He could barely breathe. Drowning in his own feelings. The feeling of Regulus' arms surrounding him, of Regulus' lips on his neck, of Regulus' tongue in his mouth... He was addicted to this feeling. Addicted to Regulus. He knew it was bad, he knew Regulus was his best mate's brother, but nothing could stop him.
- "Bloody hell! What the fuck are you doing? Are you mental? Stop it-stop-stop it now!"
Maybe someone could stop him...
Sirius intervened between them before James could even say anything.
- "What the-"
- "Sirius don't start to make a sce-"
- "Reggie you shut the fuck up! Prongs, what the hell were you doing? You-you don't..."
- "Don't tell me to shut up."
Sirius ignored his brother and placed himself protectively in front of him, face to face with Potter who was terrified.
- "I'm sorry mate, I-"
- " 'Mate'? You call me mate now? You were fucking snogging my brother, and you call me mate?"
- "Okay, I'm sorry-I'm sorry I shouldn't have, It-"
James Potter's legendary confidence was falling apart, which was probably the first time in his entire life, and he started to stutter nonsense things.
- "It's not that-that I don't...I mean yeah-but no. And you're-you're my brother and he is...he is...he is so pretty you know...no, I mean yes but no...that's not...he is your brother but we don't-he doesn't ugh..."
- "James, you don't have to-"
- "Didn't I told you to shut up Reggie?"
- "You're not our mother!"
- "Obviously not because if I was, you would be long dead by now!"
Regulus gasped and was going to reply when Remus hastily appeared.
- "What's going on in here? Are you guys okay?"
- "No! Kill me now Moony, I beg you! James was snogging my baby brother!"
- "Really?" Remus asked, breaking into a grin and looking at James.
- "You're kidding me? Don't smile! This...it is awful!"
- "Why is everyone yelling?"
- "Peter! James snogged my baby brother!"
Regulus sighed, now Sirius' entire stupid friend group knew about it.
James, him, wasn't paying much attention to them, he was focused on Sirius. He never argued with him before, Remus and Peter did, but not him. James had always been the special one, the only one Sirius listened and never got angry with.
There was a silence and no one knew what to do because they'll risk their lives if they tried to talk to Sirius. But at this point, James was desesperate enough to try.
- "Padfoot...I-I am truly sorry, I don't know what to say...."
- "Why did you do that?"
Everyone was expecting from Sirius to yell after Potter, but he didn't, he asked softly and it made James feel even worse.
- "Why did you do that?" He repeated. "You are my best mate, why did you do that to my brother? And he is...he is so...so innocent and you-you just snog him and you're not even gay, why? I don't get it...it's just cruel, it's-"
- "Who told you I wasn't gay?"
His three friends glanced at him in surprise.
- "...you are?" Remus asked.
- "I am not gay... Muggles call it pansexual. Few know this in the Wizarding world but it means I can love men and women in the same way."
- "Why didn't you tell us?"
- "Sorry Pete, I was going to... I also was going to tell you about Reggie and i but-"
- "Reggie and you? What do you mean? There's no Reggie and you. You are not..or- wait, it happened multiple times?!"
James blinked stupidly and looked at Regulus.
He knew he fucked up.
- "You should probably run."
- "Run now" Sirius added. "or I swear to Merlin, I am going to kill you Potter."
Potter did. He knew he had to if he wanted to feel Regulus' lips on his again.
Sirius ran after him. They crossed the dorm and arrived in the common room where James was trying to survive by dodging the spells Sirius was putting on him.
- "Should we help him?" Peter asked.
- "Naah, we should let them solve their problems on their own."
Regulus agreed with Remus and the three of them just sat in the couch and enjoyed the show.
- "Sirius please-Ouch! It hurts! Please...listen to me!"
- "Never!"
- "For Merlin sake Sirius stop it!"
- "I'll stop when you'll stop seeing my fucking brother!"
- "Never!"
- "Then you're dead Potter!"
- "Why? It isn't fair!"
- "Oh heck...I wish I gave a fuck!"
They continued fighting for a long time after that, Peter even brought snacks for them to eat in case they missed dinner.
At the end they were both really tired and Sirius collapsed on the couch.
- "Kill me James, it'll be faster."
- "Oh stop being so dramatic Sirius..." Regulus hissed.
Sirius flips him off and turned his head towards James.
- "Why won't you stop seeing my brother?"
- "Uh..."
- "You like him more than me now? I'm not your soulmate anymore?"
Regulus rolled his eyes, Sirius had always been so jealous...
- "I would never, and of course you're still my soulmate." James assured.
- "Er Sorry ?!" Regulus interrupted, almost spitting out his pumpkin juice.
- "I-I'm sorry Reggie but it's just... Sirius is my best mate, he is the brother I always wanted. You know that, right Sirius? You have a place in my heart that no one else can take."
- "Then why won't you to stop seeing my brother if you like me more?" Sirius asked incredulously, which made him look like a child.
- "Sirius I...I am in love with Regulus".
Reggie's glass slipped from his hand and explode on the floor. He blushes and stared at James, feeling like his heart was about to explode too.
- "Oh did I forgot to mention that, love?" James asked with a smirk, getting closer to him.
- "Oh slowly Prongs, it's too soon for me to see that." Sirius said, grabbing James' arm so he can't get closer to his brother.
James laughed, followed by all the boys.
- "Well if you really love him -even if I don't get why, he is so annoying- I suppose I should let you be happy with him..."
- "You almost looked mature..." Regulus scoffed.
After that, they spent the rest of the afternoon in the empty common room. James and Regulus stayed quite far from each other because Sirius might be okay with their relationship, he wasn't ready yet to see them cuddle like a couple.
It was late and the tiredness started to overwhelmed them all.
- "James, promise me you will never hurt my baby brother."
- "You don't have to protect me Sirius, and don't call me your 'baby brother'."
- "Yes i have. So? Promise me Prongs." Sirius insisted
- "Promise me that you'll kill me if I do." James answered.
- "With pleasure." Sirius replied and winked.
Regulus rolls his eyes, though James couldn't have given a better answer.
- "It's getting late, I'm going back to my own dorm."
- "I take you there." James offered gently.
- "Don't you dare. I'll do it. I'm still his big brother."
James grinned, amused. The next few days were going to be just as strange as this but he couldn't be happier about it.
