Chapter Text
A small purple haired omega named Uki Violeta had finally finished cleaning up his little cafe he had opened not too long ago. It was just right by the outskirts of the town. Despite the location, it was popular especially amongst omega customers because they felt safe spending time there knowing the owner understood their struggles in fitting into the society where alphas dominated the area. Today was as normal as the others, Uki was sweeping the floor from any derbis or crumbs from the pie he made freshly baked daily. As he was about to put away the chair that Yugo had probably forgot to do, he noticed a large figure right outside the entrance of his cafe. Usually there would be customers who came very late just to buy his pastries and Uki was kind enough to let them buy it unless it was sold out. And today, the shelves were emptied due to the festive season. Fixing his small pink apron, Uki walked towards the door to notify his potential customer. But as soon as he took three steps ahead, he was shocked when the figure slumped over and laid flat on the pavement outside. Without a second thought, the omega rushed outside towards the man.
"Sir? Are you okay?", Uki called out as he tried to shake the man by the shoulders, to at least making sure he was not dead. That would be traumatizing.
After a few attempts to make the other to wake up, Uki sighed and decided to drag the man into his cafe after he felt a few light droplets on his face. Looking upwards, the sky was getting darker and he knew if he left this man outside, it would make everything worse. It took a while for the omega to get the man inside because their size differences was great. He had assumed this man is an alpha because there was no way an omega would let out such a strong scent of mint wood. And judging from this clothing, he looked like he came from a mafia movie. It didn't pass Uki's mind that the man he was with was one because that would mean that his luck is shit. Despite those thoughts, the omega was still determined to help the person no matter what. After it felt like forever, Uki managed to get the man to lay down on one of the sofas he got in the kitchen. He had it around because Yugo loved to play his guitar whenever there was a free time so he wanted to make him feel comfortable while doing so.
The omega looked down at the man and he just noticed how dashing he was, with his messy silver hair and that unique red tattoo that goes from his left eye to the side of his face. It really got his attention but he also noticed that he has been frowning for a while now. Uki inspected the man closer, feeling glad that he was still alive. He knelt down on the side of the sofa to look at the other closer and the next thing he noticed was a pair of pearl couloured eyes staring back at him. It took both of them a few seconds to realized what situation they were in. The omega backed up as soon as the other sat up quickly.
He just watched the alpha grabbing his head in pain and heard a small groan. Uki was not afraid of any alpha so he just watched him grabbing his stomach slowly when he heard a very faint growl. The smaller male only chuckled when he knew the other was hungry. So it took him a second to stand up and started to prepare whatever food he got in the cafe's fridge. He even heated up a cup of his special coffee to go with the meal.
"Where am I?", the silver haired male questioned, still too weak to move from the sofa.
"Uki's Cafe", the omega answered shortly as he cooked two slices of bacon for the light sandwich he decided to make for the man.
The alpha didn't say anything because his nose was too occupied with the smell of the bacon. His stomach too hungry to be mad at his own situation and his head too painful to pull out a gun towards the beautiful man in front of him. Wait... beautiful? The taller male started to grab his head further. His sickness must be playing with him and he was just hallucinating. His eyes followed to wherever Uki was going, wth the soft movement of his hand making the fluffy sandwich stacking it up with loads of ingredients. His mouth started to water at the sight. Not to mention the smell of the coffee that was too good to be true. He has been to many high class restaurants but he had never smelt such good aroma coming from the coffee made by a small cafe owner. There must be something to it than it meets the eyes. He was sure of it.
"Here you go, a special snack made by yours truly, Uki Violeta", the omega placed the cat-shaped plate in front of the alpha and placed the cup of coffee next to it.
The alpha glanced upwards making sure this pretty man was not trying to poison him. After a moment, he decided to take the sandwich and took a bite. The flavor surrounded his mouth almost immediately. Like a starving person, he started to gulp down the sandwiches in seconds. It was too good to be true. The taste was balanced and the amount of seasoning was perfect. It may be a simple snack but it was way better than the food his maids had made for him. Or even anywhere. He heard the omega chuckle again. Even that was beautiful. That small thought made the alpha choke on the food he was munching on. That was embarrassing, being a leader of a mafia getting flustered over an omega he just met.
Uki blinked his eyes a few times as he kept watching the man sipping on the coffee he prepared. A smile appeared on his face seeing the other's cute reactions. The way he gobbled up his food, enjoying it and drinking his coffee while having that mesmerized look in his eyes when he tasted it for the first time. Those reactions what made Uki to continue with his business. And with the customers kept going back for more, that made his dream owning a cafe became a success. Everything was paid and he was satisfied with how he lived his life so far. It's just that the pressure from his parents to getting married and finally settling down with someone made his stomach churn. His parents can pay him in any amount they want to, but there was no price that can make him change his mind into getting him putting a ring on his finger. He does want a child and a partner of his own but just not in the near future. Uki still has a lot to do and was emotionally unavailable after his last failed relationship that went back to two years ago. But with this fine man in his cafe, Uki might just rethink his choices.
