Work Text:
Marinette snuggled closer to Jason. Not that she was awake enough to realize it was Jason. All she knew was they were warm, and they made her feel safe.
Tendrils of her deep blue-shaded hair fanned around her head, which rested on his chest. One arm was strewn across his stomach, while the other rested underneath her.
Jason, who had woken up a few minutes prior, sleepily stared down at her with his electric blue eyes. He smiled softly and tenderly brushed her bangs out of her eyes.
He slowly raised his hand, so he could gently run his fingers through her hair. Marinette gave a content sigh but made no other indications of being awake.
He bent his head down and lightly kissed the crown of her head.
God, Jason loved mornings like these. Mornings where he could just lay in bed with this absolutely ethereal woman and relax. Where they could both just soak up each other's presence.
They didn’t get much time to be like this. But when they did, it gave them both hope. Because if they could be together and happy like this, then there was a reason to keep going.
So when Marinette woke up to Jason staring at her with so much love and gratitude and respect, all she could do was smile. Smile and try to tell him how much she had come to love him and care for him.
And if they stayed like that the whole day, wrapped in the other's embrace, feeling safe and content and happy after both having lived through so much suffering, neither of them seemed to mind.
