"Maaax?"
"...Chloe, my head feels buzzy and heavy." Max widened her eyes, her head slightly moved downward as she sat almost at the foot of Chloe's bed. "It's like there's a delay of everything." She purposely blinked a few times, then took a big breath of air and let it out, feeling the effects of having a puff of Chloe's joint. Max, looking more like an owl, moved her head slowly up and down to answer without looking at her friend but at the small fan on Chloe's desk by the window, mesmerized not only by the movement of the fan turning back and forth but also the fins rotating at high speed. Woah.
With her eyes half-closed, Chloe blew smoke out as she comfortably sat with her back against the wall in her bed, smiling. "Yeeeah." She tilted toward her side table, put out what remained of the joint, leaned forward, took Max's hand, and lightly squeezed it. "You okay?" Max clasped Chloe's hand, unable to take her eyes off the fan. Chloe quietly added. "Just take it in like you did last time. This one's a different strain, so the effects are gonna be different." Their last time was Max's first time. It was at the junkyard in Chloe's home away from home. Max had spent her weeded time sitting in the back of Chloe's truck staring at the forest across the railway tracks as they swayed in the wind. Then she laid back and stared with Chloe at the clouds overhead, talking about anything and everything that came to her mind. "Chloe, I think lasagna is a cake." Chloe had loved every minute of it, simply listening to a voice from the past who was now next to her once again...
"You're safe here, m'kay." Chloe continued to comfort Max as they sat on the bed. "Like I told ya, Mom and the douche are working the evening shift; you don't have to worry about them coming home, so do whatev that makes you feel comfy," Chloe smirked and poked her with her foot. "Enjoy the weeds, hipster." It took a few seconds for Max to reply with an elongated. "K." She then closed her eyes, feeling the fan's breeze on her face. Wind is awesome.
Chloe watched Max's hair blow gently with her body washed in the perfect glow of light coming through the bedroom window during the golden hour. She caressed the top of Max's hand with her thumb, letting her know she was there as her blue eyes took in the sight, letting her mind take in this exact moment. Max turned her head towards Chloe; when her eyes opened, Chloe watched her pupils bloom as a soft smile appeared. She felt her hand getting lightly squeezed back, then Max leaned forward and crawled onto the girl. Chloe, wide eyed with surprise, loudly whispered. "Max?!" The smaller girl, with a goofy grin, continued, causing Chloe to stretch out her legs and recline in her bed. Chloe didn't know what to do; oh shit! Max was closer than ever. The most physical contact she had with her friend, who was now a hard-hitting-I-can't-get-you-outta-my-mind-crush, was a quick hug to say bye at the end of the school day or when Max left to go back to her dorm. It was something Chloe would think about over and over each time it happened, always hoping that it would last a little longer and wondering when the next one would be. The girl who always kept her 'Cool, punk, I don't care, and fuck the world' persona around everyone, found herself immediately out of her element with Max. Her body went stiff as she laid down; she kept her hands away from her sides and let Max, who was now giggling, crawl over her as Chloe's mind went haywire. Oh dude, oh oh oh oh! your hand is on my thigh! Oh my god, you're close. Lay down. Oh god, this is happening! Don't touch her! I'm wanna touch you, oooh, I wanna hug and hold you! I wanna kiss you! Max laid down, wrapped a leg and arm around and curled into Chloe's body. OOohh my god! She's cuddling into me! DON'T MOVE!.. I'm too stiff. If I relax, she's gonna think my body is squishy! Just relax slowly so she doesn't notice that I'm too stiff. Chloe untensed her stomach slowly as Max squirmed around; Chloe's stomach went rock hard again when she felt Max move her hips; they rubbed up against Chloe's upper thigh, then her neck felt the small nose nuzzling her. Holy fuck! What set Chloe into a dopamine overload was the heat of a big breath of air getting let out under her jawline, followed by Max lightly rubbing her face into the punk's neck.