"Ovid", the alpha spoke. He realized the omega snapped out of his deep thought when he started to fix the purple hairclip in his hair. Which was way too adorable.
"Excuse me?"
"Ovid. That's my name. I'm letting you know because you fed me and it was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life", the alpha smiled warmly. Of course he had to hide his first name to avoid the omega from getting to know his real name. There was no way the conversation would turn out normal if Uki realized he's a mafia. Not when his name was allover the newspaper. Thankfully the media only covered his first name, Fulgur. Only few people knew his last name, including this omega in front of him. What made him tell such information? Who knows. He just felt like it was the right thing to do so at that moment. His mind wanted the omega to know.
"Mr. Ovid. That's a nice name. There's a soft ring to it", Uki complimented. "If you didn't hear me earlier, my name's Uki Violeta", he held out a hand for a shake.
Fulgur gladly took his hand into his as they shook. It was the starting of something that will completely change their lives in the future. They were soulmates but they just had no idea at the moment, and this little meeting is something both of them will remember forever. Uki pulled away first before cleaning the empty plate at the sink. There were loads of questions he wanted to ask but he noticed the alpha was checking out his phone. And that small frown came back. It was probably about work, Uki sometimes would frown too whenever his heat is near and he had to close the cafe for a while. He loved his job a lot so having to take two weeks off every three months kills him everytime. But for alphas like Fulgur, it was probably stressful enough that he fainted. So Uki gave the other some time to finish his business before he can have another small talk. He was somewhat interested with this Ovid person. Despite being an alpha, Uki felt safe around him.
"Don't you want to go to the hospital? You even fainted. What happened?", Uki spoke when he saw Fulgur putting his phone down.
The alpha didn't answer for some time, thinking of an appropriate answer instead of telling the other that he barely got away from a gun fight when one of his henchmen betrayed him. After killing the betrayer, he busy 'cleaning out' his people that he forgot to eat for the whole day. So he decided to take a stroll outside and instructed his closest men, Sonny Brisko and Alban Knox to keep an eye at the clan for a while. He needed some time alone and he knows that the outskirts of town was the safest for him since no one really know that this area existed. But his tired body was slowly making him lose consciousness so the small faint smell of grapes and strawberry had led him towards Uki's cafe.
"It's fine, I was just hungry. Thank you for the meal, Violeta", Fulgur answered. But he knows this place very well, he just did not have the time to go around. Or more like omegas do not welcome alphas around here. So he had covered his scent with a special perfume that could help him cover his pheromones for a short time. It should last him for another ten hours and he knew Uki has no idea that he was an alpha. Which he was absolutely wrong on that one. Uki had known his second gender the second he held the man for the first time (more like dragging him-).
"Yeah, you sure was. Gobbling up my food like it was your last meal ", Uki chuckled again. Taking the man's answer as is, he didn't want to doubt the other and just let him be.
"It's rare for an alpha to be roaming around in this area. It's been a while since I last saw one. It's usually betas and omegas that comes here", Uki spoke as he pour another cup of coffee.
"Also you ought to control your pheromones. It'll scare omegas like me away if you used too much, you know", Uki exclaimed playfully. Obviously the omega was not scared at all but he was taken by surprise by the other's reaction.
When he glanced towards the taller male, Fulgur's eyes widened in shocked as if Uki had blurted out something extremely offensive. Wait, did he? Was telling an alpha to control their pheromones bad? Uki wanted to apologize but seeing the other started to smell his own body, from his forearm to his own shoulder. The smaller male was confused on what was going on. He was sure if Fulgur had not spoken any words after that bizarre reaction, Uki would have called the police on him. There must be something wrong with this alpha, he thought.
"Was I scammed?", Fulgur muttered to himself. Then he looked back at Uki which the omega flinched when he grabbed his hands. "How? How could you tell I'm an alpha? I used a special perfume to hide my scent and it has been going so well for years", the silver haired male exclaimed. But seeing the confused look on Uki and the way he was holding the other, Fulgur quickly removed his hand and excused himself for being rude.
"N-no, it's just that I could smell that mint wood from afar. Should I not have smelt it?", Uki closed his nose. "And plus, looking at your figure anyone could tell you're an alpha, silly".
