Work Text:
Yoohyeon let out a sigh.
“Gosh Yooh stop staring at her.” Bora rolled her eyes at her friend, who had been staring at a pretty blonde across their table. Yoohyeon couldn’t help herself but to stare at the beauty ever since she entered the bar with her friends.
“I’m not staring.” Yoohyeon tried to defend herself, while she knew that she indeed stared at the blonde.
Like, how could she not? The blonde across their table was extremely hot. She wore a long sleeved white shirt with black crop top. Her crop top matched her shorts with white doodles of skulls and other symbols on them. Her makeup was on point with her smokey eye look, and Yoohyeon could easily say that the blonde was a natural beauty even without makeup. A beautiful shiny silver choker adorned her neck with a loose necktie on top. Then there was the lip piercing between her luscious lips and Yoohyeon couldn’t help herself but to imagine how her lips must have felt like between hers.
In other words, she had it bad.
It made her feel a little underdressed, with only wearing a simple white t-shirt and simple ripped black jeans. Usually Yoohyeon liked to dress comfortably and it’s their usual bar they go to, so they are used to dressing up more casually. But it didn’t mean that she didn’t take care of herself. Her brown hair itself didn’t make her stand out, but her shirt allowed her arms to show off. Her arms are filled with beautiful tattoos. The tattoos are her pride as a tattoo artist and as a tattoo shop owner.
Some say she doesn’t fit into the image of a tattoo artist which made the brunette annoyed, when people think of a completely tattooed person as a tattoo artist. That’s such a bad stereotype. Tattooing and tattoos are art and every tattoo artist has their unique specialities and fine art tattoos were Yoohyeons.
The brunette seemed to be a very confident person, which she mostly was but not this time. The blonde was just too gorgeous for Yoohyeon to even move an inch closer to talk to her.
Yoohyeon felt herself checking the blonde hottie out again. She subconsciously started to bite her lower lip, completely forgetting that she was in a room filled with people and her friends, talking to her. A light smack on her arm interrupted her thoughts.
“Gosh, stop drooling, just go talk to her. You’re not even listening to us,” Gahyeon suggested, already annoyed that her friend seemed to be only focusing on the blonde a few tables away.
“I’m not drooling, Gahyeon,” Yoohyeon defended herself .
“Oh come on, you’ve been staring at her the whole time and constantly try to get a sneaky view of her ever since they entered the bar. Just go talk to her before she leaves.” Dawon suggested as he finished his last sip of beer.
“Yep, just go for it, or else you would end up as a forever single like Gahyeon,” Bora added laughing.
“Hey, that’s not fair, let me out of this conversation, you’re all also single too.” Gahyeon stopped talking when she saw the friends from the mysterious blonde standing up to leave.
“Yoohyeon, that’s your chance to talk to her. Go for it, before you regret it. Let us handle the bill, you didn’t drink anything anyway” Bora said as she pushed Yoohyeon to stand up and go them.
“But what if she’s not single or into women?” Yoohyeon felt more insecure than ever. Looking at the blonde hottie sure left a big impact on her.
“For god’s sake, just go talk to her, or you will never know the answers to your questions. We will leave shortly after you. You don’t need to worry about us,” Bora rolled her eyes, slowly losing patience with her friend.
“Okay, okay. I will so chill.”
Yoohyeon took all her courage as she slowly followed the group outside. To her luck they all seem to spread or took their taxis except the blonde, who caught her interest. It seemed like it was her lucky day.
She didn’t want to seem like a weird person and decided to wait a few moments, before she would go talk to the blonde. The blonde hottie seemed to wait for someone or something as she kept switching her focus from her phone to the street.
It seemed like she waited for a bit too long, when she spotted her friends behind her.
“Gosh, Yooh. Just go talk to her. You seem like a creep staring at her from such a short distance. Don’t worry, you’re looking hot as hell with your new added eyebrow slit,” Yubin gave Yoohyeon a short encouragement and gave her a small push towards the blonde.
