Rely on me

Summary:

Suletta cuts herself while tending to the tomatoes in the greenhouse and Miorine comes to the rescue.

Notes:

This started as a wump prompt (bloody hands) but as the fic progressed it turned into fluff somehow. The blood part isn't very detailed so I didn't tag it but be careful just in case.
Also if you haven't caught up with the show, beware of implied spoilers below.
Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

When Miorine saw Suletta hunched over in the back of the greenhouse, she knew something was wrong. But what ? Miorine entered the greenhouse. Okay, her assumptions were right. Suletta was staring blank-faced at the wall without moving.

-What's the matter, Suletta?, she asked with a puzzled expression. A few seconds passed. Suletta didn't seem to register the question. Hmm. Miorine creased her brow. Now she was really starting to worry. It was at that moment she noticed something red on the floor. It couldn't be. Just as she was thinking that, her eyes focused on Suletta and sure enough, the stains were blood coming from her hands. A lot of it.

Her head immediately registered the alarm and Miorine started looking around frantically for something to stop the bleeding, Suletta blinked and finally looked at her, trembling.

-Miss Miorine... I don't know what happened... I was searching through the tools for something to cut the withered leaves, but...

Calm down. Miorine scanned the stained floor. She noticed some hedgeshears sprawled over next to them. She could figure out the rest. First she needed to stop the bleeding, surely there was something here that would do the trick. She gave her fiancée a hard look :

-Suletta, stay put and take deep breaths. I'm right here with you, just be patient while I find something to help you.

Suletta, though still trembling, nodded and watched Miorine search. After rummaging through the supplies in the back, Miorine caught eye of some rags used to clean the other tools. Luckily, a couple of them looked unused and Miorine grabbed two.

She wasted no time and applied them on Suletta's hands. After pressing the rugs to the wounds, the hemorrhage seemed to have subsided a little. Both girls let out a sigh of relief.

-You gave me such a scare... But for now, we should go to the infirmary and get these wounds treated.

Suletta looked at the ground sheepishly.

-R-right ! Sorry for the inconvenience.

Miorine wanted to reassure her but again, right now she was too concerned over Suletta's wellbeing and helped her up, a stern look on her face.

-Follow me.

They left the greenhouse and quickly headed over to the infirmary. It was located on the school's first floor so they had a bit of walking to do. Suletta was looking at her feet on the way, Miorine was frowning, so Suletta preferred not to bother her.

After a couple of minutes, they entered the infirmary and Miorine left Suletta the staff's hands. They cleaned and examined the wound and it turned out the cuts weren't that deep and Suletta would be able to leave right away.

They thanked the personnel and left the infrimary. Suletta sighed, exhausted from the incident, and decided to start the conversation.

-You were so cool earlier, Miss Miorine... I was too shocked after I cut myself and didn't know what to do but you came in and knew what to do right away... Thanks again.

Miorine softened her expression.

-I'm just glad you're okay. Do be careful next time though, I won't always be there to help you, even hen we get married.

Suletta looked down and let out a small smile.

-Of course. You were probably surprised to see me like this, since I'm a pilot and all. The thing is, I'm not good with anything physical that doesn't have to do with Aerial... Now I feel a little dumb.

So that was it, thought Miorine. She reached out and took Suletta's hand gently.

-Don't worry about that, it's not a problem. I'm grateful for your help with the tomatoes. I'll take it from here for today, you need rest.

Before Suletta could respond, Miorine had already let go of her hand. Maybe she was embarrassed Suletta was then left alone in the corridor, a small blush on her face. She stayed there for a couple instants to register what had just happened and then shook her head. The sun through the windows was starting to set.

-Alright, I guess I better go back to the dorms.
