Work Text:
“You may see your father now, Adrien” Nathalie said to a nervous looking Adrien who nodded in response. Adrien opened the door to his fathers office to be greeted with a sight of his mother and father talking in hushed voices. When they saw Adrien enter, they tore apart from one another and continued to work as if they weren’t doing anything suspicious.
Adrien ignored their weird behaviour and smiled at his parents. He still has to get used to having a mother again and having his father more present in his life.
“Oh Adrien, there you are!” Emilie said, walking over to her son to greet him. When Emilie awoke from her miraculous coma (is that what it is?) she was angry to learn the way her husband treated their son, but is happy to see Gabriel starting to finally put an effort to learn about his son and starting to care for him.
“Hi mother,” Adrien said, greeting his mother and nodding at his father. “Hi father”
“Son,” Gabriel said, his eyes not leaving his screen as he moved his hand across the screen. Their relationship had started to get better, but some things never changed.
“What is it that you wanted to talk about?” Adrien asked curiously, this meeting was out of the blue and he wondered what his parents wanted to talk about.
Gabriel looked up to meet his wife's eyes and then directed his attention to his son, who had curiosity splattered all over his face.
“It's about parents career day at your school” Emilie said, smiling at her son. “We were wondering if you were okay if we went and talked to your class?”
“Oh? I didn’t think you guys would want to go to that,” Adrien said, surprised that his parents, let alone his father, wanted to go to his school and talk to his classmates.
“Well we think it would be a good opportunity to meet your friends and your teachers,” Emilie replies.
“I would love for you guys to come,” Adrien said, smiling at his parents. Gabriel feels a pang of regret when he sees his son smile. They have slowly started repairing their relationship but whenever he sees his son smile, a real smile, Gabriel can’t help but think how much he got to see that smile ever since Emelie disappeared.
“Then it's settled,” Gabriel said, his eyes focussed on a new design in front of him. “I can’t wait to finally meet your classmates Adrien,” Emelie said, smiling once again at her son who smiled back.
“Ugh do you guys wrap this up quicker? I’m hungry and Adrien doesn’t have any camembert on him right now.” Plagg said, flying out of Adrien's jacket. The Kwami seemed un-bothered that he interrupted a family moment.
“Seriously Plagg?” Adrien glared at his Kwami who just stared in response. “Oh is that so Plagg? Here,” Emilie reached into her pocket and got out a piece of camembert and held it out to the Kwami who grinned happily at his holder's mother.
“Finally someone who understands the importance of cheese. Jeez Adrien, you need to learn from your mother.” Plagg said, eating his cheese. “This is why you're my favourite, wait second favourite. No one can top Pigtails and her cheesy bread.”
At the mention of her son's girlfriend she can’t help but smile. Her son picked a good one.
“Well, I have some homework I need to get back to,” Adrien said, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck, which made Gabriel suspicious if his son was actually doing homework.
“Hm, ok darling, we’ll see you at dinner time” Emilie said, oblivious to her son's nervous tick.
Once Adrien left the room, Emilie walked back over to where Gabriel was standing and started to admire the piece of work her husband had created. “I can’t wait to meet the Dupain-Chengs tomorrow,” Emilie said, her eyes not moving from the screen, she leaned into her husband as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
“Me too,”

“Did I just hear you right? Your father, Gabriel Agreste and your mother are coming here. Today, ” Nino said, disbelieving at what just came out of his best friend's mouth. They were sitting in the classroom waiting for Mrs Bustier to start parents career day. Adrien just smiled at his best friend's disbelieving face.
“I know right! I couldn’t believe it either when they said they were coming here,” Adrien said.
“Who's coming here?” The boys jump when they hear Alya's voice coming out of nowhere.
“My mother and father are coming here for parents' career day,” Adrien said, smiling again when sees another disbelieving stare.
“Seriously? Do you know why they want to come here?” Alya asks as she settles into her seat behind the two boys.
“No idea, they only told me about it yesterday.” Adrien said, glazing at the empty seat of his girlfriend who was yet to show up. Before he could question Alya where his lady was, Mrs Bustier walked into the classroom and all conversations quietened as she started talking about what they will be doing today.
