Work Text:

Jack found himself in the park a few blocks from the arena with Hook. They sat on a bench under a dim streetlamp. Jack, still sore from the Firm's beatdown, rubbed his side. Hook looked over at Jack, realizing he was still hurt. His usual stone-faced expression softened for a moment. Jack noticed this and gave a slight smile.

Jack hadn't felt close to anyone since Christian and Luchasaurus's betrayal. He didn't have anyone on his side during that time and trust was hard to find in people. Trust hurt. Jack felt that maybe he trusted too easily. However, with Hook sitting quietly next to him, his wounds healed and his scars faded.

What was it about Hook? Jack has barely heard him speak, and yet, the unconditional nature of Hook's care was enough to make him trust him, fully. It was a new feeling, though. Similar to how he felt with Christian, but this was easier.

Hook wrapped his arm around the shoulder of Jack. The contact made Jack feel weightless. He leaned into the embrace. Jack closed his eyes as he felt Hook's gentle hand caressing his curls. Tingles went throughout his body.

Hook's hand left Jack's hair and laced their fingers together. Jack looked up at Hook with soft eyes, and Hook leaned in. Warmth pressed against his lips for a moment, then left.

"You kissed me,"Jack whispered.

Hook nodded with a slight smile.

"Why?"

"Because I wanted to," Hook said.

Jack's stomach filled with the fluttering of butterfly wings at the sound of Hook's voice. Is this trust? Is this comfort? Is this what love should feel like? It wasn't conditional like in the past. Jack didn't have to do anything. It was all so simple.

They sat in a comfortable silence for a little while longer before going back to the hotel. For this first time in a while, nothing was expected of Jack.

Notes:

Short and sweet. Kinda inspired by We'll Never Have Sex by Leith Ross.
