Even to this day, quirks are still a mystery. For one, creating clone copies of themselves, allowed a person to breathe underwater without air or rewind time at a certain amount of minutes.
For Izuku, he always wished to be a hero. He doesn’t care what quirk he gets, as long he gets one - any type of quirk.
As long as Izuku can remember the day he got his quirk. He was watching a cartoon from the pre-quirk era called ‘Scooby-Doo: Where Are You?’ On that fateful day, his mother made him watch old cartoons from the time where there were no quirks.
Little Izuku was watching the heroes running from the giggling green ghosts, while shivering in fear from the creepy laughter from the ghosts. Normally he would watch videos of All Might, but his mom wanted to cut his time watching All Might or heroes. So she made him watch videos with less violence.
The cartoon he is currently watching was once part of a larger cartoon franchise before the quirk era, where all media franchises including Scooby-Doo cease production indefinitely. He admits he was interested in solving mysteries like in the cartoon.
However, he wasn’t going to ask Kacchan to solve mysteries with him, as he got meaner to him recently after he got his quirk. Izuku wished that he had a nice friend like Scooby. Izuku’s eyes widened when he saw a scene involving a flying washing machine chasing the spooky villains.
He laughs when the ghosts go into the machine, catching them in the process. Izuku enjoyed moments of this cartoon, despite the fact that the villains are usually costume monsters to scare the heroes away.
As soon as the credits rolled, Izuku felt an icy cold shiver go through his whole body. Then the shiver disappeared, then he heard a voice.
“Rat rare re ratchting? (What are we watching)?” A familiar voice called.
“It’s an old cartoon called ‘Scooby-Doo Where Are You?’...” Izuku said, but he stopped and realized he wasn’t alone. His head turned to the voice and his eyes widened in shock of a familiar Grand Dane on his left.
“Hello!” The dog known as Scooby waved a paw at him.
It’s been ten years since Scooby appeared in his home, when the dog appeared Inko was shocked seeing the cartoon dog sitting with her son and took them to the doctor. Izuku learned that his dad’s family has a unique history with three members having a quirk that manifested into a single cartoon character, Izuku is the latest in the line to have it.
Izuku’s quirk is registered as Cartoon Dog with Scooby as his quirk. Due to Scooby being a dog, Izuku’s mom had to file for Scooby as a support animal so Scooby can follow Izuku around in places that don’t allow dogs.
Inko got Scooby a blue collar similar to the one seen in the cartoon, for he hadn’t one when Scooby appeared. Izuku managed to find a dog tag (the same one Scooby has on his collar in the cartoons) for Scooby to complete the look.
Izuku wrote a notebook about Scooby to keep track of his friend. During his research Izuku noticed Scooby’s voice and appearance is identical to the first incarnation of Scooby-Doo, but he has an unusual ability he dubs as toon physics like one time Scooby ate a large amount of food at his school without showing any signs of weight.
Once the final bell rang, Izuku and Scooby ran out from the classroom to avoid Kacchan’s wrath. In the past Izuku showed Scooby to everyone at school and explained that he is his quirk, but Kacchan called Izuku’s quirk boring/lame. Soon Izuku was bullied by Kacchan and his goons, however there were a number of kids who defended him. (However, Izuku knows the real reason why they step in; mostly they want to befriend Scooby. Doglovers)
Scooby had a good friend to him. Whenever Kacchan tried to hurt him, Scooby would lift him with his front legs and run on two feet similar to a person running. Despite the fact that he’s functioning like a quirkless person, he wouldn’t let that hold him back from becoming a hero…
But for now…
“I think we lost him.” Izuku said, breathing heavily with Scooby behind him panting for air.
“Rook! Rook Ruku! Rook! (Look! Look Izuku! Look!)” Scooby tugging his outfit and pointing at the gate, Izuku sees Kacchan storming out of the building with his lackeys close behind him.
“You two! Find Deku and Mutt that way! I’ll go this way!” The blonde boy yelled at the duo as they ran off in different directions
“Ret’s ret rout rof here! (Let’s get out of here!)” Scooby suggested.
