nina. Eddito prefers only a handful of people in his home without him there." Abuela said.
"But he goes there as does Carla." Ana argued.
"Mantenga la voz baja, niño" Pepa admonished Ana.
"Evanito is Eddito's family. He is welcome at any of our houses at any time. Which reminds me Evanito, you need to come over soon and learn some recipes." Abuela said.
Buck laughed "As soon as we get hime home. We;ll come over and you can teach me." Buck said.
Eddie came awake a little and moaned. "Uck?" He said.
"Edmundo it's me Ana. I'm here sweetheart." Ana said.
"Buck?" Eddie asked louder.
"I;,m here Eds. Relax. What's wrong?" Buck asked getting up and stepping up to Eddie's bad arm and lightly touching his hand.
"Hurts." Eddie said.
"I know. Want us to get the nurse for some more medicine?" Buck asked.
"No. It'll pass." Eddie said grabbing hold of Buck's hand.
"Edmundo you need pain meds." Ana said
"Child if you do not hush." Pepa said threatening Ana.
Ana huffed "Edmundo can you believe she talked to me that way? Aren't you going to say anything?" Ana asked.
Eddie in one swift motion sat up and growled. "Get out." He said looking at Ana.
"What?" Ana asked sputtering.
"Get out. They're my family." Eddie said.
"No, if anyone needs to leave it's him." Ana said pointing to Buck.
"NO He stays. Buck?" Eddie asked with pain in his voice.
"It's ok. Ana please leave. If you claim to love him, then respect his request." Buck said.
"Eddie how are we doing?" The nurse said coming in.
"He sat up too fast and is a lot of pain." Buck said keeping his arm around Eddie.
"If you're not family, or medical proxy you need to leave." The nurse said.
"I'm his girlfriend." Ana stated.
"I don't care if you're the president unless you're his medical proxy you need to leave. NOW." The nurse said.
Ana stood up there. "I'm his medical proxy." She said.
The nurse burst out laughing. "Is your name Evan Buckley?" The nurse asked.
"Well no...." Ana said.
"Well then you need to leave. Do I need to call security." The nurse asked.
"No i'll leave. Edmundo I'll see you tomorrow." Ana said going to kiss him and getting shunned.
Once she left Buck lowered Eddie to the bed and kept his hands on him. "It's okay, Just breath. Nurse Anne is going to get some pain meds." Buck said.
"The nerve of that Moza." Abuela said huffing. Eddie opened his eyes and smirked at Buck.
"Tell us how you really feel Abuela." Buck said.
Nurse Anne came back in with a syringe. "Alright some good stuff." Anne said winking at Buck as she injected it into Eddie's iv. "Should work soon." Anne said.
"Will it make him drowsy?" Buck asked.
"Not too bad. Why?" Anne asked.
"I promised a little boy some facetime with his dad. He's been worried." Buck said.
"Well I am sure Eddie here can rally for his little boy." Anne said.
"Thanks Anne." Buck said smirking.
Anne left and Eddie looked at Buck "Call now?" Eddie asked.
"Of course Eds, but I need a hand to do that." Buck said looking to where Eddie had death grips on Buck's hand and overshirt.
"Sorry." Eddie said.
"Abuela, Pepa you want in on the Facetime?" Buck asked.
"Of course Nieto. I need to see my Dulce Chris." Abuela said coming over and scooching in for facetime. Buck got it calling and passed the phone to Pepa and leaned back to keep his hands on Eddie's leg.
MEANWHILE
EDDIE'S HOUSE
Carla, Maddie, Athena and Bobby were all sitting around the living room after the facetime with Buck and Eddie. Christopher was laying on the couch with Maddie and Carla. They were all startled by a knock on the door. "I'll get it." Bobby said getting up. When he opened the door, he found Ana standing there with a suitcase. "Can I help you?" H easked.
