Unsuur opened up the Civil Corps storage, not expecting Captain to run in there. “Hey? Captain? What are you doing?”
He followed after the smoky gray cat, frowning as he did so. The cat went instantly to the corner of the room used for storage where the Civil Corps kept all of Sandrock ’s various holiday decorations before hunkering down as if he were about to attack.
“Something up, Captain?” Unsuur said, just as the cat pounced. He heard a squeak right before Captain came out proudly with what was a normal rat. “Ah. Good for you. Looks like Justice and I’ll need to go through these.” Unsuur let out a sigh, knowing it would take away from his patrol time while knowing it would need to be done. He shrugged his shoulders, deciding just to get it done.
A few hours later, “Unsuur?”
“I’m in here.”
“You weren’t where you usually were for patrol, so I got worried,” Justice said.
“Captain found rats in the holiday decorations,” Unsuur said. “We’ve almost got them taken care of.”
“I’ll put it away,” Justice said. “And I’ll check them for damage. You know that you didn’t have to do this alone, right?”
“Yeah, but someone had to remain on patrol,” Unsuur said. “Oh.” He then went to what he’d been putting into storage, putting it into the allotted space. “Almost forgot. Captain and I will return to patrol now.”
“You keep doing you, Unsuur,” Justice said.
