Work Text:

Tim had to admit that Kon looked good.

He always does, a small part of his mind reminded him.

His Robin training pushed the thought away immediately. He didn’t have time to oogle his teammate who just came back from a mission with his estranged father figure. Even if he had a new uniform – a sexy, punk rock suit.

His original black and red had been swapped with the traditional red, yellow, and blue of the Supers, but he added his own touch – his old belt and gloves, and the addition of a leather jacket, round glasses, and grown out hair.

Damn, Tim didn’t know leather could look so good on a person. His sweats and sunglasses protecting his identity suddenly felt underdressed in comparison.

Then, the man in question had the guts to smile at Tim. With the mood he had been in prior to the mission, the motion had been rare and limited to certain people. But now, the glowing white smile directed at Tim made his stomach flutter.

Tim couldn’t remember the last time he felt this way.

“I’m guessing the mission went well?”

“It was less of a mission and more of a vacation,” Kon said, not deterred by the fact, the smile still resting across his features, “Clark said that the Bat can’t find out though, okay Rob? He thought it would be a good bonding experience. We went to Hawaii. Have you ever been to Hawaii?”

Tim shook his head, eyes drawn to Kon’s lips as he rambled.

“Yeah. It’s awesome. Then, he took me to the fortress and got me this suit,” he gave a spin, “but I wanted to make it my own because I know I’m a clone, but I don’t want to be him, and I made peace with that years ago. Clark bought me the jacket. I got the glasses. I thought they looked cool.”

Tim could only watch as he took the round shades off and fiddled with them in his hands.

“Do you want a pair?”

Tim blinked at him, “Of glasses?”

“Yeah,” Kon rubbed the back of his neck, “It was buy-one-get-one free, and you only wear those ugly Oakleys to keep your identity-”

“I’m honored, Kon.”

He just gave another sheepish smile, “Anytime, Rob.”

Notes:

is it gay to have matching glasses with your homie?

clark didn't want bruce knowing, despite bruce being the one to constantly encourage him to engage with kon

i've read all the yj comics, but only watched the first two seasons of young justice -- i don't really care about the show's canon
