Work Text:

“Ma’am I can’t just turn chicken tenders into mozzarella sticks-” Tommy said before being cut off.

“Just give me that guy’s mozzarella sticks he ordered and make him new ones!” The angry customer said.

“The problem is he didn’t order mozzarella sticks he ordered-”

“JUST GIVE ME HIS MOZZARELLA STICKS!”

— — —

“I do like the color pink.” Tommy said.

“You do? My mama said it's for girls-?” A small boy said as he was being watched by Tommy due to his mom having to go to the bathroom.

“Everyone’s allowed to like pink. Your mom just wasn’t taught that, but I hope you know that. You know that right?”

“...Yeah. Thank you!”

— — —

“Did you know 100 years ago only rich people owned cars and everyone owned horses but now it's the opposite?” A 12 year old boy told him as he was giving him some chicken nuggets.

“I’m too tired for this.” Tommy sighed.

“Did you know-”
“Bud- leave the poor waiter alone.”

“Aweeeee- but mom-”

— — —

“Hey Tom’s! How’s work going?” Puffy asked, walking into the restaurant.

Tommy turned around and gave her the most deadpan stare he could muster in his tired state.

“Normal?”

“…Yeah.”

— — —

“How many?” Tommy asked, not bothering to look up.

“Just me.” A woman, late forties- maybe early fifties, said.

“Oh, want to be sat at the- the- the-...uh” Tommy started but struggled to find the right wording.

“Yes.” She said, barely missing a beat.

“Okay-” Tommy replied, sending a confused look at the woman.

— — —

Tommy let out a sigh, his break was almost here. Just out of reach.

DING!

…and a new table came in. Great.

He let out a sigh as he put on his customer service face.

“Hello! Welcome to McPuffy’s, what can I do for you today?”

“I’d like a table for four, please.” A tired looking dad surrounded by three identical looking children that were clearly loud.

“Alrighty.” He said checking off a table on the chart and grabbing four menus.

“Right this way sir.” He said, guiding them to a corner booth, hoping they wouldn’t interrupt the whole restaurant.

He looked at the clock and immediately rushed to clock into his break after informing the other waiter on duty.

He walked over to the break room couch and promptly collapsed.

– –

“Tommy! Wake up it's my turn to pass out- oh and you’ll never believe what that table with triplets did to me-” The person ranted shaking him.

“Hm?” He said getting up and wondering over the check in sheet.

“Okay so I went over to the table to ask what drinks they want and there were only three people above the table- and I asked if the two kids above the table were twins and then suddenly a kid came out from under the table and said ‘well yer were close’ and started doing- like- ninja moves.” They ranted non-stop.

“I believe that- now take your nap. I’m assuming the table is eating by now?” Tommy said, used to the person's rants.

“Yeah they are.” They mumbled before face-planting on the couch.

“Hm.” He said going back out to wait on the tables.
— — —

“That will be $39.55 Ma’am.” Tommy said in the most bored voice he could manage.

“You look like you don’t wanna be here.” One of the people at the table said, giving him their credit card.

“Very observant.” He said, swiping their card.

The table was soon filled with laughter at his response and he let out a sigh of relief at the fact they have humor.

— — —

“Sir- sir you can’t just point your cosplay sword at me and demand dino nuggets-” Tommy started, backing up a little in the process.

“Give me your NUGGETS-”

“Why is Puffy always gone when the insane people are here-”

— — —

“Alrighty, ready to order?” Tommy asked, holding a paper and pen in hand.

“Yes, but I have a question- does the turkey sandwich have turkey on it?”

What the fuck?

“No, it's tofu.” Tommy responded sarcastically.

“Oh, then I’ll take that-!”

What the fuck?

“I was joking it's a turkey sandwich- of course it has turkey!” Tommy said, clearly too tired for this.

“What? This is the most disrespected I have ever been in my entire life- how dare you?” The women ranted, clearly angry.

“Please… just order. Please.”