As her friends left, she knew she had to give it a shot or else she would deeply regret it. When will she ever be able to spot such a hottie and ask her out? Maybe never again.
“Sup, cutie. Wanna ride ?”
Yoohyeon could have slapped herself, after those words left her mouth. How could she say something that stupid.
The blondes eyes slowly returned her gaze before they slowly moved downwards and up again, checking her out. Yoohyeon didn’t know what to do or say till the eyes met hers.
“No, thanks, I’m waiting for my taxi.”
The reply was short and cold. It felt like a direct shot into her heart, breaking it into millions of pieces.
“Are you sure? My car is parked across the street. This way you don’t need to wait for the taxi to arrive and before you ask, I didn’t drink anything. I’m not much of a drinker,” Yoohyeon felt the urge to ask again not because her ego was hurt but to clarify that she didn’t drink anything. They still were in a bar before, and no one wants to drive with a stranger who could have possibly drank something before.
She still felt the intensive glare from the blonde. She couldn’t deny that the glare was extremely hot, but the other part was scared for another rejection. But at least she could tell her friends that she tried her best.
“Still a no, thank you,” the blonde replied, seemingly annoyed by the brunette. Yoohyeon could see how she rolled her eyes when she replied.
Yoohyeon wanted to say more but before a word could leave her mouth she saw a taxi approaching and halting directly in front of the blonde.
To her surprise, the blonde looked at her before entering the taxi and replied in a bit softer voice, “Have a safe drive home.”
In her car, Yoohyeon felt the sadness and the disappointment overflowing her body. She blamed herself for using such a bad pickup line for the goddess.
“Well, I guess it will be just me, myself and I again,” she muttered to herself as she started her car.
She didn’t care to play some music through her phone and decided to listen to the radio. Not even caring what they’re about to play. Or that’s what she thought.
It all ended when the radio station decided to play lonely by 2ne1.
“Baby, I’m so lonely, lonely, Lonely, lonely, lonely~”
Yoohyeon groaned in frustration, as she turned the radio off, “Thank you really. Even the radio channel decided to make me feel bad.”
Back home, she texted her friends in the group chat, that she was unsuccessful with asking the hot blonde out. She didn’t wait for her friend's reply, knowing all too well that they would just tease her for that.
Yoohyeon decided to take a shower and just went to sleep. She knew all too well that she would use Sunday to just lay in bed and watch movies to make herself better before she had to work again on Monday. As the Sundays passed by she hoped that she could forget the blonde with a relaxing carefree work day.
A relaxing work day was nothing but a dream. The day started as bad as a Monday could get.
The working day started wonderfully with Jackson, a tattoo artist in Yoohyeon’s studio, telling her that one machine broke, which would be pricey to replace and she herself had bad client after bad client.
The exhaustion and the annoyance was written all over her face.
Her first client was a real drama Queen and asked her to redo the stencil more than six times. She kept asking for constant minimal changes and in the end chose the first version, making Yoohyeon’s work unnecessary. Sometimes you just have bad clients. That is what you need to accept when you work with people and stay as professional as possible, but this client was just ungrateful and impolite. She was too persistent and kept talking down to Yoohyeon.
The next client was an older man who tried to hit on her while she tattooed him and even tried to show pics of his son. At least she got him all quiet when she finally shut him up by telling him that she wasn’t into men, as she did the last few touch ups. Luckily he stopped talking to her after she mentioned her preference and didn’t continue to insist on meeting his son.
Some of her colleagues overheard that he said something bad about her and her studio when he left, but what could she do? She just did her job and left a note, for not letting him enter again.
Her last client canceled her appointment last minute. She knew it could happen but on such a bad day it made the day feel even worse.
Yoohyeon was glad that she could take a break after rescheduling another appointment with the client. Being a tattoo artist and working with so many people can be exhausting at times, even when you love the job.
The brunette saw the positive side of the cancellation and walked into her office to make a small break before she needed to continue to do some paperwork and recharge her social battery.