"I'm Ana, Edmundo's girlfriend. I thought I'd come and stay with Christopher." Ana said.
On the couch Christopher started crying. "What's wrong Sweetheart?" Maddie asked.
"I i don't want to stay with her." Chris said.
Maddie hugged him. "You won't. If need be you'll come stay with me and Chim. I could use some help making cookies." Maddie said kissing his head.
"Ana I don't know what gave you the idea Eddie wanted you to stay with Chris. But Carla and my wife and I, as well as Buck's sister knows Christopher's routine by heart. He would stay with us." Bobby said.
"But I am Edmundo's girlfriend. I should be taking care of him." Ana said, all but stomping her foot.
"Sorry but he's staying with Maddie tonight while Buck is with Eddie." Bobby said. Meanwhile Carla was texting Buck.
AT THE HOSPITAL.
Buck was talking quietly with Abuela and Pepa when his phone beeped. He looked at it and groaned. "What is it Nieto?" Pepa asked.
"Ana is at Eddie's house causing a scene and upsetting Christopher." Buck said getting up.
Eddie stirred "Wh,r going?" Eddie slurred.
"Ana is at your house. I need to go and make sure Superman is ok." Buck said.
"She can't stay with him." Eddie said alert.
"I know. I am going to call Maddie and have her take him home with her." Buck said.
"Go Nieto, we'll stay with Eddito." Abuela said.
"I'll be back once I get Christopher settled at Maddie,s" Buck said squeezing Eddie's good hand.
"Ok." Eddie said softly.
Buck kissed both Abuela and Pepa's cheeks and stepped out of the room to the nurses desk. Anne stepped up and smiled at him. "Hey Buck, what can i do for you?" She asked.
"I have run check on Eddie's son. Is the doctor going to try to change his dressing tonight?" Buck asked.
"No. He will likely wait til you're here." Anne said.
"Ok, thanks. I'll be back in an hour or so." Buck said.
"We'll keep him alive til you get back." Anne said.
"Thanks." Buck said smirking as he left.
EDDIE'S HOUSE
Buck pulled up to see Bobby and Carla arguing with Ana. "Where's Chris?" Buck asked.
"In side with Athene and Maddie." Bobby said.
"He can't go in there. He's not family." Ana said.
"Lady I don't know who the hell you think you are. But Eddie won't let you stay here unless he is here." Buck said.
"Edmundo said I should get to know Christopher." Ana said.
Just then the door opened and Christopher came barrelling out as fast as he could. "BUCK!!!!" He was crying.
Buck squatted and caught him. "Hey Superman. What's wrong?" Buck asked in his ear.
"She wants to stay Bucky." Christopher said.
"Christopher I am going to be your parent someday soon. I should stay with you." Ana said.
Christopher looked paniced at Buck. "Right now you're going to get packed. You want to know why?" Buck asked leaning back.
"Why?" Chris asked.
"Cause you Superman have a special task. You are going to help Aunt Maddie bake some of her famous Red velvet cookies." Buck said.
"Dad loves Red Velvet." Christopher said.
"Edmundo like white cake." Ana said standing primly.
Christopher glared at her, Buck turned him back towards him. "Go inside and have Aunt Maddie and Carla help you pack. And ask Nana Thena to come out please." Buck said standing and watching Christopher go inside before he rounded on Ana. "You are not that boys mother. And until Eddie says otherwise you will not be staying here. So I am asking you kindly to please take your suitcase and leave. Or I will call the police." Buck said.
"They're on their way Baby." Athena said standing next to Bobby.
"Edmundo will be hearing about this." Ana said.
"He already knows. And said you were not to stay. So unless you want charges brought against you I suggest you leave. And do not go to the hospital. You're not welcomed." Buck said.
Ana huffed as she walked off. "How long before that fool man breaks up with that harpy." Athena said shaking her head.
"When we leave would you guys stay. I have a feeling she'll go somewhere close and try to come back." Buck asked.
