Work Text:

The noise of the people that filled the pub in the evening was cut off with the loud clap coming from Hongjoong, who, fighting unsteadiness of his drunk body, was trying to stand on the chair. Wooyoung smiled widely at him, leaning back on his seat, watching Seonghwa’s unsuccessfully trying to prevent his boyfriend from falling and laughing when Hongjoong land his ass right in Seonghwa’s arms. Those couples and their drawn up couple-ish mechanisms can be really useful sometimes.

Wooyoung is well aware of theirs first dates, how red was Seonghwa’s cheeks and how Hongjoong’s awkwardness gone up at the minute he saw Hwa, and Wooyoung is still doesn’t get it how the two opposites came to a common point so quickly. Wooyoung is actually a little bit envious of them but he’ll never say it out loud.

Not that Wooyoung’s love life was at a dead point, — he had his first boyfriend at the age of fifteen, he’d his longest relationship at seventeen to his early twenty and then there’s always was something wrong; something didn’t work with them, something in the person was not for his liking, and so on he reached up the line when he just lost the need in dating. Regular hookups brightened up his monotonous weekdays, refuelled his body with serotonin and that was all.

But Wooyoung does not let his heart be broken at that. Well-known Choi San has been firmly stuck in there for a long time now.

Too bad that San himself doesn’t know about it.

"Wooyoung," Hongjoong’s voice seeps through the loudness of the neighbouring table. "This– " he waves a crumpled tissue like it’s a white flag right in front of Wooyoung’s face, "this is your rescue."

Wooyoung raises his eyebrows, looking at his hyung with curiosity.

"Tomorrow I will– " he stares at Wooyoung, frowning at something in his mind, and then he looks at the guy next to him. "No, not me. Seonghwa. Tomorrow Seonghwa will give it to San."

"And?" Wooyoung nods, hearing Seonghwa’s heavy sigh.

"And… And then we’ll see."

Wooyoung chuckles, now noticing how the alcohol took over his friend that he lost his possibility in making a long, proper sentences.

Looking back at the material in Hongjoong’s hand, Wooyoung asks, pointing at it, "what did you even write here? On the tissue."

"Doesn’t matter. The matter is to deliver it to your boy. Without crashing it."

"My boy?"

"Well, who’s else? Not mine, I have Seo– Hwa ," Hongjoong’s mouth curves into a smile and he leans forward until his lips reached Seonghwa’s blushing cheek. Seonghwa doesn’t really look like he mind this behaviour.

Wooyoung sighed, thinking about everything that had happened in the previous years. Hongjoong’s attempts to set him up with San originate in the first year of University. Now Wooyoung is finishing his fourth and Hongjoong’s ideas has exceeded several dozen.

He was hurt at first. Every time Wooyoung implemented another strategy of how to capture San’s hart, San pretended as if he didn’t noticed on purpose, letting all the words pass by his ears and all of a sudden became blind. He was sad, too. He was ready to give up, lock himself up with Hongjoong in his apartment and sink himself in romcoms, whining about who even needs this screen love at all.

Wooyoung would’ve given up a long time ago. He really would if it hadn’t been for another sleepover at San’s and a sleepy voice that whispered confession of love at the back of his neck. That was when Wooyoung found out that San was a sleepwalker. And that was when his selfconfidence and feelings acquired a new beginning.

Wooyoung gets distracted by the sound of notification on his phone, amazed at how he even heard it through all the noise but instantly he lightens up noticing who had texted him.

"Hyung, I need to do this myself and not with someone else help," Wooyoung frowns, getting up from his seat. "I don’t want you or Seonghwa-hyung to be constant intermediaries in our relationship." He sighs, turning to take his coat from the hanger. Seonghwa’s diffused eyes target his every move and Wooyoung thinks whether he should, like a good dongseng, arrange a taxi for the two, but then dismisses this idea. They are grown up men and Seonghwa’s not even tipsy so, Wooyoung thinks, they will figure it out themselves. Not like this is their first time. "Alright, I need to go now," he throws a shy smile and waves at them, "Sannie is waiting."

He leaves the building under Hongjoong’s command to not forget about safe sex and the last thing Wooyoung catches before his face meets night air is Seonghwa’s trying to prevent his boyfriend from embarrassing them even more. Fresh oxygen envelopes his lungs, burns the alcohol irritated throat and Wooyoung feels it when every piece of his body is being relaxed.

"Wooyoung!"

Viscous, deep voice coming from somewhere on the left knocks him from his stance. Wooyoung turns around, blurred eyes looking for a familiar figure, and he finds the person on the opposite side of the street. San rises his hand in a welcoming gesture and even from the distance Wooyoung is able to catch the shine of his mischievous glance. San is like a ball full of happiness, charges everything around him with energy and feelings without making any effort at all.

