His vision was blurry before things slowly came into focus. His arms were chained to a black wall, and he was dressed in nothing but a loose pair of black sweatpants. The cold floor beneath him looked like white marble, and all he could see in front of him was a black curtain. He was helpless as he struggled to break free from the silver chains that held him tightly in place.
“Not so fast, slave. Try all you want, but you’ll never escape those chains. Plus, you’re the main attraction of the night. You’ll make me quite a sum of money with that pretty face and pure body of yours.” A middle-aged man spoke as he gripped the slave’s face harshly.
The slave’s doe eyes widened in fear as a chill ran down his spine. He didn’t like the way the man smirked at him. They were soon interrupted when they heard the sounds of chattering coming from behind the black curtains.
“It’s time. Put on a good show for me tonight, slave.” The man spoke before he placed a top hat on his head.
The slave watched the man walk over to the middle of the stage before he walked past the curtains. He could hear the man talking and the crowd cheering. Fear crept up his entire body as he watched the black curtains slowly open to reveal a massive crowd of people staring at him. He noticed right away that none of these people were human. This was a crowd full of demons, and he was the leading entertainment for them.
“Here he is, Jeon Jungkook!” The middle-aged man shouted to the audience as they all looked at the slave in curiosity.
Jungkook felt fear surge through his body as he tried to break free from his chains, only to fail again. He heard about places like this where they captured humans and sold them as slaves to the demons. He never thought he’d end up as one of the captured humans, though. He was always careful to stay away from trouble his whole life, and yet here he was chained helplessly to a wall and trying to ignore the stares of the horrifying demons.
Even though he had on sweatpants, he still felt like he was naked in front of everyone. His eyes scanned the crowd for any sign of freedom. Jungkook’s breath hitched, and his heart stopped beating as his eyes landed on one particular demon that was casually sitting in the front row. Kim Taehyung, the Demon Prince. Taehyung was the son of the new Demon King, and everyone lived in fear of him and his family. Rumors of how ruthless he was had spread throughout the human world, and humans always lived on constant edge. Taehyung had this certain air about him that made both humans and demons cower in fear over him. He radiated pure evil and corruption. His handsome looks only made everyone shy away from him.
Taehyung locked eyes with a scared Jungkook, and he merely smirked at the shaking human. There was something about that human that made Taehyung want to keep him around. He wasn’t one to waste a wonderful opportunity.
“I want him,” Taehyung spoke in a deep voice that sent out whispers among the crowd.
Jungkook’s eyes widened in both shock and fear as he heard the Demon Prince speak for the first time. Why would the prince want a mere human when he could have the most powerful demons by his side?
“Right away, your highness.” The middle-aged man replied as he quickly walked over to Jungkook.
There were whispers and small conversations amongst the crowd as they all watched Jungkook being unshackled from the wall. Everyone was confused as to why their prince wanted this human.
Taehyung immediately rose from his seat, causing the crowd to go silent before walking onto the stage.
“You got lucky. You better behave yourself, or I’ll kill you.” The middle-aged man whispered in Jungkook’s ear as he harshly tugged at the chain.
Taehyung walked up to Jungkook and stared into the human’s fearful doe-like eyes. Jungkook tried to shrink away from the demon’s gaze, but it was far too powerful.
“From now on, you are mine. This ring will serve as proof of your bond with me. Only I can remove this ring once it has been placed on your finger. Let it be known that you are my slave, a demon’s slave.” Taehyung spoke as if he had rehearsed those lines thousands of times.
Jungkook watched as Taehyung pulled out a small silver ring from his pocket. The ring looked plain. It didn’t look like it was very valuable, and it looked like he had bought it from a toy vending machine.
Taehyung grabbed hold of Jungkook’s hand and placed the ring on the human’s left index finger. Nothing happened at first, and Jungkook curiously inspected the finger, wondering if something was supposed to happen. It all happened so fast that Jungkook barely had time to process everything. There was a blinding white light that enveloped the room, followed by the screams of Jungkook. His entire body felt like it was on fire as he tried gasping for air. He struggled to breathe and tried clutching at his throat as he fell to his knees. Tears began streaming endlessly down his face as he screamed out more and more until his voice grew hoarse. He tried to dig his nails into his neck to clutch at the pain, but the firm grip on his arm roughly stopped him.
Taehyung watched in fascination as the human-turned-slave’s eyes rolled into the back of his head, and he collapsed to the floor. A disappointed sigh escaped Taehyung’s lips as he ran his fingers through his black hair in frustration. Mutters from the crowd didn’t go ignored and only made the prince even more frustrated.
“Looks like he didn’t survive the process. What should we do with him, your highness?” The middle-aged man asked.
“Throw him away. I have no use for human corpses. What a shame. He was gorgeous.” Taehyung muttered.
The black curtains quickly closed as Taehyung knelt down beside Jungkook’s lifeless body. He took in the sight of the young human as he placed a gentle hand on Jungkook’s cheek.
“Sorry. You were the most beautiful one yet. If you had survived, then I would’ve made sure you were happy with me. This is a burden that I will always carry with me, Jungkook. Rest well.” Taehyung whispered before he walked off, leaving behind a lifeless Jungkook.
