"This place is called Wanmin, it's really good," says Yanfei. "You don't mind if I order for you, right?"
Mona nods. Considering she's from mondstadt, she's happy her girlfriend is able to speak Chinese. They've been together long enough for Mona to be comfortable around her in public. She can understand her accent, though she still has trouble with the pronunciation of some words.
The waiter returns with two bowls of steamed rice covered in different sauces. Yanfei takes her chopsticks and digs in.
"That looks great!" exclaims Mona. "What is that?"
"It's Yangzhou fried rice," explains Yanfei. She takes another bite and adds, "A famous dish from east China."
They're silent for a while, enjoying each other's company.
"So...how was your day?" asks Mona.
Yanfei thinks about it and replies: "Not bad... I had another court case about some robbery."
Mona nods. She wants to know more about Yanfei's work. But she just smiles and continues eating.
After they finish their meal, Yanfei suggests going for a walk on the harbour front. The night is clear and warm, and there are many people walking along the street. They stop at a stall selling you tiao and tea.
"This is one of my favourite places in Liyue," says Yanfei. "It always reminds me of the dishes my mother used to make."
They drink their teas and chat about nothing in particular. There are so many things Mona's curious about, but she knows better than to ask anything too personal or awkward.
She watches Yanfei as she sips her tea. Her eyes look out over the harbour. It's hard not to imagine how those green eyes would look when looking into hers.
Mona asks, "How long have you been here in Liyue?"
"For my entire life," replies Yanfei. "I grew up here."
"You must be very proud of it," says Mona. "Being born and raised in Liyue, it's gorgeous here."
Yanfei smiles. "Yeah..."
Mona glances at her girlfriend for a slight moment. They take turns watching the people passing by them.
"Have you ever travelled to any regions?" asks Mona.
Yanfei pauses to think before answering: "Yes... I've travelled quite a bit, actually. I went to Sumeru 2 years ago."
Mona smiles. She remembers Yanfei telling her about it when they first met. "It must have been amazing! How did you like it?"
"It was great! I loved the nature, the people were also very nice." Yanfei replies. She takes another sip of her tea. "But now I'm glad to be back in Liyue."
Mona nods. After a few seconds of silence, she says, "I thought I'd never see you again after we parted ways in Mondstadt. I really missed you."
Yanfei takes a deep breath. "Me too... But were both here now. Should we go for a walk on the mountains?"
Mona smiles and nods.
They walk along the paths leading up to one of the mountains overlooking Liyue harbour. They sit down on a bench and enjoy the view.
"There are so many stars tonight." says Mona.
"Yes..." replies Yanfei. "Aren't you super into astrology?"
Mona laughs. "Yeah, it's been my interest for ages"
"Do you believe in horoscopes?" asks Yanfei.
Mona glances at her girlfriend, then answers: "Of course. The universe has an influence on everything, and everyone. We're all connected."
"You sound very philosophical like that." Yanfei smiles and holds Mona's hand.
Mona nods. "I am. I love learning about the world. Every day, I learn something new."
Yanfei leans in close to Mona. Their lips meet. For a moment, the two lovers are lost in the sensation of being next to each other. Mona feels like she could stay there forever, together, with her girlfriend.