Wooyoung makes hesitant steps, manoeuvring his relaxed body, and when he manages to establish steady contact with a hard surface under his feet, he stomps right to his friend, finding himself in San’s tight embrace. San smells like home. Not a specific smell of a material house, no, it feels like a set of something mental, palpable and tangible, which in general feels like a home .

Hot breath burns San’s collarbones as Wooyoung drowns himself deeper in his arms. He needs a moment, just a little bit more.

"Did hyungs decided to stay longer?"

"Don’t know, I left right after you texted," Wooyoung breathes out.

San only chuckles in his hair, separating their tangled bodies. Wooyoung hums in protest but after receiving a promise to stay overnight lets his stiff hands unhooks from San’s shoulders.

"You will have your time at night," San’s response makes his heart miss a beat, but Wooyoung reminds himself to remain still. "Let’s go home?"

Wooyoung nods, taking San’s hand in his, "yeah."

San gives him his best smile.

Their way home is drowned in Wooyoung’s laughter and San’s stories about yet another day in his taekwondo studio.

Wooyoung remembers San three years ago - a modest skinny guy with a shining eyes. He was confused in words and listened more than talked but Wooyoung was hooked by his sincerity and ephemeral naivety. His sociable and loud nature became attached to a shy, quiet boy. But then San began to change.

He opened up to more new people, became more talkative, from being glued to the walls at University parties San now was captured in the center of the room. Watching him, Wooyoung only sighed quietly, rejoicing at new changes.

And then San’s appearance began to change too. The second year of University brought not only Yunho and Mingi in their lives but also dance classes. San blossomed like a tropical flower, bright and alluring, rare, the one that stands out like a trophy among the others in orangery. Wooyoung admired him in silent happiness and didn’t pay much attention to the change in the beat of his heart.

When Yeosang appeared in their group of friends Wooyoung realised that something was not right. Not with Yeosang (although he figured it out weeks later, all thanks to his wise hyung) but with Wooyoung himself. San began to spend more time with the blonde, in the morning disappearing with him in the gym and in the evenings boasting about his growing muscles to Wooyoung. Wooyoung’s mind was raging with annoyance and, as it later turned out, jealousy. But there was nothing to be jealous of, – later Yeosang confessed he is in a relationship with Jongho.

Now Wooyoung all but grateful that Yeosang showed San what he could do with his body (Wooyoung admires the growing difference in their proportions but only Hongjoong knows about it).

"Tired?" San asks as his hand slowly drifts Wooyoung out of his thoughts. They’re almost made it to Wooyoung’s dorm, keeping the last few minutes in pleasant silence.

Wooyoung sighs deliberately, remembering untouched tasks he has to complete for his main subject. "Yes, actually. All I want to is fall on the bed and sleep till the next evening."

Perhaps, with you, he adds in his thoughts.

"My Wooyoungie," San grabs his shoulders, carefully, turning Wooyoung to look at him directly. "You’re completely tortured with your studies." He pouts and Wooyoung resists the drunken urge to attract and kiss. No, he reminds himself, you shouldn’t.

"I’ll leave your ass freeze here all night."

Wooyoung’s heart goes into six-eighths and the crescendo sparkles in his eyes by the remembrance how San called him gentle 'my Wooyoungie'. His cheeks shine with a blush, the pulse breaks down and his drunk mind comes up with the best idea to hide behind the front door.

Damn you, Choi San.

San starts ruthlessly pound the door and shimmers with laughter while Wooyoung tries to calm his raging body. He’s not a teenager in love anymore, but reacts like one of them. Leaning back against the door, he inhales deeply, filling exhausted lungs with oxygen and slowly exhales, counting to five. Flashes that once filled his eyes disappeared by the dim lighting and Wooyoung mentally bows to an old concierge who left her post early again. He wouldn't like to appear before her in this state and with San howling outside the door.

"Wooyoung, you aren’t serious, right? Or do you really want to leave me here? If you are, then I won’t let you sleep in peace!" San continues with the knocking, overwhelming him with questions.

Wooyoung concentrates all the remaining will, claps his cheeks to put himself in order and presses the doorknob. It’s instantly opens, showing him stirred San, embraced by the light of a lonely streetlight. Beautiful, Wooyoung thinks. You are irrevocably in love, rolls out in response. He groans helplessly as the guilty smile blooms on his lips.

"I'll leave you alone in a cold bed," San marches past him, jumping into the staircase. Wooyoung follows, less frisky, feeling how he begins to give himself to a state of fatigue, and alcohol begins to take its effect.