That was what she thought she could do till Seonghwa, one of her workers, came into her office, asking her for a favor.
“Hey Yoohyeon, a client just walked in and asked for two tattoos on the smaller side. She has everything prepared for it. Do you want to tattoo her after your last client needed to cancel their appointment?”
Still feeling slightly fatigued, she still decided to talk to the client. She needed to talk to them and see what they planned for either tattooing them now or scheduling an appointment.
The moment she walked out of her office, she knew that destiny played with her.
Right before her in the waiting area sat the blonde from Saturday evening, that she tried to hit on with the worst possible pickup line.
Yoohyeon instantly wanted to dig her grave out of embarrassment, but she needed to be professional.
With another deep breath, she announced her arrival.
“Hey, my colleague told me that you wanted to get a tattoo done and already prepared a design. Is that right?”
It seemed like the woman was a bit too stunned to speak. Clearly recognizing the brunette from the evening at the bar.
„I-yes that’s right,” she answered a bit phased from Yoohyeons presence as she stood up. “I actually wanted to make an appointment, but they told me I could get it done by today if I had the time. Is it true?“ The blonde asked slightly unsure how Yoohyeon would react. While Yoohyeon found herself falling again listening to the soothing voice from the blonde that she couldn’t catch the evening before when she used a harsher tone to reject her.
"Ah, yes. My last client canceled at the last minute, so depending on what motive you want, we may make it possible today. If you’re up for it, of course.”
Yoohyeon tried not to stare at the blonde too much, but she just looked too irresistible in more casual daily clothes. She also thought that the blonde looked a bit softer due to her lighter makeup. Her outfit was also on the simpler side but still stunning with the boyfriend jeans and a black knitted shirt with a black crop top underneath it. Yoohyeon had to control herself after noticing how her eyes lingered on the blonde a bit longer than they should have.
She should stay professional even with being attracted to the blonde and tried
to shake all her feelings away as best as she could.
To her luck the young woman didn’t notice the inner conflict Yoohyeon had or the lingering stares she gave her.
Without much talking they went to Yoohyeon’s table, starting to discuss what the blonde wanted to get tattooed.
After they sat down to talk about the blonde's idea of the tattoo, Yoohyeon got to know that the young woman’s name was Kim Minji. She had to admit that such a beautiful and gorgeous woman could only have such a beautiful name as hers.
Minji wanted to get two tattoos done. The first one directly surprised her because it was a neck tattoo. A neck tattoo is very painful and Minji did look like a person with no tattoo experience. It wasn’t usually a first choice but after asking her if she was sure, she got to know that the blonde had a few tattoos that are not too visible in daily life. Now Yoohyeons heart beat again after hearing that she had some tattoos hidden and felt the urge to see and find them all, but she had to calm down her thoughts.
Minji wanted the words ‘FOR EVER’ tattooed on her neck in a thin font. At this moment Yoohyeon wondered if the blonde knew that she was specialised in fine line work or if she just walked into the tattoo parlor without knowing who would tattoo her.
The second tattoo was the one Seonghwa mentioned to be already designed. It was a beautiful drawing of wild flowers with some sun flowers in them. Minji wanted to have it on her forearm. The drawing was carefully done with each stroke that Yoohyeon had to ask who drew it, it was truly an amazing piece of art. To her surprise the blonde only replied that a very special person drew it for her and that was the reason she had such deep meaning for her.
Of course such a beautiful young woman like her had a significant other. How could she not, Yoohyeon thought.
No wonder she reacted like she did when Yoohyeon tried to hit on her.
As the documents were settled like the price and Minji signed them, the blonde suddenly asked her something unexpected.
“Will you be the one tattooing me ?”
There it was. The question Yoohyeon hoped wouldn’t be asked. She tried to be as professional as she could with Minji but it seemed like the blonde took the bar slip up a bit more seriously than she thought she would.