Chloe's body uncontrollably shivered from the body contact; her eyelids half-closed as her eyes rolled up in her head. And then it happened. A tiny sighing whimper of intoxicating euphoria left Chloe's throat. Her eyes darted open as she caught what she had done. Oh FUCK! She immediately felt embarrassed, wishing at that moment to every God she had ever heard of and Tom Cruise that Max did not hear her moan. Chloe instantly thought of a way to explain it, kinda. I'll clear my throat like I was gonna cough, caaaaasue, auuugh, weed gives you cottonmouth! Chloe's eyes jolted over, looking at the top of Max's head, waiting for Max to look up with a disgusting or questioning look. Instead, Chloe heard a long warm vibration below her ear lobe of "Mmmm." Max's hand lying on Chloe's stomach moved upward to the side of the punk's ribcage and held on. Chloe's entire stiff body went limp; her brow raised, eyes dilated, and she let out her held breath in a gasp. Ooh Jesus! Chloe again felt the rush of euphoria throughout her body. Max let out a little sigh, but it was one of annoyance. Chloe's brain went nuts. Her body again froze and the euphoria known by the name of Max was gone. What did I do?! Am I smelly?! I showered! Am I doing this wrong?!! I'M DOING THIS WRONG! SHE HEARD ME MOAN! OH, GOD! Max again let out a little sound of annoyance with an included growl as she nudged her hips into Chloe's side. Chloe didn't know what to do. She had heard Max growl like this before when she was doing homework. It was when she was frustrated, unhappy, or fed up. Instead of asking what was wrong, cause that would make sense, Chloe couldn't find her voice, dreading that Max was uncomfortable and she would push away, saying that she didn't like it. Her crush would give the reason why which would set Chloe off on months of anxiety over this moment of how she screwed everything up. So Chloe, the cool-ass-bitch-underpressure and 'great communicator', replied with a grunt. The type of grunt you use when someone calls your name and you don't want to say 'what?' Cause actually asking what's wrong would only point out that something was indeed wrong, and that to Chloe, for some reason, meant what they were doing; what she was doing, wasn't right. That Max didn't feel comfortable and her crush would tell her that, to her face… The face with the cute freckles across her nose with those lips she thought about kissing so many times.
Chloe's brow arched up with worry; she prepared herself to hear how everything was going to come to an end. Her mind went into overdrive. Why did I have to touch her?! Everything was going fine. Max again let out a grunt of annoyance and whimpered. "Hugs," Chloe's weeded brain was still distracted; -We won't be friends anymore. She's gonna leave and have nothing to do with me again. She'll hang around with other people – Hugs?! Chloe stopped breathing; her brain even went quiet for about a split second; she didn't know what to do. Her arms lifted like she was going to hug Max, but she stopped and held them back, only for them to move again to attempt a hug, but she stopped once more. Chloe was convinced her weeded brain was tricking her. HaHaHa!!! I made you think, 'Hugs,' but she said, 'Get the hell away from me, you blue penguin weirdo!' As her arms repeatedly hovered then moved away like a slow bird flap, Chloe's mind kept going. She didn't say that. There is no way. What the hell did she say then?! Max let out a louder, annoyed grunt, "Hugs." Followed by another growl. Chloe's eyes widen to double their size like some anime character. Holy-fuck-she-said-hugs! Max wiggle her hips and let out a whimper. Chloe turned her head towards Max and did what Max had asked. Oh, fuck yes! Chloe felt her hand touch the side of Max's upper arm, then travel across her back, feeling the t-shirt material. One hand went down to Max's lower back, the other slid across the back of Max's neck into her hair. Chloe lowered her head and touched her cheek onto the side of Max's head, then closed her eyes. She held Max close, not squeezing her hard or barely holding her. It was perfect. Her hand in Max's hair travelled down the girl's spine, then back up again. It wasn't a quick hug; it was slow, warm, and caring. Everything that Chloe wanted. Max moved her body, and Chloe was brought out of her fuzzy Max moment, thinking the hug was over. No, I want it to last longer, pleeease! Chloe loosened her grasp and started to remove her arms from the person she loved to hold, but Max didn't push away. Instead, Max lifted her head up a little touching her nose to Chloe's cheek as her half-open glassy eyes looked at Chloe, then she smiled with an. "Mmm." Chloe couldn't look away; she didn't want to. The two remained silent as eyes unhurriedly looked over each other's features; a nose tip, a cheek, a freckle, the curve of a lip, then back to the blues of the other's eyes. Chloe felt the slight touch of Max's lips on hers as the girl whispered. "Chloe." Chloe kept watching the beautiful girl before her. She lightly grazed her thumb across Max's cheek, then down by her jawline, resting her hand there as she slowly rubbed her nose against Max's and whispered back, feeling the graze of Max's lip. "Max." And there they stayed, in their comforting embrace, feeling and anticipating what was about to happen next.
