This is the tale of a Spinel.
There was a Gem called Pink Diamond, she was part of the elite of Diamonds. Spinel considered her her best friend, the brightest jewel with the most beautiful smile, she would do anything for her and for her just to be able to enjoy her company.
One day, Pink Diamond called her to her Garden.
Here in the garden
Let's play a game
I'll show you how it's done
Here in the garden
Stand very still
This'll be so much fun
And then she smiled, that's what I'm after
A smile in her eyes, the sound of her laughter

Happily watching her drift away
Pink Diamond accessed one of the many platforms the Gems use to travel from one planet to another and told her to wait without much explanation, but Spinel was a loyal friend and trusted her.
Happily waiting
All on my own
Under the endless sky
Counting the seconds, standing alone
As thousands of years go by
The first few days were a little lonely, but Spinel was convinced that she just needed some time, after all, she was your best friend, right? It wouldn't create paranoia in her head, just wait. All a matter of time.
Happily wondering, night after night

A few weeks passed, no news. Spinel was worried, she didn't know where Pink Diamond had gone, if it was dangerous, if she could be injured or in need of help.
She shook her head, it was a diamond after all, nobody could do anything bad to her.
At the same time that she was trying to comfort herself with that thought, another very painful one came: but if she's fine, why hasn't she come back yet?
"Did you forget about me?"
You keep on turning pages, for people who don't care
People who don't care about you
And still it takes you ages
To see that no one's there

The weeks turned into months
The months turned to years
The years turned to centuries
No news. Nothing.
immovable Spinel. Gems didn't need to sleep or eat anyway, but she still felt tired.
She began to think about the friendship they had, she always tried so hard. Did she do something wrong?
Did Pink Diamond get tired of her?
Did she find her irritating or a nuisance?
"But if that's it, why didn't you ever say anything? Why didn't you talk? Did she choose to walk away like that rather than explain what was wrong? How to fix without knowing where it failed?"
Six thousand years have passed
Finally something
Finally news
About how the story ends
She doesn't exist now
Survived by her son
And all of her brand new friends
Isn't that lovely?
Isn't that cool?
And isn't that cruel?
And aren't I a fool to have

Her paranoia was confirmed. Spinel was nothing more than a toy to Pink Diamond, a toy she got sick of and threw away like it was nothing.
All the friendship they had, all they lived through, all their effort, none of it ever meant anything. Pink Diamond turned out to be a selfish Gem who only thought about herself, went to another planet, made a new family while leaving the imbecile waiting in the garden. All the love and hope she had had been erased, leaving an empty hole in her chest.
So that's what she meant to Pink Diamond.
So that was what friendship was worth.
Nothing.
It never was anything.
She could be dead and her precious Diamond wouldn't even know it.
She was forgotten in the Garden as if she were disposable, replaceable, as if her feelings were worthless.
Her life was dedicated to doing her bidding, making her smile the best way she could, she always strived to be a good friend and in the end she was just a thorn in the side, a nuisance, and she never even knew it. Her Diamond chose to flee and abandon her.