“I was about to tattoo you Minji but if you’re not comfortable with me being the one tattooing you I can make you another appointment with one of my colleagues. Still I want to remind you that Saturday night has nothing to do with me tattooing you. I’m a professional and if I somehow seemed rude or too persistent, I want to apologize for that,” Yoohyeon felt like she had to finally make herself clear.
The blonde's face quickly shifted to a shocked one, “ Oh god no. Sorry if you thought like that. It’s actually nothing like that. I also want to apologize if I reacted too rudely. I was just being cautious.”
Now Yoohyeon was baffled.
“I just wanted to make sure because I have followed your Instagram account for a while and am a big fan of your art and hoped that you could put your talent into my ideas,” the blonde crunched her eyebrows, truly sorry if Yoohyeon misunderstood the situation.
The brunette was more than shocked now and felt a light blush forming on her face due to the sudden praise and revelation of her being a fan.
“Oh, I didn’t expect that. I feel honored then. I will make sure to do my best.” Yoohyeon replied smiling at the blonde who directly replied with a smile without hesitation.
Yoohyeon really had a bigger amount of followers on her tattoo account for her shop. All of her workers were talented in their own way, which made them quickly have their own name and reputation. She just didn’t expect Minji to be one of them. I’m Situation like those she regrets that she was rarely ever seen in the videos or pictures on the account. Maybe she should really consider sharing one video where she’s more seen when she tattoos someone.
With the mind to make a perfect tattoo, she made herself start her work and prepare the stencils to start to ink them on the beautiful blonde.
Tattooing Minji’s neck was not only torture for the blonde but also for Yoohyeon. They decided to start with the neck tattoo since it’s more painful and would be better to finish at first. The close proximity made her smell her perfume and god forbid did it smell good. Then there was also Yoohyeon's view of the blondes lips and the oh so annoying lip piercing that kept stealing her attention. Her knowing that she dated someone made her feel even worse when she lingered a bit too long at her tense neck or her face but some power kept drawing her in, like a forbidden fruit.
With Yoohyeon’s focus and concentration making sure that every line was perfectly straight, she was soon done with the first tattoo.
Now it was time for the wildflower tattoo. Luckily Minji wasn’t too sensitive and she could work a bit better and faster without hearing the blonde whimpering in pain.
It was also her chance to have some smalltalk with the blonde and get to know her better. Usually Yoohyeon liked to talk to her clients because it made the time more durable and comfortable.
After a short break and lining the stencil up on the forearm, Minji was the first one to break the silence.
“Would you mind sharing who is responsible for the music in your studio?” The question seemed a bit out of nowhere but Yoohyeon figured that the blonde possibly wasn’t focused on the music while getting her neck tattooed.
“Oh it depends. Well I’m usually the only one using this room so mostly me, why? If you don’t like it I can put something else on. I know this song is rather soft, so if you want to listen to something else before we start with the flower you can tell me.”
The blonde slightly shook her head and smiled at Yoohyeon.
“No need to change the music. I just love the song. It’s one of my favorites. I had the most fun while writing it.”
"Okay, I'm glad-,” Yoohyeon stopped for a second. “What do you mean you had the most fun writing it ?”
The blonde chuckled, “I don’t want to brag about it but I wrote that song. I’m a songwriter and producer.”
Yoohyeon quickly stopped the tattoo machine and put it down.
“You’re kidding, right? This is one of my favorite songs. I love the lyrics.”
Now it was Minji’s time to be shocked, “Really?”
“Yes I even tattooed the name of the song on my arm, because I loved it so much,” Yoohyeon said as she took off her black jeans jacket, to show the blonde the ‘ALLDAYLONG’ tattoo on her forearm.
With the racer top underneath the jacket, Minji could easily see the tattoos that covered Yoohyeons arms. She was truly surprised how easily she could spot the ‘ALLDAYLONG’ tattoo between her other beautiful ones .
“Oh wow you weren’t joking, now I truly feel honored. Can I?” Minji smiled as she carefully gestured to Yoohyeon’s arm, asking for a closer look.