"Of course Babe. Let's go get my grandson packed." Athena said.
NEXT DAY-MORNING
HOSPITAL-EDDIE'S ROOM
Buck had stayed the night and was just going to the bathroom when he heard a commotion out in the hall. "But I am his girlfriend." Ana said.
"Are you kidding me?" Buck asked quietly, heading for the door.
"Ask him." Ana said.
The morning nurse Betty looked at Buck helplessly. "It's ok Bets. I got it. Call security tho." Buck said quietly.
"I demand to see Edmundo." Ana said.
"Eddie is still asleep. You will not be going in there and making a scene." Buck said.
"He's my boyfriend." Ana said.
"And he's in a lot of pain and in the hospital. Now if you would like to come in and see him that is fine. But if he asks you to leave you leave. Got it?" Buck said.
"Fine." Ana said shoving past him. Betsy came up to Buck wincing.
"She's a peach ain't she?" She asked.
"She's something." Buck said.
"Carl is on standby down the hall." Betsy said.
"Thanks." Buck said going into the room. He found Eddie looking startled at Ana who was trying to climb into the bed. "No way. You sit in that chair right there." Buck said pointing to the chair he was sitting in.
"But..." Ana started.
"I can call security and have you removed and put on a block list." Buck said.
Eddie had to hide a smirk. "Sit in the chair Ana." Eddie said.
"Fine. I really think Evan should go home. Since I'm here." Ana said.
"He's not going anywhere. I need him here to make decision. I am still on strong medicines." Eddie said sighing.
"He wouldn't let me stay with Christopher last night." Ana said.
"Cause he knew I didn't want you to. We've only been dating a couple months. Christopher is comfortable with Buck. Hell he loves him more than me." Eddie said smirking.
"But I'm your girlfriend Edmundo." Ana said.
Just then the doctor came in. "Eddie how are we feeling this morning?" Dr Hale asked,
"Hurting. But nothing I can't handle." Eddie said.
"I am sure. I do want to do a wound check tho." David said.
"Ok. Uhhh." Eddie said looking to Buck.
"Can I sit on the bed on his other side?" Buck asked.
"Of course. I was going to suggest it. The back of the shoulder will be very tender." David said.
Buck walked over to sit down but Ana beat him. "You can lean on me Edmundo." She said.
"Please move so Buck can sit." Eddie said.
"But.." Ana sputtered.
"Ms Flores maybe it's best you wait out in the waiting room until we're done." David said.
"But I'm his girlfriend. Evan ain't even anything more than a co worker." Ana said.
"GET OUT!!!!!. DO NOT COME BACK." Eddied yelled having heard enough. Ana scurried from the room in a huff.
"Eds, breath." Buck said sitting down and laying his hand on Eddie's good arm.
"I don't want her here no more." Eddie said gritting his teeth.
"Ok." Buck said pulling Eddie carefully to lean into his shoulder so David could peel the wound bandage away. "Looking good." David said.
"Keep breathing deep Eds, He's almost done." Buck said.
"Who was here when you had to have bandages removed for your leg surgeries?" David asked.
"No one. Ali my then girlfriend broke up with me right after surgery." Buck said feeling the fist in his shirt go tight.
"Man that's rough." David said tying Eddie's gown back.
"All done. We're gonna lean back slow." Buck said standing and started leaning Eddie back.
"Betty let's get Mr Diaz some good stuff. And start looking for a step down room. I am sure a few people would love to see him." David said.
"Also could you find a way to put Ana on a no visit list?" Eddie asked shaking.
"Of course. Bout time if you ask me." Betty said leaving. Buck and David both smirked.
"She speaks her mind." David said.
"She's fine. I knew it was coming. I had what I needed all along." Eddie said grabbing Buck's hand.
"I know a few people who'll be happy to hear that." David said.
THREE DAYS LATER
EDDIE'S HOUSE
Buck and Eddie made their way to the door. "You ready for this?" Buck asked.
