A knock came at Sami's door. He thought that was unusual because nobody really comes to his door. He usually knocks on others' doors. Mostly that of Roman Reigns.
Sami opened the door. Standing on the other side was Jey Uso. Sure, Sami and Jey have gotten closer since War Games, but Jey has never come to Sami's door. Ever.
"Sami, uh, can we talk?" Jey whispered.
"Yeah, what's up?" Sami said, a smile on his face, yet concerned lurked underneath.
"Inside."
His smile faded. "Of course." He led Jey inside and they sat down in two chairs that sat adjacent to each other. "What's wrong? Is this about Roman?"
Jey chuckled. "I mean, yeah, it's about Roman, but nothing's wrong. I just think it would be best if we talked about this privately ."
Sami gestured for him to go on.
"I think it's important for you to know that Roman really cares about you. As much as you care about him, maybe more. I mean, you are all he talks about these days. I'm gonna be honest, I don't get it. Like, you're cool, Sami, and I really like you around, but this is something else."
Sami smiled and stared down at his lap. "What does he say about me?"
"I dunno, man…" Jey thought for a second. "Let's say you got hurt in a match, right? I'd get a billion texts from him asking if you're okay. Or we'll be watching a movie and he said 'Sami would like this movie'. You know, stuff like that."
Sami got hot in the face and sweaty in the palms. "Roman really thinks of me like that?"
"Yeah, no joke. The only reason I'm telling you is, I know Roman wouldn't tell you. And I think you outta know because you give so much to him and you should know that he is giving back."
Sami decided this was the moment that he would let out what he'd been keeping in. "I have feelings for Roman."
Jey went silent for a minute or so. Not a shocked silence, but a methodical silence. A silence that is used to craft a perfect response. Jey had trouble with that. "I can't be sure, but I'm now realizing Roman might feel the same way."
"What do I do?"
"I dunno… because if you tell him and he does feel the same way, it's all good, but if he doesn't, then…"
"He would probably never speak to me again."
Jey pursed his lips. Minutes passed. "He really cares about you, Sami."
"I can't tell him," Sami said, melancholy weaving within his words.
Jey put his hand on Sami's shoulder. "Then what's the point? What's the point of loving someone, if they never know?"
Sami just stared. It's all he could do.
"He would never hurt you, uce."
Sami got up from his seat and headed towards the door. "I'm not telling him. It's never happening. I'm sorry, Jey."