How could Yoohyeon say no to such a beauty like her and let her get a closer look at the tattoo.
Destiny truly played its game now. She never imagined that she would meet the songwriter of her favorite song and be able to tattoo her.
“It’s pretty, all of your tattoos are,” Minji replied as their eyes met. Yoohyeon could swear that she saw a shimmer in them, while she gently caressed the tattoo with her fingers. Her touch was so gentle that Yoohyeon could only smile at the blonde's gentleness. She didn’t expect that Minj would act and talk in such a soft manner when her look was giving more dark and badass vibes.
Now the ice between them completely broke and Yoohyeon could finish Minji’s tattoo in a more than comfortable environment. The time was filled with jokes and stories about Minji being a songwriter and Yoohyeon telling her how she started her own tattoo studio. Throughout the time together Yoohyeon got to know how heartwarming the blonde truly was and how much music meant to her, Yoohyeon felt so fascinated that she knew that she only fell deeper and deeper for her.
The brunette wished that she could tattoo Minji forever if it meant spending more time with her. Sadly it wasn’t possible and it was time for Minji to leave.
Most of her co-workers already left and it was only her and Jiyeon left, who still tattooed someone in the back.
“I hope you will take good care of your freshly inked beauties and make sure that they heal well. You can’t disappoint your partner with a badly healed tattoo that they drew for you, right?”
She didn’t know why she said that. Maybe it was her mind trying to close up any possible feelings she started to feel for the blonde. She still wasn’t available and she didn’t want to cross the line.
The blonde just smiled, “I’m sure my father will be proud when he sees the flowers he’d drawn for me. Don’t worry Yoohyeon, I will make sure that it heals well like the beauty in front of me .” Minji grinned at the brunette and then turned around to leave the tattoo studio leaving Yoohyeon with a stunned expression alone.
Wait …
Did Minji really call her a beauty?
And wait Dad?
Does this mean she’s single ?
Yoohyeon was baffled. She was crewed and now truly wanted to see the blonde again.
“Is this some kind of a life crisis meeting ?” Dawon asked jokingly as he saw how Yoohyeon drowned her first drink in one go.
“More like a crush crisis one,” Gahyeon added laughing at her friend.
“Hey it’s not my fault that she called me a beauty and left.”
“But it’s your fault for stalking her social media’s account after you googled her producer name and still thinking about her after more than a week,” Yubin added, smirking at her friend.
“Don’t remind me of that. Her pics are so freaking hot and she follows our tattoo account. I thought she just said it like that but she’s truly a fan. I got it bad, what should I do?”
Yoohyeon hugged Gahyeon and hid herself in her neck as she continued to whine.
“Well she told you she was a fan of yours so maybe just dm her. Use the healing process as an excuse or something.” Dawon suggested as he took a sip of his beer.
“Sure and then she would definitely think that I’m a weirdo and block me.” Yoohyeon truly felt like she was stuck in a labyrinth.
“Hey, sorry. I was kind of distracted by a beauty.“ Bora came back from a phone call.
“Why is she-,” Bora looked at Yoohyeon and then shook her head, already knowing why her friend acts like that.
“Never mind. After my call ended I met this amazing beauty outside and we started to talk. She invited us to their table, to hang out together. Are you up for it?” Bora suggested wiggling her eyebrows at her friends.
“Do we have another option aside, yes?” Yubin laughed, knowing her friend all too well.
“Nope, let’s go and Yoohyeon get your ass together. I’m sure we will have a great time to take your mind off a certain blonde.”
Destiny truly played with Yoohyeon because it turned out that Handong, who Bora met outside, was a friend of Minji.
As they walked over to the table of Handongs friends, Minji directly looked up at the noise and their eyes met. Yoohyeon felt a lightning strike through her body.
The blonde was as beautiful as ever and after their little bonding time during the tattoo session, she finally knew that she could approach the blonde more easily.