“So, first up for parents day we have Alya's mother here talking to us about-” Mrs Bustier started but was interrupted by Marinette running into the classroom.
“I’m here! I’m here!” Marinette said, her cheeks flushed and hair flying everywhere.
“Go sit down Marinette, we were just about to start,” Mrs Bustier said, giving her student a gentle smile who smiled and nodded in response.
“Girl you better fix your hair, it's literally going in all different directions,” Alya whispered to her friend as their teacher started going down the order of parents coming that day.
“I know, don’t worry I brought a brush,” Marinette said, pulling a hair brush out of her bag and she started taming her hair and pulling them into her signature pigtails.
“Why were you late anyway?” Her best friend asked.
“Oh I forgot to put my alarm on” Marinette replied, as she turned her focus to who will be coming today. She isn’t exactly lying to Alya when she said that she didn’t put her alarm on, because all night her and Adrien were having a discussion about what to tell Paris about what happened to Hawkmoth and how they were going to deal with that. Let's just say it was a long night for the duo.
Marinette glanced down at her partner, who could feel his girlfriend's gaze and turned so their eyes locked with one another's. Embarrassed she was caught staring, Marinette blushed and turned her attention to her sketchbook, but she could hear Adrien's soft laugh as he turned back to the front.
“-And the last two will be Adrien's parents and then Marinette's” Mrs Bustier announced to the glass who were shocked to hear Adriens parents coming. Marinette's head popped up as she heard the mention of her boyfriend's parents and smacked Adrien's head to get his attention.
“Ow! Why do you do that?” Adrien whined, as he looked at his girlfriend who was glaring back at him.
“Why didn’t you tell me your parents were coming here last night?”
“Oh uh, it crossed my mind?” Adrien said, nervously.
“Why did that sound more like a question than an answer, Agreste?”
“Because…” Adrien trailed off as he tried to think of an excuse to please his now bothered girlfriend.
“Oh Adriens in trouble,” Kim teased. It appears the couple weren’t being quiet because the whole class were looking at them expectantly.
“Continue, act like we aren’t here” Alya said, pointing her phone in their direction. She was going to have the best maid of honour speech at their wedding.
Ignoring their friends, Marinette continues to glare at Adrien who shrinks under her gaze.
“I’m sorry princess, I really did forget to tell you, because you,” Adrien said, he really did forget to tell her. I mean talking about whether or not to tell Paris what happened to Hawk Moth or not is a conversation that would make you forget about something as silly as parent career day.
Marinette's eyes soften at that and she smiles at her boyfriend. “It’s ok, I’m only mad because I am really not prepared to see my boyfriends parents”
Adrien laughs softly at his nervous girlfriend and says, “They already like you, so you don’t really need to prepare for anything”
“Yeah I know but-” Marinette pauses when she realises that all her classmates, including her teacher were in fact listening in on their conversation.
“Ahm, Mrs Bustier can we start please?” Marinette pleads to her teacher who nods in response as she lets in the first parent.
“We’ll talk about this later,” Marinette whispers to Adrien who nods in response.

“Ok! The second last parents are Gabriel and Emilie Agreste,” Mrs Bustier announces to the class. She opens the door and lets the two parents in, one smiling at the students and the other is frowning at them.
“So the Agrestes will be talking about fashion and how it is running a business” Mrs Bustier says to the class, who nods in response.
Seeing that her husband will not start this conversation she starts by telling the class about the business side of running a company and the challenges the job comes with.
“And I had to stop running the business for a while when I had Adrien,” Emilie said smiling at her son, who rubbed the back of his neck when all his classmates' attention went to him.
“Ah yes,” Gabriel said, those words being the first thing he said this entire time. “I remember when I had to run the business for myself when my wife was absent, it was rather hard, especially when I had a little kid running around and climbing all over my office”
“Oh yes, I remember that phase of Adrien,” Emilie said, smiling fondly as the memories started to come to her. “I remember once when Adrien was five, he climbed on top of the staircase railing and nearly fell off. You were such a troublesome kid”
Adrien blushed when his parents started talking about him when he was a kid. His classmates started laughing at the childhood stories which also made him chuckle in embarrassment.