“Right Scooby!” Izuku agreed as the pair run off down the streets with Scooby’s ears perked up when he heard Bakugou let out a yell of frustration
After a short while, Izuku and Scooby find themselves in an empty street. “Re rost Rakugou, Ruku. (We lost Bakugou, Izuku.)” Scooby said.
“Thank goodness…” Izuku whispered under his breath, before letting out a sigh of relief. He was thankful he builded up his running endurance over the years, mostly due to Scooby’s habit of running away from trouble.
However he heard a growl and looked at Scooby, realized the sound came from his stomach. “Ri’m hungry, Ruku. (I’m hungry, Izuku.)” Scooby sheepishly said, holding his front legs on stomach.
Izuku smiled at him. “Want a Scooby Snack?” He took out a box of said snacks from his backpack and got a bone-like biscuit in hand.
“Ruh-huh.” The brown dog eagerly responded as Izuku tossed it at Scooby and he caught the treat with his mouth.
Izuku loved Scooby as his best friend, but the dog has a big appetite which is a problem with their food budget. Lucky for him, his mother managed to afford a special substance that made any food taste like a big buffet and cook-up a recipe dubbed “Scooby Snacks” to ease his friend’s appetite.
Izuku noticed something shining on the ground and walked towards it. He bent down and picked it up, in his hand was a shiny dollar coin from the US. “Rat’s ra riny rion! (That a shiny coin!)” Scooby remarked, seeing the light reflecting from the coin.
“It’s an American dollar coin, Scooby.” Izuku said. He gave the coin a curious look, since this type of coin is very rare. Throughout he was appealed by the shine reflecting from it. Before he say any word, a loud yell spooked them with Scooby jumping into Izuku’s arms
“DEKU!” Bakugou shouted, he angrily stomped the ground.
“Hey Kacchan…” Izuku nervously said.
“I’m going to kill you Deku! Your Mutt made a sandwich with my application for UA and ate it!” The blonde angrily shouts while Scooby makes a mischievous laugh. Izuku recalled Scooby made a sandwich with liverwurst and Kacchan’s application, which he believed at the time was a weird looking mozzarella cheese.
Izuku gulped in fear as the ash blonde started walking closer to them, but stopped when he noticed something in his hand.
Bakugou narrowed his eyes on the coin. “”Give it to me, Deku.” He threateningly said, his hands sparked with bits of fire.
“Scooby?” Izuku said.
“Reah? (Yeah?)” Scooby replied.
“RUN!” Izuku screamed. Scooby jumped off from his arms and the two ran off from the scene, leaving Bakugou behind.
Izuku and Scooby-Doo are the fastest runners in their neighborhood, mostly because they run in the same style of Scooby and Shaggy when being chased by monsters.
“I wouldn’t let you two get away from me!” Bakugou screamed, using his quirk to catch-up with them.
“Yelp!” Izuku shouts and Scooby howls in fear before they run off with great speed.
Despite being chased by Bakugou for nearly twenty minutes, the ash blonde is still determined to catch them.
“Scooby! Do something!” Izuku yelled.
Scooby suddenly remembered something before he ran up to Izuku’s backpack and started digging inside it for whatever reason.
“Huh?” Izuku noticed Scooby searching in his backpack and heard the zipper closing.
Scooby ran up in front of Izuku with a banana in his paw. “Ranana. (Banana,)” Scooby said.
“Why did you need it?” Izuku is dumbfounded why Scooby has his snack, he saved for later.
Scooby didn’t say anything, just unpeel the banana. He ate the inside and tossed the peel on the ground, where they made a turn at a corner. Bakugou blind in his rage, didn't notice it, until he stepped on the peel and caused him to crash into trash bins.
Izuku and Scooby winced as they saw Bakugou crash, with him sitting in one of the bin and a lid on his head.
Once they arrived home, Izuku shut the door behind him. “That was a close time.” He quietly said with Scooby chuckling.
“Thanks Scooby.” Izuku smiled at his dog before petting him on the head. Normally he wouldn’t approve of Scooby’s actions against his former best friend (Scooby once switched his notebook with a mouse trap, when Bakugou tried to burn it. Only for the trap to snap on the hand), he can make an exception.
