Chapter Text
It had started as a simple solo jog since Blaze wanted to work on her stamina, but nothing was ever slow with the blue hedgehog around.
"Try to keep up, Princess!~"
A blue streak whizzed past on her left, as Blaze's naturally calm and composed expression turned to one of amusement.
"Ah... well if that's how he wants to play today."
Blaze geared up with a small smirk and bolted after the blue blur.
After she caught up to the hedgehog, Sonic gave Blaze a wide grin.
"Finished warming up, Blaze?"
"Oh please, we both know I'm the last person who needs any kind of warming." Blaze replied with a breathy laugh.
With that remark, Blaze shot ahead of him with a quick blast of fire, leaving Sonic to laugh behind her for a minute before speeding up to match her pace again.
Blaze and Sonic had been running for hours non-stop. They bantered and teased back and forth for a while, taking turns in the lead of their impromptu race. After a point, they had finally fallen into a comfortable silence when Sonic broke it suddenly.
"Hey, Blaze. I know we haven't been running with a destination in mind, but follow me for a bit."
Blaze blinked and gave him a small nod, slowing herself down a little to follow his lead.
They arrived in a petite meadow overlooking the ocean, and Sonic stopped running by throwing himself down into the grass and rolling to a stop.
"Here we are!" He grinned up at her from the grass.
Blaze hadn't realized how tired she was till she stopped running, and the normally calm and elegant cat let herself fall to the ground next to him. Rolling onto her back, she couldn't stop herself from panting as the exertion from the day caught up to her, and a glance to the left revealed Sonic was in a similar boat.
The pair was drenched in sweat, and when their labored breaths slowed down a little, they turned to look at each other and couldn't help but laugh happily.