"Not really. But I want to see my kid." Eddie said as Buck opened the door to reveal all of 118 and his family. Ana was there as well glowering.
"It's good to be home." Eddie said grabbing Chris and hugging him.
"D dad I am glad you're home." Chris said.
"Me too Mijo." Eddie said wincing when he leaned back.
"Buck snores." Chris said.
"I do not. I told you that was the garbage truck." Buck said ruffling Christopher's hair.
"Garbage trucks don't sleep on the couch Bucky." Chris said.
"You've been roasted by a nine year old Buckaroo." Hen said.
"I'm Ten." Christopher said.
"Right back atcha Henny." Buck said laughing.
"Eddito I am so glad you're recovering. Te amo mi querido sobrino." Abuela said kissing his cheek.
"Te amo también abuela" Eddie said.
"Come Eddie sit on the couch and let Buck get you a plate of food." Pepa said.
"Yes ma'am." Eddie said allowing Pepa to pull his good hand.
Buck went into the kitchen and was fixing Eddie a plate of food when Ana came in. "I can do that." Ana said.
"It's fine. I know what he likes. Eddie is picky about some foods." Buck said.
Ana plopped a big glob of what looked like Corn casserole onto the plate. "He'll love my Guiso de maiz." She said grinning.
Buck nodded and grabbed Eddie a soda and went back out to the living room. He handed Eddie the plate and saw the look he gave the Casserole and sat beside him. "Try it, then when I come with my plate we'll put it on my plate and won't say anything about it." Buck said opening his water.
"She brought it didn't she?" Eddie asked.
"Yes she did." Buck said getting up.
"Christopher, come let me make you a plate." Ana said.
"I can do it myself." Chris said going for the kitchen.
"But you need to be careful." Ana said.
"And you need to let his dads deal with that." Pepa said quietly, but Athena heard her.
"Buck, Carla and me made Red velvet cupcakes. And Tia Maddie made chocolate chip cookies." Chris said excitedly.
"No way. Maddie you made your famous Double Chocolate Chip cookies?" Buck asked.
"I did. And I even saved a box for you." Maddie said kissing his cheek.
"Yer da best sis." Buck said smiling at her. Chris came out of the kitchen with his plate and sat down on the floor in front of Eddie. "Christopher let me cut the meat for you." Ana said.
"No thanks." Chris said. Ana continued to try to cut the meat and Chris sat back angry.
"Superman c,mere. I need help eating some of my Mac and Cheese. And I think Dad needs help as well." Buck said scooting over and allowing Chris to get into the middle.
"Would you like Buck to cut your meat up?" Eddie asked.
"It's easier to cut with a fork." Chris said.
"Ok, Superman." Buck said ruffling his hair.
HOUR LATER
Everyone had left but Ana, Pepa, Abuela , Bobby and Athena. Buck was washing the dishes when Abuela came into the kitchen. "That harpy needs to leave." Abuela said.
Buck smirked at her. "Now Abuela." He said rincing the dish in his hand.
"She is too pushy." Abuela said drying the dishes in the rack.
"She is...." Buck stopped to find a nice word.
"Pushy, Opionionated." Abuela supplied.
"Yes." Buck said causing both to laugh.
"Where is Christopher?" Came Ana's voice.
"He is in his room. He had a long day." Buck said.
"He needs to be bathed." Ana said.
"He can shower on his own." Abuela said.
"But he could fall." Ana said.
"He hasn't yet." Buck said.
"Leave that boy alone. He has had enough Coddling de ti." Abuela said sternly.
"I just want him to like me Abuela." Ana said.
"Did I tell you, you could call me Abuela?" Isabella asked.
"I'm sorry Sra Diaz." Ana said leaving the room.