"That's true but I have always been hiding my scent since forever. I'm afraid of scaring omegas that I interacted with so I took the initiative to hide mine first", the alpha explained gaining a surprised look from Uki. "This is the first time I've had an omega telling me what my scent is", he continued. His late grandmother used to tell him that he can hide his pheromones forever from everyone else but only your fated partner were able to tell you apart in the ocean of people.
'Consider yourself lucky, Fuu-chan. If a nice omega is able to tell your scent, you may have found your home', his grandma spoke softly, patting young Fulgur's head before she passed moments later. His family had always been hiding their superior alpha pheromone knowing it would be damaging when making connections with everyone. Knowing his bloodline had always been strong, they had created a very special perfume to be sold off to cancelling any pheromones, even the strongest ones. Their product had been sold worldwide and Fulgur was sure that the perfume he used was recently released. There was no way it could have failed as their product has always been in the highest quality. Unless...
"Are you my ma--", Fulgur almost finished his sentence when the door to the cafe opened. Taking both of their attention and the omega went towards the main door to check it out.
"Hello, sirs. Sorry but my cafe is closed. You can come back tomorrow", Uki exclaimed before he was rudely ignored by the man with bright yellow hair. Brighter than a highlighter, the omega thought to himself angrily. He crossed him arms when the taller male started to walk towards Fulgur to assist the man. The smaller male knew at that point that the man he just saved was no regular office worker or a CEO. They looked dangerous in his eyes and he calmly told himself he needs to see themselves out before anything happens.
"Sir, we have arrived", Sonny came in, alerted with the surrounding but did not pull out his gun as usual, as it was under Fulgur's instruction to not scare the person who saved him.
Another male in suit came by but instead going towards Fulgur, he went to Uki carrying a bag. It was a black suitcase, looking all expensive and scary. And Uki's little omega ass was terrified at the sight. He have seen so many movies about dangerous men in suits and he thought they were probably there to kill him for touching their boss. So doing whatever he remembered from the last movie he saw, he took the small tray nearby and started hitting the brown haired man with it. Again and again until the other let go of the suitcase.
"AH! SIR, THIS PERSON IS ATTACKING MEEE!!! ACK, IT HURTS! STOP IT!", Alban started to whine when Uki would not stop decking him with the tray.
"What's going on there?", Fulgur stood up after he was finished talking with Sonny. He had stopped the blonde man from stopping the scared omega who seemed so confident just a while ago talking to him.
"I don't know! He just hit me when he saw the suitcase. ahh!!", Alban could not handle all the abuse anymore so he went and ran to hide behind Sonny. He was sobbing like a little child as his partner patted his head to comfort him.
"Uki, I'm very sorry if my men scared you. But whatever you're thinking, it's not what it is in the suitcase. Those are just money-"
"It's a bomb, right? I watched the drama last night. Yeah, I know everything! You're trying to shut me up because you're gangsters!", Uki was about to hit Fulgur but instead he put it down and started to push them all out of his cafe. Even not listening to any explanation coming from the alpha, Uki was so sure they were there to kill him with bombs or threaten him with knives, or something closer to that! He was definitely not having it.
"Don't come back, you're not taking my cafe from me!", Uki exclaimed angrily from all the misunderstandings before closing and locking the door to his cafe.
Uki did not even spare a glance to the men outside who was basically staring back at him in confusion. With the sudden outburst of the gentle omega Fulgur had seen earlier, that made the mafia leader burst out in laughter. He even started to sound like a kettle, he was definitely amused with this omega he met. Still, he felt bad for startling him. His mate. That was the word he wanted to say to Uki but thankfully he did not finished it or it would have made the omega even more scared with the sudden confession. Yeah, he will take things slow. He was absolutely interested with this cafe owner and more so when he was the first one to guess his pheromone. He had met so many potential omegas to become his partner which he would never love in the end since it was an arranged marriage. But knowing this one would definitely get his parents' agreement, Fulgur had decided to pursue this omega. But of course he would hate to force it onto the other if he doesn't want it.
"Uki Violeta...", Fulgur mumbled to himself with a smile. He looked upwards after noticing the lights on the second floor lighted up. Well, at least now he knows where his mate is living. He then turned towards the car that was waiting right outside the cafe. It was a black limbo and Sonny had opened the door for their boss and Fulgur went in.
The trio drove away and once the sound of the car is fading away, Uki poked his head outside the window from the second floor. Making sure no one was nearby, he then went back in. The lights in the room was off and Uki got out of the cafe from the back and got onto his purple scooter. He wore his headgear before starting the engine. He then drove to another direction towards his real home. There was no way he was letting those gangsters know where he lives. He was definitely not stupid.
'Try to find me now, gangsters!', Uki thought victoriously.