“He’s still a troublesome kid” Marinette mumbles under her breath, but was heard by Alya , Nino and Adrien who turned his head immediately to his girlfriend. The other couple just laughed at this comment
“What's that supposed to mean?” Adrien asks his girlfriend who blushed when she realised she was heard by her friends.
“What’s, what supposed to mean?” Gabriel asks his son who paid his father no mind as he glared at his girlfriend.
“Oooh will Adrienette have another fight?” Alix said, teasing her friends.
“Adrienette?” Emilie questioned but nobody was focusing on them anymore, instead everyone's attention was on the couple yet again.
“Marinette said that I’m still a troublesome kid,” Adrien said, glaring at his girlfriend who just shrugged.
“You can’t tell me that's not true,” Marinette said flatly, giving her boyfriend a raised eyebrow.
“I can confirm that is true,” Gabriel said, intervening in the conversation.
“Oh? Please explain Mr Agreste” Alya said, phone already out and recording. Man she couldn’t wait to display this on their wedding night.
“Yeah please explain father,”
“Well, you do sneak out all the time” Gabriel said accusingly at his son, who’s eyes widened in response.
“That’s right I know you do that, almost daily might I add.”
“Wow didn’t know Adrien had the balls to sneak out” Kim commented who got nods in agreement.
“Why you sneak out I don’t know, but I do have my theories” Gabriel said, his eyes drifting to look at the girl sitting behind her son who was giggling softly at the scene unfolding.
“And one of those theories is sitting right behind you” Said girl squeaked at the sudden attention.
“Care to explain why you think that Mr Agreste” Alya said, already in reporter mode.
“I’m not going to embarrass my son too much this evening Mrs Cesaire” Gabriel replied to the journalist, he preferred to embarrass his son when it was just the two of them. It was more fun that way.
“But I will say that Adrien isn’t the sneakiest kid ever” Gabriel said, already knowing that his son will get integrated by his friends as soon as he and his wife leaves. Thinking of his uncharacteristically quiet, he glances at his wife who is smiling ear to ear, her eyes focused on their son and her eyes filled with adoration.
“Oh that reminds me,” Gabriel said suddenly, ignoring his son's embarrassment. Gabriel looks up to meet Marinette's eyes. “Will your parents be here, Marinette?”
“Oh yes, they are right after you actually.”
“Good, I’ve been meaning to meet them.” Gabriel said, ignoring the surprised look on Adrien's face. “What? Did you expect me not wanting to meet my future in-laws” Gabriel had to suppress a smirk at his son's expression.
“Father! Me and Marinette have only been dating for three months,” Adrien exclaimed, pink splashing across his cheeks.
Gabriel just shakes his head at his son. “Adrien, you do realise I know that you two were in a secret relationship for nearly this entire year.” Gabriel reveals, and judging by the expression on his sons face he had no idea his father knew about his secret relationship.
“Wah! How do you know that?!” Adrien asks, embarrassment and surprise lacing his tone.
“Well, you aren’t the sneakiest person as you may think” He earned snickers around the classroom but a slight smirk played on his son's face.
“You might want to rethink that statement father, because courtesy to your beliefs, I managed to keep a very sneaky secret ever since I was 14 and you only found out a couple months ago.” Adrien says, smirking when his father quirks an eyebrow.
Gabriel smirked in return and said “Touche son,”
“Aw Adrien!” Emilie said, earning confused looks from everyone around the room.
“You are so cute when you're flustered. And your relationship with Marinette is so cute!” Emilie said, both complementing and embarrassing the couple at the same time.
As Adrien's mother continues to coo about her son's relationship, his father smiling fondly at his wife and his classmates asking a bunch of embarrassing questions about his childhood. When he looks up to see his girlfriends knowing expression Adrien knows that he handles the embarrassment when it means he gets the family he always wanted.
“Dude you were such a weird kid” Nino said, laughing at the stories being told, in return Adrien whacked the back of his best friend's head.