LIVING ROOM
Eddie was sitting on the couch trying to keep the pain in his shoulder at bay. Pepa was sitting in the recliner watching him as Ana came out of the kitchen. "Evan and your grandmother told me to leave Christopher alone." Ana said plopping down beside Eddie.
"I told you to leave him alone. Buck will get him handled." Eddie said closing his eyes back.
"Evan should go home and let me take over." Ana said.
"Evanito will be doing no such thing." Pepa said.
"He is just a co worker." Ana said.
"He's family. Christopher is more comfortable with him." Pepa said.
"Buck is my family. And if you do not like that, we need to re think seeing each other." Eddie said.
"Edmundo, he is only a co worker." Ana said.
"This is not working." Eddie said.
"What?" Ana asked.
"I said this is not working. You treat my son like he's your pet project. He doesn't like that. He wants to be treated like a normal kid." Eddie said.
"But he's not normal. He should know his limitations." Ana said.
"We know his limitations. Me and my family know what he can and can't do." Eddie said getting frustrated.
"Are you sure it's a good idea for Evan to be with him alone. I mean he could...." Ana stopped talking when she saw the look in Eddie's eyes.
"Get out." Eddie said through clenched teeth.
"Edmundo!!!" Ana said.
"GET OUT." Eddie hollered sitting straight up and groaned.
Pepa gasped. "EVANITO." She yelled.
Buck came out of the kitchen and looked to Eddie to see him struggling. "Eds. Breath" Buck said.
"Buck would not do anything to hurt Christopher. My God he nearly died trying to find him during a FUCKING TSUNAMI. We're done. I can't do this anymore. I know who I want and IT'S NOT YOU." Eddie said struggling against Buck.
"Ana it's time to go." Buck said.
"I'll come back when he can be civil." Ana said leaving.
"Alright Eds she's gone." Buck said lowering Eddie back to the couch.
"She insuated you would hurt our son Ev. How was I with her?" Eddie asked distraught.
"It's ok. I know what you believe Eds, Come on let's go and get you laying down." Buck said hauling Eddie up and guiding him to his bedroom.
Once there Eddie launched himself at Buck and held on. "Please don't leave us." Eddie said.
"I'm not going anywhere. You'd have to holler at me to get me to leave and then I'd fight tooth and nail." Buck said.
"I want us to try." Eddie said.
"To try what?" Buck asked.
"Dating. I love you Ev. I love you and I was stupid to try to date her. Please give us a chance." Eddie said crying.
"Ok. Hey let's do this. You need to relax. I am gonna check on Superman while you relax in here. And we'll talk some more in the morning." Buck said.
"Stay in here." Eddie said.
"Ok, Let me go see Abuela and Pepa off and check on Superman." Buck said getting up and kissing Eddie's forehead.
NEXT DAY
Buck woke up to find Eddie still asleep. He looked at his phone and saw Eddie was due an antibiotic for the infection the doctors are worried might come. And a pain pill. Buck got up and made his way down the hall and found Abuela in the Kitchen making breakfast. "Hola Evanito." Isabella said.
"Morning Abuela. What are you doing here?" Buck asked kissing her cheek.
"I had a feeling Ms Flores would be back this morning and I wanted to lend my support to you and my Nieto." Isabella said.
"Well Gracias. I am going to take some coffee to Eddie and his medications." Buck said pouring coffee for Eddie and grabbing the medicines. Once back in the bedroom he found Eddie struggling to sit up. "Hey, whoa." Buck said quickly setting the coffee down and guiding Eddie into a sitting position.
"You stayed." Eddie said softly.
"Of course. Where was I going to go?" Buck asked smirking.
"Run far away from this cluster duck." Eddie said.
"Come on now. I can't leave my four favorite Diaz's ." Buck said.
"Four?" Eddie asked raising his eyebrow.
"Christopher is first obviously. Abuela, Pepa and then you." Buck said winking.
"Of course." Eddie said sighing.
