Shisui realized he hated water. Oh sure it looks harmless and life giving but don’t let it fool you, it’s a demon. His impression of water has nothing to do with the fact that he was currently drowning, not at all. Looking back on his life he realized that he always hated water, weather it was as a kid getting colds from playing in the rain(it had tricked him into thinking it would be fun) or as a shinobi fighting against Kiri he hated water so it was somewhat of a relief when he was pulled out of the water and then he opened his eyes and realized two big problems. One, he was alive. He was pretty sure that his lungs had taken enough water for him to be dead a couple times over, but he was a shinobi so he could kind of except that he was alive but that lead to problem number two. He had eyes. Now, Shisui was a good ninja, in fact he was a very good ninja, but no matter how good he was as a ninja he would never be able to regenerate eyes. And when he opened his eyes he got another problem. Instead of a river bed he was laying in a puddle in an alley way. Shisui stood up, brushed himself off, took one step onto the street and promptly collapsed into the arms of a women wearing a kimono with a rather angry looking boy by her side. As soon as he hit her arms he was out.
