"Run."
It was all Wednesday said after the class ended and it was Enid's cue to dash away.
Enid was running. As fast as she can.
Dodging every student that got in her way, earning a few “Sinclair!”, “watch it!”, “Slow down!”, comments from those she barely hit. Her heart pounded hard and fast, feet maintaining on smooth tiles and cobbled steps, and breath uneven as she continued her pace.
Thwump.
Zzsh.
Twang
‘γαμώ!’ Enid’s sharp hearing—one that got sharper after her first wolf-out—heard it loud and clear and dodged the oncoming assault. Her sight came to one of the pillars of the quad and she dived in and curled up, using the thick pillar as cover.
Twang.
The lycan peeked at item on the floor, a sharp bolt, and looked up to where it came from.
On the balcony of one of the campus buildings, Enid saw the culprit, dark hair with twin long braids, black uniform, holding a crossbow that was being loaded again with another bolt, and she clicked her tongue. She knew she had a few more seconds before she could move and take cover.
Pushing off the floor, she jumped to another pillar hoping for cover.
Zzsh. Rrrippp.
Enid once again ducked behind the pillar and gasped after hearing the tearing sound. She pulled off her uniform jacket and grumbled seeing the fabric ripped. She then looked out from her hiding spot and raised her jacket, showing it to the assailant. “WENDSDAY! YOU RIPPED—EEP!” she dodged the oncoming bolt by swiftly ducking down, the ammunition hitting the wall behind the blonde and barely misses the other students walking by.
Enid was close to the table where her friends were seated. A few more steps and she be safe. Enid dodged another bolt yet again by hiding behind the pillar, hearing a yelp from one of the passersby who was almost hit by the razor-sharp item. She looked at the group whom her roommate almost injured and apologized for her roommate’s actions.
Bzzt bzzt!
Enid’s mobile device vibrates, and the blonde took it out and saw a message from her attacker. She opened the message and grumbled.
‘You can’t hide there forever.’ The message read.
It was true. Enid needs to find safety among her friends, and she can’t do that if she’s hiding behind the pillar. Her legs ached and her chest felt like it was being crushed but she knew she must move.
Twang! Twang!
Enid’s eyes went wide hearing two bolts hitting the pillar.
“If not for… ugh!” the colorful lycan pressed a hand on the pillar, determined to run to the table, and readied herself. She focused on the sounds of her surroundings, keeping tabs of the metallic sound flying towards her. She took a deep breath and pushed herself off the pillar as soon as she heard the crack in the air from the release of another bolt.
She ran. As fast as she could. Zigzagging and pushing students out of the way.
Fwip!
Fwip!
Fwip!
Three bolts were dodged before she was a few feet away from her usual table.
It was near.
She was going to sit beside Yoko and it would be over.
Just a few more steps.
Enid was a step close to her seat, she was there.
Zzsh!
‘Shit…’
Enid turned and prayed whatever her adrenaline pushed her to do would work as in a split second her hands moved and rapidly pressed together. Her eyes staring straight to the pointed end of the metallic sharp rod that was caught in between her hands.
Those behind the blonde werewolf had mixed reactions.
Ajax, Yoko and Xavier let out a cheerful response.
Divina, Kent, and Bianca scoffed.
looked back up to the balcony and Wednesday was no longer there. As if what she saw earlier was a ghost.
The vampire pulled her friend down to her seat and handed her a water bottle she carried just for the occasion. It was accepted by the werewolf who was still holding the bolt and chugged down the water within seconds. “Danggg Enid, your girl really is out to kill you.” She marveled how the werewolf drank a whole liter of water in a few seconds.
“I—ugh—can’t—believe—she—used—real—weapons—I—goddess—eleven—arrows.” Enid said in-between pants. She slumped her head on the table as she caught her breath.
“Well on the good side, nobody was hurt.” Ajax lazily said, patting his ex’s head gently.
Zzssh. Rrripppp. Twang.
Everyone aside Enid moved a bit far from the table as another bolt hit the center and Ajax’s hoodie now has a rip on the shoulder area. The tear was inches away from the boy’s skin.
“How many times do we have to tell you, bro, don’t touch the wolfgirl!” Kent shouted at Ajax who was too amazed yet scared at what happened.
“These stoners… really.” Bianca shook her head and got back to her seat.
“Not really surprised Enid dumped your ass.” Yoko commented and Divina nodded in agreement.
Xavier was mostly amazed at how the bolt was a few spaces away from the blonde who was on the table. He knew that his friend was good with arrows. Wednesday told him she was a good shot on live targets.
The blonde heard it but was too tired to even care on what happened. She was just lying on her head still on the table as her breathing and heartbeat got on a steady pace.
“Remind me again why are you running for your life, Sinclair? Last time I checked, you and Addams are now a couple and now you’re being shot with these crossbow bolts?” Bianca poked the ammo that was stuck on the table. "She got tired and want to literally kill you?"
Enid sat up and grumbled. “It’s my fault. I pestered her to give me a kiss or just a romantic gesture in public, and then she agreed only if she did it her way.” She let out a whine. “I didn’t even think that her way involved me running for my life because she decided to play Tag the Addams way. Meaning If I can evade her for the whole first half of the day outside classes, I would get what I want.”
Kent whistled in amazement. “And you were able to evade these sharp bolts? Nice Sinclair!” He was gonna give Enid a pat on the head then remembered what happened with Ajax.
“Your girl is fucked up. Weird and fucked up.” Ajax commented.
This earned him a growl from the blonde and a bonk to the head using the metallic bolt.
Yoko snickered at how dense the stoner is but really isn’t surprised. “Well given you evaded the barrage of arrows from the heavens, I’m guessing you won.”
“Yes, but ughhh I’m just tired from running.” Enid slumped back on the table.
Bzzt Bzzt!
The werewolf sat up and took out her phone to see a message from Wednesday again. She opened it and decided to read the message out loud. “You won this round. Twist the bolt clockwise. I’ll see you later.” Enid looked at her hand that was holding the bolt and twisted the shaft.
The tip slowly splits and at every turn of the shaft, the metal spreads and curves forming a long metallic flower.
Enid was speechless. Blushing and speechless as she held the metallic flower in her hand.
“Wow your girl is really an Addams.” Yoko whistled seeing what happened with the bolt. She grabbed the one on the table and twisted the shaft, also getting the same metallic flower result. “She’s been showering you with deadly flowers. In public.”
Knowing that the ammunition were metallic flowers, the werewolf jumped out of her seat and rushed to gather the ones that missed her.
Overall, she got 12 metallic roses from Wednesday Addams.
