Work Text:
Occasionally Castiel needs more room to stretch. His vessel would grow confining after a while. He longs to fill space, let his multiple heads look around at the world he protects.
On days where he itches to get out of his skin Castiel locks himself in a room in the bunker and takes on his true form. Impossibly large with more eyes than any one creature has and wings, or rainbow light, Castiel takes to the sky and flies. There’s something so freeing about moving through the clouds. He can forget all of his mistakes and regrets and just be. Spotting the ocean below Castiel dives down, faster than any craft made by man, he plunges into the water.
Castiel feels more at home in the water than he ever does in his vessel. This strange dark world reminds him of space, he always enjoyed trips to space. He glides past a stingray and spins, swimming back to swim with the creature for a moment. Castiel dives deeper, the creatures growing more alien as he defends. He settles on the ocean floor and fluffs his wings, stirring up sediment and nutrient rich matter from the floor for the deep sea dwelling creatures. A goblin shark swims past him and Castiel grabs a creastation from off the ocean floor and offers it to the creature. Gabriel made them and Castiel has always been fond of the strange looking fish. He pats it head and stretches out, floating in the deep, dark water.
Distantly he hears Dean praying. Castiel shoots upwards, towards the surface of the water. Within moments he is back in his vessel and out of his chair. He opens the door and walks down the hallway to find Dean.
