Chenle's not sure if his roommate is a vampire or just really weird.
"Vampires don't exist," his best friend, Donghyuck, will tell him.
"How can you be so sure?" Is always his reply.
Donghyuck rolls his eyes, "Chenle, they're a myth. They're just monsters from stories, they're not real."
Is what Donghyuck used to say, that is until he finally introduced him to his roommate.
"Hi, I'm Jaemin," he smiled, showing off his super sharp and pointy gorgeous teeth as he shook Donghyuck's hand.
Chenle watches smugly as Donghyuck freezes when his eyes lock onto the teeth.
"He just has sharp teeth, there's nothing weird about that," Donghyuck whispers to him.
"Oh, there's more."
"Wow, thanks so much for cooking Jaemin, this all looks delicious ," Donghyuck smiles at Jaemin then turns to Chenle with a look that says 'if he's a vampire then why is he such a great cook.'
'Just wait for it,' Chenle mouths.
Once the food is all prepared, they sit down to eat, well, Donghyuck and Chenle do. Jaemin doesn't have a plate in front of him.
"Uh, Jaemin, are you going to eat too?" Donghyuck questions as he eats the most delicious meal he's ever had in his life. There's no way he's a vampire and he's already chuckling at himself for almost believing it.
"Oh, no I don't eat this stuff," Jaemin smiles, showing off those pointy teeth again. He stands up and goes to the fridge where he pulls out a clear water bottle that's full of red liquid.
Donghyuck just stares at it for a few moments before standing up and pulling Chenle to the side.
"Ok, he might be a vampire," Donghyuck says to him once they're far enough away from him.
"No, he definitely is a vampire!" Chenle harshly whispers.
"There's still a chance he's not! Maybe that was red Gatorade-"
"Jaemin!" Chenle yells.
"Yeah?" Jaemin's voice says from the other room.
"What time do you normally go to bed?"
They hear Jaemin hum. "Depends? Usually when the sun comes up?"
Donghyuck stares at the smirk on Chenle's face. "So wait, are you up all night then?"
"Yep," Jaemin says.
"Ok, fine he's a vampire," Donghyuck grumbles as Chenle walks him to his car.
"I told you!"

"Jaemin, can I ask you a question," Chenle says as he barges into Jaemin's room and stands in front of the boy. He has those blackout curtains in front of his window and almost every single thing in this room is the color black.
Jaemin chuckles as he examines Chenle from his bed. He puts his phone down and sits up. "I don't think I have a choice, but sure, shoot."
Chenle goes for it.
"Are you a vampire?"
Jaemin's face doesn't fall but Chenle can see the way his shoulders sag. "That obvious, huh?" Jaemin says awkwardly.
"Kind of," Chenle sends him a small smile and goes to sit next to him on the bed, but Jaemin just scoots farther away from him. His smile turns to a frown, "Jaemin?"
"You probably don't want me as your roommate anymore," he says as he scratches the back of his neck and looks away.
Chenle won't have that now.
"Jaemin," Chenle says as he grabs his cheeks and turns his head so he's looking at him. Jaemin's eyes are wide with shock as he stares at the younger smiling boy, his cheeks turn slightly red. "This is the coolest thing ever to happen to me! Like I have a vampire as a roommate? How cool is that?"
Chenle could have never imagined that Jaemin would look up at him with a smile on his face and tears in his eyes. "Really?" Jaemin whispers softly.
"Really," Chenle smiles and pulls him into a hug.
It turns out that every human that found out he was a vampire would usually freak out, call the cops, and throw garlic at him which actually doesn't do more than make Jaemin sneeze really badly since he's allergic.
"I thought you were about to kick me out," Jaemin laughs as they are on the couch watching some stupid vampire movie so Chenle can ask Jaemin a million questions. Jaemin doesn't mind especially when he glances at Chenle and sees his eyes light up when he's about to ask another question.
Chenle barely glances at him, too busy absorbed in a vampire vs werewolf fight. It turns out, werewolves exist too! "Of course not, you're not getting rid of me that easy," Chenle grins and lays his head on Jaemin's chest. If Jaemin's heart did beat it would surely be going wild right about now. "Oh Jaemin, do witches exist too?" Chenle says as he turns to Jaemin with excitement all over his face.
Jaemin smiles.

Once Chenle found out the truth, Jaemin felt more comfortable being himself around the apartment. Suddenly he wasn't afraid to fill the bottom drawers in the fridge with blood bags and he stopped wearing his contacts around the house which resulted in the most gorgeous set of golden eyes Chenle has ever seen.
There was a slight problem though.