Scooby knocks Izuku onto his back and starts licking his face, making Izuku laugh. “Stop Scooby! It tickles!” He said, while laughing. “You really are a boy’s best friend!”
Scooby stopped licking Izuku and sat up, he howled a familiar catchphrase. “SCOOBY-DOOBY-DOO”
Izuku’s dream of being a great hero like All Might shined blighty for him and he isn’t alone with his best friend helping him. A dog named Scooby-Doo.
Omake: What if Nomu has a cotton candy quirk.
Shigaraki was angry - no, furious! Not only he didn’t kill All Might, but he lost Nomu to that brat and his dog!
“Oh Tomura, I see your mission in killing All Might went unsuccessfully?” His sensei spoke from a TV.
“Those heroes ruined everything! I lost all my minions!. He spat out venomously, his fingers twitched in hatred, wanting to kill someone. “Especially, I lost Nomu to that medding brat and his pesky dog!”
“Enlighten me.” Sensei sounded a bit curious, wondering what made his student very angry.
“Things went south, when Nomu used that cotton candy quirk!” Shigaraki scowled. “Then that dog ruined everything!”
“What did this animal do?” This made AFO more curious of how a dog beat a weapon designed to beat All Might.
“He ate Nomu!” Shigaraki shouted.
“Wait, what?” AFO said in disbelief.
Earlier that day…
“Nomu has a Cotton Candy quirk! He can turn into cotton candy and reform his body!” The hand villain screams with sadistic glee. “You can’t beat him!”
The piles of cotton candy reform into a cotton pink of the monstrous creature after an explosion from Bakugou forced it to turn into cotton candy. Izuku got into a fighting position with Scooby shaking in fear hiding him.
“With Cotton Candy! Not even All Might can beat him.” Shigaraki smiles with victory in hand, but his smile fades when he notices a student with his dog.
“Cotton Candy Quirk?” Izuku and Scooby said at the same time that Scooby sounded scared at first, before his voice changed in tone.
“Yes, you can’t beat Nomu with explosions, fire or ice. As long as there's cotton candy, Nomu can regenerate any lost limb! ” He smirked with Nomu menacingly looking at the pair.
He was expecting them to fear, but he noticed Izuku looked at Nomu with fear in eyes. Izuku wasn’t scared of Nomu, was scared for Nomu.
Then everyone in the surrounding area heard a chorus start chanting “HALLELUJAH!”. Scooby looks at Nomu, he starts clapping his paws and laughing in glee, licks his mouth while looking at the pink monster with pure hunger in his eyes.
Shigaraki watched in disbelief as he saw Nomu recoil in fright from the look Scooby is giving it, which ironically terrified it.
“YAAHHH!” Scooby shouts, he jumps at Nomu, tackling it to the ground.
“Nomu! NO!” Shigaraki screamed in horror.
“Scooby! Don’t!” Izuku shouted, however Scooby was too busy devouring the creature.
Students like Bakugou and Todoroki watched in horror at seeing a dog eating a monster in front of them. Aizawa looked in disbelief as the problem child’s pet was eating a creature alive, normally he could keep his cool but this time it broke him. All Might's jaw dropped at the sight of his successor’s beloved dog eating the creature made to kill him, he was aware the dog has a big appetite. But he never saw it to this extent.
As soon the sounds of chewing and munching are gone. Scooby was lying on his back with his legs sticking up and his huge belly bulging in the spot that Nomu once stood on. Scooby was cleaning his teeth with one paw before he noticed everyone was looking at him.
Scooby let out a big burp. “Rexcuse re! (Excuse me!)” Scooby said in satisfaction before he giggled.
After the ordeal, Scooby was taken to see Recovery Girl (Who happens to be a veterinarian, due to a certain rodent.) Lucky for Izuku, Scooby's belly is filled with cotton candy. It seems that the Nomu’s didn’t return to normal, due to Scooby eating the creature’s head first. Fortunately for them, the police rule that Scooby eating the Nomu as an act of self-defense. Nezu made everyone who watched Scooby eating see Hound Dog for mandatory therapy and the students of 1A kept their distance away from Scooby for a while, not wanting to be next on the menu.
