Work Text:

You readied yourself to be hitted by your own lightning for what felt like the tenth time that hour, shielding yourself behind your arms as your eyes refused to unlit and your magic to respond. The hit was rather quick, you felt cold and then really hot before your back hit the wall behind you with an awful thud.

Damn the kids and their spells. For two periods now, after one of your students' spells had gone wrong and backfired, your magic had been erratic, lightning stuck out of the corner of your eyes when you sneezed, and wind rose whenever your emotions were too strong, you felt like a first year student or worse…

The sound of one of the hallway's door opening made you try to focus, and among your blurry sight you managed to spot someone walking to you. The figure first kneeled next to you, holding your cheeks and trying your eyes to focus on them, a cought caught on your throat as you moved to sit straight and another lighting erupted in the hallway. You apologized and tried to stand up, only for strong arms to hold you straight as your legs buckled below you when you did. Shit.

"Easy there" The figure's voice was clear close to your ear as they held you straight, you knew that voice "What happened?" That voice… your mind showed you pictures of the color blue, candlelight and chalk. "Are you okay?" The figure shook you a little in their arms, nice, muscled arms, as your eyes stood close for far too long. The images kept playing, freckled skin, warmth, white eyes, … You shoot out of Farah's arms and against the wall once again, wind howling in the hallway as your eyes focused on her and the feeling of a deep blush formed in your cheeks.

She approached you carefully but with an amused smile.

"Are you okay, professor?" Her arms were positioned as if to catch you if you fell again.

"Yes, sorry" You held your swimming head. The wind kept howling around you and the burn on your cheeks only grew. Farah’s hair untied from the loose knot she wore and flew around her face.

"Mind stopping the wind?" That amused smile again.

"I c- can't" You said half mad, rolling your eyes and huffing.

"What do you mean?" You explained your situation to her. "Oh, darling" She cooed, a swift finger caressing your cheek before she looked for something inside her pocket. The wind only rose stronger and you prayed for the earth to swallow you as Farah looked around the hallway and raised an eyebrow. What was the stimulus? What was triggering your magic? "You sure you can't control it?"

"Yes. Just sedate me, please" You said defeated, offering your arm. You needed this to be over.

"I'm not sed-" She held your arm, ready to draw the rune that would stop your powers long enough for you to get fixed by Ben, an amazing invention for someone working with magical teenangers, and it just got worse. "Oh" She dropped your arm and the wind stopped, touched your shoulder and it rose again.

"Farah, please" You begged. You really didn't need her to be giving you that look in the middle of the school day. She smirked and held your arm again, drawing the rune and successfully stopping the small hurricane forming close to you.

Part of your energy dropped but you caught yourself this time, avoiding Farah’s worried eyes.

"Thank you" You said, tilting your chin up and moving to walk away from her, with as much pride as you had left. She caught your arm before you were two steps away from her. Fuck.

"Despite the fact that I find it endearing that you can't control your powers neither your emotions close to me, I need you to go with Ben, you can't be running around like this"

"I was going to Ben's"

"You were going to the suite" You tried to argue but she stopped you even before you started, raising a single finger and pointing around. "The suite is that way, Ben's is that one" She pointed in the opposite direction. You gave her your best puppy smile.

"Can't you make me better?" She tilted her head, and just like that, all faux behavior shared between both of you switched, Farah took a step closer to you and her eyes darkened, her arm slithered around your waist and pulled you close as yours rested on her collarbones, lips dropping to yours for three seconds that left you swooning.

"Go to Ben's" She whispered, caressing your nose with hers.

"Yes ma'am" You nodded, turning on your heels and making it the other way, you were a couple steps away when you turned around and skipped back to Farah, gave her a kiss on the cheek, and rushed away again. Her smirked switched to a soft smile as she shook her head and moved back to her classroom.

You met again when she joined you at Ben's about half an hour later. She walked in with a smile and a sandwich. You sat on the infirmary’s bed with your phone, your arm with an IV.

"That bad?" She asked, waving hello to Ben in the other room, taking her shoes off and moving to sit behind you on the bed, her back against the bed frame.

"Not that bad but it's gonna take a bit more time" You called as you moved to sit between her legs and rest against her body, soon enough being engulfed in her warmth and arms. Your head rested on her shoulder, she left a kiss on your brow and offered you the sandwich.

"It's gonna be okay" She whispered, noticing your uncomfortable feelings. Her lips stood against your brow and you closed your eyes.

"Still feels odd, I feel dumb" Your heart felt lighter after expressing it, it was an awful feeling to be outpowered by your students, even worse by one of their mistakes. You should be stronger than that, and should be able to protect them.

"Why on the Otherworld do you think that?" Farah held your shoulders and pulled you a little away, aiming to meet your eyes. You just pouted and she could see the tears forming in them. “Oh, love” You hid your face against her chest, hiding from the world. “It was an accident, there is no way you could have avoided it”

“Still feels bad to be out of control”

“I know.” There wasn’t much more to say, your feelings were valid, it wasn’t under your capacities to do something but seek help and you had every right to be upset. She rocked you lightly and pressed a kiss to your head “I know”.

By the time the IV had emptied you were asleep in Farah's arms, a small smile adorning your lips as you cuddled against the also slept woman that circled you protectively.
