Chapter 1: Midgard Here We Come

Chapter Text

Walking up to the Avengers Tower, I was a little scared, okay I was a lot scared. By the time I made it to the door to Mr. Stark's office, I was a bit frazzled. I knocked and a handsome man with blond hair and blue eyes answered the door. "Oh I'm sorry ma'am! I didn't mean to startle you! " The man apologized. I smiled slightly. "It's okay.." I said. "Well ma'am, I'm Steve Rogers, lovely to meet you." he said smiling. He held his hand out. "Nice to meet you Mr. Rogers, I'm Iona." I replied, shaking his hand.

He just stood there looking at me, so I pointed inside. He jumped slightly then moved aside. I stepped inside as Steve walked away. "Mr. Stark?" I said shyly. "Hmm? Oh yeah, Iona, right?"Mr. Stark asked. I nodded. He looked up at me. "Do I know you?" he asked. "You know someone I'm very close to, Thor." I replied. He nodded, "Ah! He told me that he is your uncle." he exclaimed. As I went to settle in the chair Mr. Stark offered I heard familiar footsteps. "Iona!" Thor exclaimed pulling me in for a bone-crushing hug when I stood to greet him. "Hello! Oh, I apologize Mr. Stark, how rude of me-" I replied. "Please, Iona, call me Tony." Mr. Stark said behind me. I gave a nod with a polite smile.

"Would you like to have lunch with me?" Thor asked. I looked to Tony, "I should spend some time getting used to the city." Tony waved a hand at me, "I can have you escorted around later, go catch up."

In the cafeteria, we got our food and sat at a table in the corner. "Uncle?" "Yes, child?" "Why am I here on Midgard? Should I not be with our people?" Thor sighed, "I have not been fully honest with you." I leaned back in my chair, "What do you mean?" He led me to a room down a long hall before stopping in front of a thick metal door "Uncle? What is going on?" I asked. My dear uncle took a deep breath and swung the door open. Sitting primly at a small table was Loki, folding paper into little animals. He looked up, meeting my eye, "Ah, you brought her!" "What is happening right now?" I asked looking between the brothers "You are the child of my brother," Thor sighed again. Loki can't be my father, I'm an orphan taken in by the eldest of the Asgardian princes. "No. No. No. No!" I shook my head running away despite Thor trying to call me back.

When they found me finally, I was crying slumped against the wall of an empty room. I don't remember falling asleep, but apparently I had worn myself out. I was taken up to my uncle's room to cool off before dinner that evening. I was not speaking to Thor throughout the rest of the night. I was given my own room within the tower, bare but nice nonetheless.

" I love you, Iona," Thor said from my doorway as I was settling in for the night. I sighed, "I love you too." He kissed me on the head before closing the door and turning the lights off.