The blonde even stood up as she saw the brunette, gave her a hug as a greeting and even praised her in front of her friends for being the amazing tattoo artist that she kept talking about.
Yoohyeon felt happy, even more than that and thanked her destiny again, who seemed to intertwine Minji and Yoohyeon .
The following evening went though easier than they thought because their two friend groups seemed to be a perfect match.
She got to know that Siyeon, Handong and Minji are high school friends. The two started a band back in high school. Minji joined them a bit later since they missed a bass guitar player. At first Minji only helped them out with playing the bass but then she started to help them out with writing and composing songs too. While Siyeon and Handong continued to follow their dream as a band, Minji decided to stay true to her songwriting and composing love.
Yoohyeon found this amazingly hot as she imagined Minji holding a bass guitar. How could Minji seem so perfect?
Their other friends Chaeyeon and Jiwon were also really nice and fun to be around with. Siyeon met those two during an afterparty. They kept spending time together as they all grew into one friend group.
During the evening it was quite obvious that Handong and Bora might had a way more friendlier talk outside than they thought because Handong invited to their next concert. They all knew that it was an excuse to get Bora‘s number but Yoohyeon didn’t mind that because of that she managed to get Minji's number too.
As the evening continued the brunette managed to fall deeper and deeper for Minji. The way the blonde laughed was adorable and the fact that she kept leaning on her when she did, made her feel a tickling sensations all over her body. She thanked Bora for pushing her to sit next to Minji. Otherwise she must have missed those tiny little moments.
At some situations during the evening Yoohyeon also felt like Minji stared at her too and truly hoped that this time she was right.
To enjoy the evening more Yoohyeon decided to stop drinking and just enjoyed the time with Minji and their friends as much as she could.
When you spend time with amazing people and friends, time seems to pass by faster than usual. No one wanted to part but they surely needed to since Gahyeon, and Jiwon got more drunk than they wanted.
The way those two drunk heads acted made Yoohyeon glad that she stopped drinking after her one beer and seeing Minji not drinking anything at all made her even more happy. It must have meant that she got closer to her and that she didn’t act that way towards her because she was intoxicated.
As it was time to say goodbye, Yoohyeon quickly excused herself to the restroom, after they paid the bill. She thought nothing more could surprise her this evening but when she came back to an empty table with only Minji sitting waiting for her, she was wrong.
“Wait? Where did everyone go?”
“Oh they all left already,” Minji answered, smiling brightly at the confused brunette.
“But I couldn’t bid my goodbye and I should have taken the taxi with Dawon,” Yoohyeon replied, more than surprised and confused about the situation.
“I guess they had other plans. Dawon took Gahyeon home since she was too drunk to get home on her own and I’m sure you’ll meet my friends soon,” Minji explained as she stood up walking over to Yoohyeon.
“And before you ask how you get home, I have a better plan.” The blonde added, her smile growing into a smirk.
“And what’s the plan?”
Yoohyeon’s reply came in the form of a shiny car key that Minji held in front of her face.
“Is this cutie up for a drive ?”
Yoohyeon could only chuckle seeing how Minji smiled at her and wiggled her eyebrows in a fun manner, trying to convince her. But little did she know that Yoohyeon would do anything that the blonde would ask for.
“Are you trying to tease me with my awful pickup line?”
“Maybe? Maybe not but are you up for one ?” Minji asked again, this time more pleadingly.
“Are you really not a creep?” Yoohyeon decided to tease back, but quickly stopped as she saw Minji doing puppy eyes. The puppy eyes were really bad for Yoohyeon’s heart and she instantly melted.
“Okay I’m joking. How could I ever say no to such a gorgeous lady like you,” Yoohyeon stated truthfully.
“Okay! Let’s go then.” Minji laughed as she gently took Yoohyeon’s hand in hers to lead her to her car.
As they drove through the night,Yoohyeon looked at Minji’ beautiful side profile while driving her car. Sometimes bad pickup lines can work out too, as it seemed.