No, Jaemin being comfortable enough to be himself isn't the issue. The issue is that he's being very sweet to Chenle. Like super sweet with the way he smiles and tells him good morning (at 8pm) and will suggest he make Chenle breakfast before he blushes and realizes Chenle just ate dinner . But when Chenle wakes up in the morning he's greeted with a plate of breakfast wrapped up in the fridge with a cute note that says 'good morning!" with a smiley face but when you look closely there's actually two pointy teeth under its mouth.
If Chenle's running late in the morning, Jaemin will offer to drive him to school despite being extremely tired and very sensitive to the sunlight.
When their AC is broken and it's way too hot in the house, Jaemin will wrap his arms around Chenle and snuggle up with him until he falls asleep because Jaemin's body is cold and really nice and Chenle also feels safe in his arms.
Basically, what he's saying is-
"You're in love," Donghyuck finishes for him.
Chenle sighs but nods his head. "I am."
"So?" Chenle raises an eyebrow at Donghyuck who rolls his eyebrows and says, "What are you going to do about it?"
Donghyuck's question leads to Chenle in front of Jaemin's door at 11pm. He has an early class tomorrow but frankly he doesn't care, all he can think about is Jaemin's goofy smile when he tells Chenle a joke that makes him laugh a little too much or the way Jaemin watches him softly as Chenle talks about his day. He can already hear Donghyuck telling him how whipped he is.
Chenle knocks lightly on the door and after a few moments Jaemin's head pokes out and Chenle smiles as he sees Jaemin's bed head making it obvious the cute vampire just woke up. Without thinking, Chenle reaches over and smooths out his hair, watching the way Jaemin closes his eyes as it happens. He gives Chenle a soft smile once he pulls his hand back.
"Hi," Chenle smiles.
"Hey," Jaemin smiles back and before Chenle can open his mouth and get straight to the point, that he just realized he's in love with this beautiful boy, Jaemin is already tugging him into his room and towards his bed.
"Can't sleep?"
"Yeah," Chenle lies. I mean, it's kind of true. Sure, Chenle's eyes feel heavy and as soon as Chenle is in Jaemin's comfy bed and in his even comfier arms, he already feels himself drifting off to dreamland. But he also knows he tends to stay up thinking about the pretty boy who is currently looking at him with such softness in his eyes and a slight blush on his cheeks and-
Oh
"You're in love with me!" Chenle gasps.
They both stare at each other in shock, that is until Jaemin's face gets red, even his cute little ears, and suddenly he's trying to detach himself from Chenle, but Chenle only holds on tighter. He's not letting this one go.
"Oh my god, you love me too!" Chenle says in wonder as he leans closer to Jaemin's face. Chenle watches Jaemin's bright golden eyes dart around the room, looking everywhere but at Chenle until something seems to click in his head.
Jaemin finally meets Chenle's eyes. "Wait, too?" Jaemin squeaks out.
It's Chenle's turn to look away, cheeks red. "I think I can sleep now, I'll be going-"
Before he can sprint out the room, Jaemin grabs him and holds him in place. "Chenle don't go," Jaemin whines. His hands cup his cheeks and he looks at Chenle with his big round eyes filled with hope. "Did you mean it?" he asks softly and Chenle's chest feels with warmth and he can't believe he fell in love with a vampire, but he did and he has no regrets.
Chenle grins, "I do."
"Even though I'm-"
"Yes, even though you're a spooky vampire," Chenle giggles.
The cutest grin forms on Jaemin's face and before Chenle knows it, he's being tackled into a hug.
“I was so scared to fall in love with you,” Jaemin mumbles as he hugs him tighter.
“Why,” Chenle asks softly as Jaemin gently lays them back down.
“Who would want to date a monster who survives off of human blood?” Jaemin chuckles dryly.
Chenle frowns at that and pulls back so he can look at Jaemin. Jaemin refuses to meet his eyes at first so Chenle puts a gentle hand on his cheek and turns his head so their eyes lock.
“If the world’s going to call you a monster then you’re my monster now,” Chenle says as he rests his forehead against Jaemin’s. “My cute little monster and I’ll fight anyone who’ll try to take you away from me!” Chenle says seriously.
Jaemin eyes search his face for a few moments before he cracks a smile. “Yeah? How exactly will you stop them?”
“I’ll bite them!”
Jaemin laughs. “Isn’t that my job?”
“Not anymore,” Chenle giggles.
They both smile shyly as they look into each other’s eyes.
“Can I kiss you-” Jaemin starts to whisper, but is interrupted when Chenle dives forward and connects their lips.
They pull back after a few moments, out of breath. “I can’t believe I just kissed a vampire!” Chenle shrieks happily.
Jaemin smiles at him and plants kisses all over his face.
“Your vampire.”
