Grian and Scar were visiting Paldea for the first time to catch some of the region’s native Pokémon. The duo were currently staying in a hotel in the city of Cascarrafa. Grian wasn’t sure what Pokémon he wanted to catch, but Scar was adamant about wanting to catch a Tinkatink.
The main thing that Grian was worried about was if or not whatever Pokémon he caught would get along with his partner Pokémon, a Chatot named Professor Beak. Professor Beak was very mischievous and didn’t get along with many other Pokémon or people besides Grian, and maybe Scar.
“So it looks like Tinkatink can be found in ruins, and there’s some not far from here!” Scar said excitedly, “maybe after we catch some Pokémon we can have a picnic,” he added.
“Sounds like a plan!” Grian replied, excited to hopefully find some Pokémon.

After stopping by the store to grab some stuff for a picnic, Grian and Scar made their way to the ruins, which were not far from some sort of base run by school kids for some reason. The ruins were populated by quite a few types of Pokémon, including Falinks, Gastly, and most importantly for Scar, Tinkatink.
“Grian!” Scar whisper yelled, pulling Grian behind a wall.
“Wha-“
“Shh!” Scar retorted, pointing to a Tinkatink, “don’t scare it away!”
Grian handed Scar some Pokéballs from his bag, aswell as Professor Beak’s Pokéball, so that Scar could battle the small Pokémon to make catching it easier.
Scar eagerly released Professor Beak from her pokéball.
“Use peck!” Scar yelled, and Professor Beak did just that, flying at the Tinkatink and pecking at it.
The Tinkatink responded by using fairy wind, sending Professor Beak stumbling through the air. The two Pokémon and Scar went back and forth like this, until Scar threw a Pokéball at the Tinkatink.
After the battle Professor Beak flew onto Grian’s shoulder, he had been setting up the picnic while Scar was trying to catch the Tinkatink.
Scar walked over, releasing the Tinkatink from her Pokéball, he bent down to give the Pokémon head pats, “I think I’m gonna call you Jellie,” Scar said happily as Grian handed him a plate, and set down a bowl of Pokémon food for the newly named Jellie and Professor Beak.
“Have you figured out what Pokémon you want to catch yet?”
“No, maybe we can look in the desert?” Grian suggested, “Professor Beak doesn’t seem to like any of the Pokémon around here.” Grian gestured to Professor Beak, who had started to pick a fight with a Falinks.
“Yeah, that sounds like a plan!” Scar said.

In the desert Grian had Professor Beak out of her Pokéball to see how she would react to the other Pokémon around the desert. It didn’t take long for them to find a Pokémon that Professor Beak got along with. A small pink and yellow Pokémon called Flittle.
Grian caught the Pokémon, naming it Maui.
“Wanna have a battle?” Scar asked.
“Yeah!” Grian replied.
The two threw out their Pokémon, and prepared for a battle.
