Unseen

Summary:

Khun Aguero Agnis is an abandoned son of Khun.

As a sign of his shame, as penance for his sin, he can never show his eyes ever again. It has never been a problem before and he's used to the scornful stares. The whole world could hate him for all he cares.

Until he met Bam.

Notes:

Just a couple of days before the new year! How are you? I hope you're having a pleasant holiday.

Posted this little drabble back in November of 2020 for Sal and Kate's prompt:
Au where no one has seen Khun's eyes because he always has a blindfold on *insert reason why*
Then tender moment that Khun allows Bam to take it off himself.

Enjoy 😘

Work Text:

Khun Aguero Agnis is an abandoned son of Khun.

As a sign of his shame, as penance for his sin, he can never show his eyes ever again. It has never been a problem before and he's used to the scornful stares. The whole world could hate him for all he cares.

Until he met Bam.

Bam is goodness and light. A boy with gentle laughter who sees the good in everyone. Even in a traitorous bastard like Aguero.

At first Aguero thought it was pity, the softness that was always in Bam's golden eyes whenever he looked at him. And he thought that the gentleness in Bam's voice was the kindness that the boy showed to everyone all the same.

Yet somehow they grew closer. Close enough for Aguero to even call him a friend. And though he was used to being alone, though anyone's touch on his cold skin brought only revulsion, Bam's hand felt warm.

Aguero has accepted that no one could ever accept a pitiful wretch like him for who he was, blinded as they are by the shameful covers on his eyes. Yet a traitorous part of him dared hope that Bam would be strong enough to break the barriers he painstakingly build around himself.

And yet what right had he to ask for more?

A sinner like him had no right to redemption. Even now their accusations lash blazing on his skin and ring in his ears.

He was ever careful not to taint Bam's light. How sad would it be if his star becomes marred because of his selfishness?

So what is Bam doing? Why is he holding him so tightly like his heart would break if Aguero would disappear? Like he is holding something so precious?

"Khun," Bam's tears are hot against Aguero's cheek. "Don't you ever do that again! I thought I lost you..."

"I'm sorry," Aguero mumbles, confused and broken. They won so why was Bam crying? What did he do to make Bam sad?

"Promise me," Bam said. "I want to see your eyes while you promise me that you will not throw your life carelessly again."

"I can't," Aguero panics. "I—"

"Please, for me?" Bam pleads as he cradles Aguero's cheek with one hand and with the other brushes his fingers against the cloth that has always covered Aguero's eyes.

The warmth of Bam's hands is the intensity of suns at high noon, melting Aguero's resolve slowly but surely away.

"Please?" The tips of Bam's fingers are burning brands against his skin, flitting just beneath the edges of the cloth.

Aguero swallows in a vain attempt to bring moisture to the desert that is his throat.

"Do as you wish."

And idly he tries to recall when he has ever been able to refuse Bam.

"Khun..." Bam's whisper is still louder and clearer than the thundering echoes of Aguero's heartbeat.

Bam pushes the cloth slowly up over his head. He cups Aguero's face and runs his thumbs tenderly over the apples of Aguero's cheeks.

"Open your eyes, Khun. Look at me."

Lush lashes spun from the paleness of the blue moon flutter and reveal the bluest eyes Bam has ever seen. And for a moment a greed springs in his chest. These lovely sapphires are only for him to see.

"Promise me, Khun. Promise me that you will always stay by my side."

"I promise," Aguero whispers against Bam's lips, dazed and breathless as Bam's proximity sends all his thoughts whirling to the void.

"Let's seal it then," Bam declares and presses his mouth against tender lips.

After all, sealed promises are for eternity.