"Come on take your meds and let's go. Abuela has breakfast going." Buck said holding his hand out with both pills in it.
"Abuela is here?" Eddie asked throwing the pills in his mouth and swallowing with some coffee.
"Yep. I'm going to check on Chris. After I'll grab you a shirt." Buck said.
"Ev?" Eddie asked.
"Yeah." Buck said.
"We going to be ok?" Eddie asked.
"What makes you think we're not ok?" Buck asked.
"I dropped a bombshell on you last night." Eddie said.
"No you didn't You just confirmed something I've wanted for a while now. But first we have to make sure Ana is not an issue." Buck said leaning in and kissing Eddie's cheek. "Besides do Male friends kiss other male friend's foreheads and cheeks?" Buck asked winking.
AFTER BREAKFAST
Buck and Eddie were sitting at the table when a knock came to the door. "I'll go get that." Buck said. At the door he opened it to see Ana standing there . "Ana." Buck said.
"I need to speak to Edmundo." Ana said. "Come in. He's just finishing breakfast." Buck said stepping back.
Back in the kitchen Abuela cast a look to Ana. "Ms Flores." She said.
"Have a seat." Buck said grabbing his cup of coffee.
"Edmundo could we speak alone?" Ana asked.
"No. What I have to say is very short. We're through." Eddie said.
"Edmundo. Last night some things were said...." Ana said.
"Like how you insinuated that Evanito would harm Christopher." Abuela said glaring.
"Let me make one thing clear. I won't date someone who thinks Buck is a mere co worker." Eddie said.
"Edmundo. I am sorry. Please give us another chance." Ana said.
"No. Christopher won't stay in the same room as you. We're done." Eddie said.
"You'll regret this." Ana said getting up.
"Not likely." Eddie said as the front door slammed.
"You ok Eds?" Buck asked.
"Yes. I can do this now." Eddie said yanking Buck down to him and kissing him squarely on the lips.
Abuela was almost giddy. "Finally Eddito." Isabella said.
"I love you Evan." Eddie said resting his forehead on Bucks. "Love you too,"
1 YEAR LATER
Buck and Eddie were walking on the beach, Christopher playing in the waves. When they spotted Ana and a guy coming their way. "Oh good grief." Eddie said.
"Relax. Nothing can happen to us." Buck said lacing his left hand with Eddie's right.
"Edmundo. Evan." Ana said.
"Ana. You look nice." Eddie said.
"Thank you. This is my brother Eduardo." Ana said.
"Nice to meet you fellas. Who is this cute little thing?" Eduardo asked, indicating the baby who was nestled into a sling carrier on Eddie's chest.
"This is our daughter Isabelle Izzy for short Athena Diaz." Buck said.
"She is gorgeous. How old is she?" Eduardo asked.
"Four Months." Eddie said.
Just then Helena and Ramon came up. "Where's Christopher?" Helena asked Buck.
"Down by the water." Buck said nodding to where Chris was playing with some sand and water.
"Christopher needs to be with Edmundo." Ana said.
"Chris is fine. Buck and Eddie know what they're doing." Ramon said.
"Well we should be going. Need to get back under the umbrella." Eddie said.
"Nice meeting you folks." Eduardo said guiding Ana away.
Once back at the umbrella Eddie gave Izzy to Buck and went to the water with Chris. "Who was that woman?" Helena asked.
"That was Ana Flores." Buck said.
"Oh the Ana who insuated that you...?" Helena asked.
"The one and only." Buck said.
"I'm glad I didn't know that when I walked up." Helena said.
Buck smirked at her. "She tried to put a wedge between me and Eddie. But Eddie saw through her." Buck said.
Before Helena could reply Chris and Eddie came and dropped on the towel. "Tired of building sandcastles?" Helena asked.
"Bucky did you pack snacks?" Chris asked.
"I did." Buck said.
"Of course he did Mijo he's our Buck." Eddie said leaning in to kiss Buck.