When he reaches his floor, San is already there waiting for him, leaning on the railing. Wooyoung struggles to open the door, for some reason the key doesn’t go into the keyhole, and San behind his back only complicates the task.

They don’t turn on the light, immediately passing into the bedroom where Wooyoung allows himself to fall into the substance of the mattress. He forgets to take off his street clothes and forgets about San, who carefully catches home wear from the closet for both of them, quietly asking Wooyoung to get up.

"At least crawl closer, I'll help you change your clothes."

With difficulties but Wooyoung complies the request, complaining about his crumped limbs and practically kicking San. It felt like he had fall asleep for a while, because when he wakes up again, San is already dressed and with cotton pads in one hand and micellar water in other rises above him. Wooyoung smiles crookedly, resisting the threads of sleep that pulls him back.

Something in his mind clicks and lips start to form words against his will. "Did you know that you talk in your sleep?"

And even under alcohol veil Wooyoung feels when San’s hand pause and his whole body stiffens. He let the frown appear, slowly opening exhausted eyes. "What’s wrong?"

"How did you found out?"

Wooyoung sits down abruptly, blurred mind curl his thoughts in confuse. "I mean, you spilled out that you like me?" His frown gets deeper and Wooyoung can’t understand why San asks for obvious things. "And now here I am, waiting for you to confess and– do you know how long it has been?"

The awareness of what he said comes with a delay, eyes are comically round and mouth stretches in a perfect 'o'.

"You–"

"San! San, shit, I didn’t want to–"

"Wooyoung!"

San throws the used cotton pads aside and Wooyoung thinks the boy will now storms out the doorway of the bedroom, loud sound of the front door closing will be heard but instead San falls face into the pillow and groans loudly.

Wooyoung freezes.

"Sannie?" Still feeling sticky shock lingering over his body Wooyoung reaches with trembling hand to San, fearing to scare him away even more. "I’m sorry."

San gives him crumpled, fragmentary set of sounds in response.

"Please San, can you stop being a baby? We’re in a middle of discussing an adult stuff here."

Releasing a heavy sigh San slowly rises up and sits upright, now facing Wooyoung. He looks miserable and if it weren't for the circumstances they’re in to, Wooyoung would have pressed San against his chest a long time ago and cuddled him to solace. Instead, he holds himself steadfastly, preventing his rebellious hands from moving.

"I was trying to say," he starts in a whisper, looking away but his body stayed completely in place. "What I was trying to say that– Wooyoung, wait! Let me tell first, then you can splash out your emotions on me."

Wooyoung narrows his eyes but stays obediently silent.

"I like you."

Wooyoung rolls his eyes, trying to not let his smile appear just yet. "Thank you, I know that alr–"

San cuts him off with a loud noise, "Wooyoung!"

"Sorry, sorry, you can keep going."

San closes his eyes, lips in a thin line before he starts. "Since the first year. When we started hanging out together. You– You’re so different. Not like the rest of our group. No, I– I mean, I like them too but you have something in you that no one else have." San says. Wooyoung seeks to discover the deeper meaning of what San’s feelings for him are about. "You’re like a bridge between all of us." he looks with a cautious at Wooyoung. "Maybe it’s only me, who thinks so because, well, I– I like you." A sigh of relief breaks off San's lips and a tear-traitor rolls down Wooyoung's cheek. "I'm sorry I didn't say it sooner."

Wooyoung hides his face in his arms, sobbing loudly, and grimaces at the sound that escaped his lips. He then moves closer to San, caping his blushing cheeks.

"I’ll kiss you right now and you won’t try to stop me, deal?"

When San nodded, silently, Wooyoung let his emotions take over his actions.

San’s lips are chapped and dry but Wooyoung licks and bites, attacking San with new strikes of kisses. He’s not shy with his moves, snuggling to body under his with ardent movements, getting the same in return. They are not afraid of their own desires, persecuted by feelings.

Feelings, Wooyoung thinks. San has feelings for me.

Just a thought of it made his mouth curve in a happy smile, breaking the constitution of kiss but San doesn’t insist on continuing, glowing with a smile in response. Wooyoung exhales in his mouth, leaving a kiss on San’s cheek.

"I like you too if you haven’t figured it out yet."

There’s a blush shining on San’s skin and he hides his eyes. "I did," he smiles at Wooyoung proudly, fidgeting with his fingers, "I was just scared."

"You’ve been scared of the storm of feelings I’ll shower you into? That’s right, you won’t be deprived of that."

At that San only laughed, laying down on the mattress with Wooyoung in his arms.

This night Wooyoung presses himself to San even tighter and wakes up in the middle of the night from rustle of the accompaniments of love confessions.
